    Where did you get that long ruler with the safety piece on it? I would love one of those. Thank you for sharing this helpful video 😊

      That is a Safety Shield made by Olipfa. They attached to the ruler with adhesive. I think JoAnne Fabrics still sells them online.

    Good demo. I have more problems when I'm working with larger pieces, over a yard. I can't seem to get selvedge even across the length. Any recommendations for larger pieces? BTW, I'm a fan of the Creative Grids rulers too, but I've had trouble with Stripology rulers. I watched their instructions many times, but still get wavy strips; any tips for those?

      For larger pieces of fabric, I square as much as possible, usually the yard on my cutting table. I carefully support the excess so it doesn’t affect the initial squaring. I then cut my strips needed and after several strips, I’ll re-square. I keep repeating that process. That’s how I do it. Honestly, I don’t often square anything over a yard.

    Did you add the clear piece on your ruler that you hold or did the ruler come like that

      That is a safety shield that I purchased to add to the ruler. You can find it here: amzn.to/41xkS5i

    Can you tell me where you got the edges to both your rulers?

      Hi! That is made by Olipfa. I found them at Joanne Fabrics. They only come in the size for the 24 1/2" ruler but I had my husband cut down others to fit my smaller rulers. I'm not sure they sell them anymore though, sadly. When I replace my rulers, I'm going to have to find another solution. It's made of a heavy duty plastic.

    Best way to square up a large pc of fabric? I will often purchase 2-4 yds not wanting to cut more than needed.

      Square up the same way.

      Square up the same way. However, you need to have something to balance the weight of the fabric otherwise it will pull the area you are squaring. Also, if you are cutting that whole piece of fabric up, you will probably have to stop and re-square a few times.

    I have so much fabric that has been cut into ( gifted etc from others). Mist doesnt have salvage edges. How do you square that up?

    • @deanneeisenman9347
      @deanneeisenman9347  10 месяцев назад

      You can still square it by finding the lengthwise grain of your fabric which runs parallel to the selvedge.

      I square a fat quarter the same way. Matching the selvages like with the larger piece of fabric and them cutting it like in the video.

    I am surprised you did not start by removing the selvage edge first

    • @SparkyOne549
      @SparkyOne549 2 года назад

      Who does that? It’s thrifty using the selvage.

    • @deanneeisenman9347
      @deanneeisenman9347  Год назад

      I generally don't remove it. I trim off the selvage when I am cutting pieces for a quilt.
