Steve wrote or co wrote most of Journey’s song. Not only does he sing beautifully, but he is a fantastic songwriter and producer. Steve has a great solo portfolio. The Voice is awesome!
Back in High School, in the early 80's, I used listen to Journey's greatest hits while falling asleep at night. Steve's voice can calm you down and make you forget your worries. Especially this one.
Steve Perry helped to write most of Journey Songs, Journeys Record Label was going to drop them because their Record Sales had Drop of, Journeys Manager brought in Steve Perry as Lead Singer and the Rest is History. The Billboard Hot 100 just did a Fan vote about a Month ago and " Steve Perry " was Voted the Best Singer in Rock History he got 67% of the Votes.
I love how many bands during this time period had their own distinctive sound. You know it was them the minute they started. Journey did so much great work and I agree Steve Perry has a stand out voice - pure! Much appreciated Johnny & HB!
From the "Frontiers" album from 1983, a beautiful tune with lyrics as haunting as the music. This is a classic rock ballad with emotive vocals and somber melody, which is slow paced and joined by a melancholic piano and synthesizer. The vocals have a pleading and somber quality, discussing losing a great love. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Neal. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Steve was a major songwriter with Jon and Neal (which is one of the reasons why they haven't had a hit since he left) and he produced Raised on Radio after successfully producing his 1st solo album Street Talk. Steve also worked on all of the greatest hits and remastered recordings.
This is my favorite song from Journey which is one of my favorite groups from the 80s. I love many of their songs, and Steve Perry has an awesome voice.
One of the best groups out of the late 70’s and still going today Steve Perry’s vocals are phenomenal his vocal range was none to compare for the music they created them up until his departure he was singer / songwriter with collaborators of Gregg Rollie who was replaced by Johnathon cane from the baby’s and lead guitarist Neil Shone who was originally from the Carlos Santana and also Greg Rollie group back in the 70’s that launched journey to stardom and till this day but without Steve Perry they tried different leads to capture Perry’s vocals range their were a few they tried till they settled with arnel Pineda who’s been with them for quite some time now journey music will never be forgotten and cherished forever 👏
💜💜💜💜💜 Steve Perry and Jonathan Caine (keyboards) wrote this song. Steve was the main song writer. Try "Mother, Father" by Journey. Steve hits what I call 'angel notes' towards the end. It is so high pitched.
❤❤❤Love Journey !! The Voice of Steve Perry will give you chills!! Beautiful !!! One of my fav songs by Journey!! Neal Schindler is a fantastic guitar player !!
The majority of Journey's songs from the Escape (1981) and Frontiers (1983) albums were written by the trio of Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Steve Perry, and Neal Schon (guitar). And in regard to songs about "The one that got away," something of a deep cut from them along those lines is "Still She Cries."
Not much more to say about Journey and Steve Perry. Thank you Neal and Harri, Steve Perry wrote and co-wrote most of the songs. You probably know this by now.
Quote from Jonathan Caine keyboardist of Journey 1980-1987 & 1995 forward. Referring to “Send her my love” I went home and I called Steve Perry up and I said I came up with this idea, and we wrote it on the spot. A lot of this stuff we wrote was just on the spot. Very, very spontaneous. We kind of wrote with an urgency because we didn't have a lot of time together. The road was hard enough. When we did write, we wrote very intense. All the lyrics were, like, within hours. We didn't mess around."
Neil Shon is an amazing guitarist. Dropping out of high school to be the guitarist for Santana says it all, and he only got better from their when they created Journey. Pairing him and Perry was magic and when keyboardist Johnathan Cain joined they really came together as a perfect band. 🤙🏻
Just a little morsel of trivia for you…. Jonathan Cain, the keyboardist, was also the keyboardist for the band The Babys with John Waite. Loved his piano in Every Time I Think Of You. ❤️ The man is a legend!
Personally, I think the Live Version is actually better than the Studio Version. You get a greater sence if just how effortlessly his singing is and how powerful. And the Bands backing harmonies are...sweeter. Regardless its still a great song sung by one of the greatest voices in Rock.
I wanted to select the original video but "vevo" has the rights to it and they block it. I don't even try anymore and Harri has mentioned it on previous reactions about vevo. This was the best I could do, RedSinter.
I just love Steve Perry’s voice. I agree with Harri that SP carried this band. I’m not familiar with this song but it sounds beautiful. Thanks Neal and Harri 🌺✌️
Keyboardist / Rhythm Guitarist Jonathan Cain came up with title and theme of this song. Someone came up to him who knew an ex-girlfriend of his. He told them to "send her my love".
Steve co-wrote, sang the songs. He later went on to also be a producer for albums. He can play drums, keyboards, and guitars. He wrote and produced his solo albums. He helped produce some Journey albums.

Neal Schon is a top flight pro on guitar. A pro’s pro for many years. His melodic logic and shredding abilities are what separates him from others. 🤘😎
Beautiful as always ... just wish it was live! God bless you.
Beautiful song then, Beautiful song now. It has stood the test of time. Great song Harri, you're the best!!
Great voice great song🎧❤️

Timeless classic- just gives good vibes. Steve Perry is amazing! Love this song-nostalgia for me.
One of the finest singers of our time. His ability to perform these songs live was truly magical.

Oh man, this one is incredible
Yes, Steve Perry wrote most of his songs. Even the one we are listening to. Steve Perry has a beautiful voice.
This one was Cain and Perry, not Perry alone
My favorite Journey song! Thanks, Harri. 👍👍
Gotta love classic Journey. I wore out my Greatest Hits❤❤❤❤❤
💜💜💜💜💜 Steve Perry and Jonathan Caine (keyboards) wrote this song. Steve was the main song writer. Try "Mother, Father" by Journey. Steve hits what I call 'angel notes' towards the end. It is so high pitched.

Who doesn't love Steve? - greatest voice ever. (and Winds of March is another great tune that few react to. Live is best)

Song writing for this album involved Perry, Cain and Schon.

There’s a really great live version of this you should do. It’s amazing how great and close to this he sounds live.
You should check out his solo song “foolish heart”, its GREAT

Glad I could turn you onto it, Debbie -- you're welcome.
Thanks for the video reaction. I'm across the pond in Texas.
I really like your laid-back,mature reactions. Plus, you have an awesome accent.

Check out Steve Perry’s song “Strung Out”
Watch the one live from Tokyo, 1983.
