I read on the wikipedia article that they only sold 30,000 copies of this game in the US, so I feel like I'm part of a small club who experienced this during its prime. I think I bought it at Software Etc.. had never heard of it.. bought it solely based on examination of the box.. it was a significant part of my childhood and the music is burned in to my soul.
Truly amazing game, it's not just nostalgia because I played a lot of other games too that I have nostalgia for but as an adult I can recognize that they weren't that good. But LBA and especially LBA2 are legitimately fantastic
The game was celebrated in Germany. That market was always very enthusiastic about all things 3d. There where some amazing things coming out of France in the 90's. They where often cutting edge. But always mixed with artistic endevour as well.
Around the time I made that comment, I had stumbled upon the opening theme song .. I sent it to my sister and she had no memory of it.. I thought that was kind of strange, because I could've sworn we played it together as kids.. no matter.. must've been my best friend from childhood.. sent it to him.. same response.. no recollection of ever playing it. I was left with this bewildering, lonesome feeling.. Did I play this game totally alone? I have clear memories of playing it with SOMEONE, but don't know who else it could've been.
@@desktorp well I imagine it represented something you where looking for, unknowingly, and thus, drew your attention in a much stronger fashion than other people there at the time. Maybe.
So iconic and elaborated OST. I miss such rich games which makes me hum the music here and there... And that was what basically made me search this almost 19 years later xD As a kid I was OBSSESED with The Village song. I tried to play in almost every single instrument I put my hands on.
I love this game. I still own it. Including the box, instruction manual and cd case it came in. Being from north America, the game was titled "Relentless: Twinsen's Little Big Adventure".
Even in 2023, this wondefull music is so ... Whouaahouuu! All this game was a incredible adventure : lyrics, history, graphism, gameplay, musics : this was a master piece! One of the best game I've ever played! Thanks a looot to the creators!! "Détenu Twinsen, cessez de vous agitez"! :D I have a big crush for the LBA Theme! So many emotions with this marvelous music!
I rember when i was looking on my dads ipad and i found this game on it. I clicked on it and came in a prison. I tought it had something to do with his work cause more apps on the ipad looked fun but where "boring". I asked him about it and i played it for the first time. My english was not as good at the time, but i understand most of visuals. And the music is crazy. When this video came out i played it in class as my backround music to work on and it was amazing. I came across the lba2 music and i wen i saw Lba had a sequel i needed to play it. I brother booted up a old windows laptop and downloaded steam on it. I played lba 2 and i remeberd the feeling of playing Lba for the first time. I finished the game after like a week or so. But my brother still hasnt finished it:/.
The music in prison at the start is a MIDI/lo-fi version of the Hamalayi track, which you don't hear in its full version I think until the Hamalayi mountains. For a large proportion of the game, simplified versions of the CD tracks (or short parts of them) are played. eg The tavern on Citadel Island and various shops play a MIDI version of the Rebels theme, which you don't hear in all its glory until Rebellion Island.
Could you re-do this OST video with the additional music tracks from the Enhanced Edition? LBA1 Enhanced Edition uses proper CD Music for the tracks that on the original DOS Version always played as Midi-Files only.

The creator of these tracks should be very proud of his/her work. I don't think the game would have produced the same wonderful emotions without it.
The music for the game was composed by Philippe Vachey.
And, indeed, it's a wonderful soundtrack :)
He started a Kickstarter campaign for an orchestral version of the soundtrack and it's doing very well.

Yes, and now is very difficult to find fun with a videogame, specially adventure genre, game mechanics are boring and unimaginative.
Used to come home from a stressful day of school and put on Lba's Theme and it would really help me relax.

Desert is the nicest track.. makes you think about life
The holy period when you could listen to your game's musics directly from the game's CD.
This, Mechwarrior 2 and Renegade: Battle for Jacob's Star all got many play throughs from me.

I still have it also.. "Relentless: Twinsen's LBA".. el mejor juego que he jugado en mi vida..
I got it in Australia. It was called "Relentless: Twinsen's Odyssey" here.

I remember some parts of 1, but overall, the experience of 2 deserves the amount of gushing people do over it.
This is such an awesome thing you're doing. Big nostalgia here!!!
