      Well, Adam, I see what you're trying to say, but I would argue that Shepard is a lot more dangerous than the player. Oftentimes the player will fail at a certain task and have to try it again, but for Shepard only the successes really "happen". The player, of course, manages to eventually achieve everything that Shepard does, but Shepard is a lot more adaptable and quick to learn than the one controlling him.

    *Just saw someone make a comment about turning ME into a movie and had a thought. It's amazing how far video games have surpassed movies these days. A 2 hour long movie wouldn't be able to do justice to the emotion, story, universe of Mass Effect. The uniqueness of every individual experience mapped out by each player's choices and their investment in the series. Not to mention the fact that movies are passive entertainment while video games require active participation. Technology has come so far. 20 years ago video games wouldn't be able to hold a candle to any big blockbuster movie. Now the roles are reversed.*

    • @Inblader

      +Zeebrah Mass Effect is more an experience for players, "Paragon Lost" (even if it's not a real movie) showed that be passive while watching the movie was a bad idea because we loose all the things of the Trilogy!
      Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat are a good example (not only because they were shitty) of this argument, but some video games managed to offer nice movies (Tomb Raider left me good memories)...

      I love the Mass Effect Trilogy. I'm happy that they didn't get the SW Licence and had to develop their own Universe. IMO it's better than SW. Personal taste.
      But they have lost their energy. Their last games were ALL structured the same. Things seem hopeless and the hero tried to make alliances to fight the villian. They even copied this structure!! to Dragon AGE:I!
      In essence these games all have the same general structure. This isn't very innovative to say the least.
      We need more stories with UNEXPECTED twists, turns and plots. Not every game needs an epic story with soupy heroism.
      BTW, I'm one of the few who actually liked the end of ME3.

      The best thing to do is to keep this specific story of Cmdr. Shepard as a video game. There are sooooo many scenarios that could play out for a movie plot of about 2.5 hours.
      Potential movie plot:
      1st arc - The discovery of the Prothean beacon on Mars
      2nd arc - The discovery of the Charon Mass Effect relay
      3rd and final actionpacked arc of the movie, the First Contact War.
      For me this would be a really amazing movie, because these are events that are thoroughly discussed in the trilogy, they are never shown even as illustrations, and the characters and events are carefully explained in the correct order and are also never shown anywhere in the trilogy. It's like the perfect scenario for a Mass Effect movie, because the producers and directors have the creative freedom to build it, and to show how humans discovered the Mass Effect relays and how the First Contact War played out where we could meet characters such as Ashley Williams' father.

    • @aginor6487
      @aginor6487 Год назад

      @@andrewchr That would be amazing but they would need to work hard to make it remain in the style of the gritty, violent and realistic sci-fi universe that is Mass Effect. It runs the risk of becoming too much like Star Trek, which is more lighthearted and sometimes cheesy in it’s style.

That soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart. When I'm old and withered and my grandkids boast about their KD in COD 256, I'll smack their pussy asses and ask them "tell me you little shit, did you wade through the filth of bureaucracy and racial prejudice to become a Spectre? No? I thought not, so shut up you self entitled twats and go get me some lemonade".
    tl;dr I have fond memories of the first ME.

      +BlackSkullArmor god no, let there never be such a thing as cod 256 they have already cloned that shit way too many times already. just... no. like any si-fi movie clone of a clone of a clone it begins to degrade the integrity of the source material. cod 256 would be a unspeakable horror and a travesty to gamers everywhere. but that being said there is something also to be said for the sheer toxicity of the cod community as a whole so much so that one should fear growing a third arm or something of that nature. so by that line of reasoning alone the cod community by the time cod 256 rolls around the players should be just as horrific as the game itself. no?

      +buckwheatthe3rd and before anyone bitch's at me saying i must be one of those battlefield players ill beat you to it. yes i am, but i started out in cod, and i wont play it anymore. those disks might as well be a frisbee, not because i like the gameplay of battlefield better(of which i do) but for the absolute lack of sportsmanship and constant trash talking and all around collective maturity of a 7 year old spoiled and disrespectful brat that is sadly is the overall hallmark of the call of duty community. now granted all who play cod aren't all bad but there are more than enough of the bad to poison the well to the point that no one with any amount of self respect would want to deal with it. single player games(like mass effect), great stories, immersive environments, and no one screaming over the mic how they fucked your mother while teabaging your corpse.

      BlackSkullArmor I've always felt the turning point was virimire. it starts with showing the result of not being prepared and taking your time, being Wrexs outcome.
      then you meat a fucking reaper, and learn just how screwed the galaxy is.
      then you have to make a choice that will impact nd follow you for the rest of the trilogy, who to sacrifice for the mission.
      Virmire, for me, was when Mass Effect truly started

    So much joy. Sadness that it has come and gone. I would, if I could, blank all recollection of my 100's upon 100's of hours with the games - just to go and do it again fresh. The 1st encounter with Sovereign: "rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind. Fumbling in ignoance..." *CHILLS* , the VI on ILOS describing the fall of the protheans, the back door to the citadel. Discovering that Omega's Archangel was Garrus, - learning that the reapers were building a human reaper!, everything and all conversations trees to do with Legion throughout the series - SO MANY great and memorable moments. All comes back in a flood when I hear the music. *A single tear of happiness* :D

    It's strange the emotions that the Mass Effect games bring out of me. I remember playing each one when they were new; ME in 2008, ME2 in 2010, ME3 in 2012. And while the games are truly great, it's the memories of my best friends from that time of my life who I played these games with that truly bring a tear to my eyes. My best friend Mike, my cousin Jesse, and my girlfriend at the time Jenny. I'll never forget those days or those people. I'll always love them in my heart. Good times . . . but life goes on... :,(

Ngl the final ending cutscene ost makes me cry whenever i start seeing Mordin, Legion, Thane and Anderson pics. This is why i love this franchise so much, you get involved so much with them at the point they are part of you and when they die, its like a part of you is leaving too.

      Nah, I'd rather not. The music is not as compelling and the setting just doesn't pull me in. Feels too generic.
      Never managed to get into the first games even, so there's no point in starting with Inquisition.
      Another reason is that gameplay/quest wise it feels too much like an MMO to me.

    • @aarona7582
      @aarona7582 9 лет назад +1

      Yea I know what you mean, It's not the same experience, and a great deal of the fetch quests are similar to those found in MMOs.
      I started off with Inquisition. I never played any of the previous Dragon age games. The main reason i got into it cuz it was a Bioware game.
      In the plot and character development they did not let down. Its actually more expansive.
      Hell you can romance anyone you want pretty much.
      I just miss Garrus and Wrex, they felt real and like good characters. I haven't really bonded with the characters of DA:O

    I love this series, and re-listening to the soundtrack, especially of 3 gets me feeling all those emotions all that build up and character interaction and depth that drew you in that made you care about them and the story and realizing that the ending was an inevitable sacrifice that could never have been averted and that all the hope and love your team and companions had all lead up to such a climactic ending. Bioware out did themselves when they made mass effect, they took story telling and player immersion into such depth that even now years after having completed the series that listening to one song can bring all of it back and make you yearn to re-experience it for the first time again.
    And I'm man enough to admit when Shepard and Garrus had there last talk i teared up, since Garrus and Tali have literally stuck with Shepard throughout the entirety of his journey, been there in every game for every big conflict and just the depth of their friendship drawn out among all the games just leaves that sharp pain when you realize it really is a final goodbye between them.
    High hopes for the next installment of the series starting with Andromeda.

    • @jeeeeeensen
      @jeeeeeensen 8 лет назад +9

      No my dudes, I totally get where you're coming from, but there were moments in Mass Effect 1 that just can't be watched, they demand to be played through. All of Virmire, choosing who to leave to arm the nuke, the fight with Wrex. The battle with Saren in the end, and convincing him to fight his indoctrination. The race to the Conduit on Ilos. These are just a few of the key moments in that game that make it the beginning of the best trilogy in current memory. I entirely agree with the fact that it is really clunky, and the graphics and gameplay are outdated by a bit, but even with that accounted for, the game itself is still certainly worth a playthrough. That's just my opinion though.

    My whole life, whenever I play RPG games, I normally only read about 20% of the in-game lores, just enough to understand the story.
    But Mass Effect trilogy, I went through over 90%. Its such a well-crafted fascinating world - seems like a grand scheme of binary opposition yet embedded deeply with so much diversity and inner conflicts. Most of the characters, even side quest people, are memorable and relatable. It makes you couldn't help but invest not only long hours of playing, but also true emotions.
    How I wish I could meet the game's makers and thank them in their face for creating such an experience for us to enjoy.

    to think that many gamers haven't experienced this game in its entirety. And even some mass effect fans haven't been able to experience what the game becomes when you play all 3 all the way through with a climactic citadel dlc ending. The story is so rich that it makes you feel real emotions. Many players cry at times, laugh, get frustrated and angry at the villains. And in some cases, actually make real connections with the characters because they feel so real and fleshed out. The writing team, no, the whole dev team for this series deserves to be recognized as the greatest of greats. To make a series this well with the shadow of the EA looming over you speaks to their determination, and will to make great games. So sad to see what happened with andromeda, but This series will always be a testament to the greatest gaming experience mankind has to offer.

    I really hope that the rumors they'll announce a remastered version of the OT in a few days are true. It's a shame this games were buried under the critisism the ending received because imho, it's one of the best original worldbuilding scifi franchises ever made across all the different mediums.

    I must have played Mass Effect hundreds of times and managed to pull something new out of it each time. Also, it's cool that astronaut Buzz Aldrin is speaking to the little boy in the epilogue.
