I like the way you remind us delay is better than denial. I need to unlock my ID country/authority that issued document, because i got confused. Now NVC sent me a notice instructing me to resend passport and police records. I believe it was rejected and needs to be resend by mail because of the wrong country. I have choosen the country where i received my passport instead answering it by my citizenship. Is this a worst scenario causing long delay?

Pls I'm DV-2021 selectee and I submitted my DS 260 on July 28 2020. I want to send an unlock request to make few revisions on my information and that of my wife. Should I send two separate email? Also the revisions are about the job I indicated to do. I added "private business" and my fear is that it may invite difficult questions or probe. What's is your advice?

I'm from Uzbekistan, I filled up DS-260 last year, in my biometric passport there is no middle name but there is my father's name and it is written same " Father's name" for this I did not write it for given name together, in webpage it says include any first name and include middle name which is listed in your passport, questions is,

Please, my husband is dv 2022 winner. In filling the ds 260, one of the children's place of birth, he selected the city instead of the town on the child' passport. Because, on the ds 260 form the place of is city of birth, and the place of in the passport is a town not a city. He changed though, after consulting people, but, it didn't take effect because l think he forgot to save it after he made the changes. So, after submitting then he realized the city of birth on the form is different from the place of birth on the passport. What do we do now? Must he request for unlocking or he should leave it like that?

Hi, Bri. I had my interview on the 11th of May this year, but during filling my DS260 I included my daughter but I didn’t add her as participant . Because adding participant will permit me fill her of form . So I was told by the consular officer that my daughter also needed to fill the DS260. Hey Brit, you make everthing clear. I am selectees of dv 2021 Ma case no. is Africa around 21 thousand. KCC sent me email for the documents requirement on july 13,they sent it to the gmail account that i was submitted my ds 260.But i send my documents by another gmail account. I changed my address(kenya)and gmail account. So is this a problem?.

My friend got married while waiting for his interview. After asking KCC to inlock the DS 260, KCC said the case is out for interview scheduling and they can't unlock the form anymore. Does this mean my friend can't add his wife to his application anymore? Thank you in advance

If you have time to wait anyway, making sure your DS260 is accurate is a good idea.

It is generally not about short vacations.

And I lost that passport, and that passport was not valid for more than 2 years, now the police of those two countries need a clearance certificate for U.S. Embassy and DS-260 form ?? In a case where my present address of residence changes to a different country (for study), what would be the procedures for changing the interview location to that new country.
(At this time, KCC would already have asked for documents and verified everything, and interview is yet not scheduled)
At this stage, The two embassies should say ok! /The previous embassy to transfer your case to the new embassy and the new embassy should be willing to accept your transferred case from the previous one/. This is how it works.

After submitting ds260 form for myself and for my family, i only unlocked my ds260 for some correction and not unlocked my family's ds260, so i have received another conformation of ds260 for me with a different date.
So my question is that shall it cause any problem for having ds260 of different dates of my and my family's ds260?

It's not on your name - right - then no problem. Correct at interview.

Another problem I got while reading the interview stories from your blog was, They are asking many questions about the person who's gonna sponsor in the interview. In my case, I don't have a close relative living in US to sponsor me. But I can prove that I can support myself financially with my bank statements. Would that be enough? The US address I put in the ds260 was a PO Box that I have in US under my name. But again, What about the sponsor? Am I going to really have to find someone that I know in US before the interview?

Please let me ask you one question related to date of marriage filling on DS-260. We got married in January 2015. We actually celebrated our ceremony in January 01-02, 2015 (2 consecutive days). But our marriage certificate was made 3 months after marriage. Our marriage certificate was registered in April 01, 2015. The question is that in DS-260, section Family Information at point of date of marriage which date should I fill? Follow by registration date of marriage certificate or actual date of ceremony as January 01-02, 2015 (but it doesn't have any proof of the date by any document). However, my DS-260 already filled as April 01, 2015 following by registration date of marriage certificate. If need to follow by actual ceremony, I would request for unlock. Hope you could help!
Since both dates are in 2015, it doesn't matter which you use.

You don't list short visits such as holidays.

Hi Simon , I have a question please my sister got selected for DV lottery ,she submitted the ds260 and than she got married , she unlocked the application , and after a month things did not go well and had to divorce and today is September 1th , what she has to do , request another unlock or wait , what are your recommendations. Appreciated , thank you.
She should unlock again and change her status to divorced. There will obviously be a suspicion that she got married in order to fraudulently obtain an additional GC.

You have to email KCC and make sure they know you want to switch to CP. Having said that - you don't mention your region, but that is NOT a high number in EU or AF.

My wife is not immigrating with me as a dv derivative, and i didn't add her in my case, but while filling my ds-260 i answered the 1st option 'no' "is your spouse immigrating to the US with you"
And for the 2nd option i answered 'yes' "is your spouse immigrating to the US at a later date to join you"
So kindly tell me shall i unlock my ds260 to answer the 2nd option 'no' or its not a problem?

Hi. I'm 2024 winner. By 8th of May I submitted my form and by 9th sent unlock request without any reason according to regulation cause had one spelling mistake at my mother's name and 1 mistake at university address. Should I request to cancel the unlock if so, should I give reason?

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering and work in a food laboratory running general chemical analysis. Should I select "No" since I have no experience in specialized or military grade chemistry or is it better to answer year and explain that I only have general training/experience in Chemistry?
