Writer's block happens to all of us at some point. It's the one thing musicians struggle with the most.
This lyric writing strategy works like magic, especially if you have writer's block, or what we call songwriter's block.
It's a bit unorthodox. And the first things you write down may not end up in your song. In fact, the final lyrics may not be anywhere near it.
But the idea is to get you taking action. And putting your pen to paper is the absolute best way to get those metal lyric ideas flowing.

Bro I am a young black man in my mid 20s and this resonates with me so good. I'm heavily inspired by rock music but it's so hard for me to come up with lyrics for rock. These tips helped substantially 🙏🏽
Awesome to hear that. Those lyrics are deep within you. Sometimes you just have to start writing, start moving those fingers, and lyrics will come out. They won't all be great but you'll be practicing and you'll be surprised what you can come up with
Born in 1999 Jamaican/Afro cuban (me) and i got back into playing guitar in may of the past year and my drummer & i are starting to do gigs Never let something slow u down if u want it. just put in the time. i have people that tell me i play good 4 how little long ive been playing and im like no way i suck but ive written a few songs and performed and sometimes its just the time u put into it you can surprise yourself. i practice guitar 5 hrs a day and keep it up i have to practice more writing everything is just practice.

This lesson is how to write adequate placeholder lyrics when you don’t really have anything important or meaningful to say. Basically metallica post 1991.
Yes it can certainly be used for that and also to develop the melody. But it’s also used to simply write something rather than nothing to spark ideas.

As ridiculous as the topic you chose for the song was, this video was super helpful. Me and my band sat around for an half an hour trying to write lyrics and we had nothing. I will show this to my bandmates and it will help all of us write music.

Man, I think this is really useful and motivates me. I just finished the verse and chorus lyrics. but when there was a break in the song where I was going to fill it with scream lyrics, I realized it was very difficult and I had writer's block. keep going!

This is cool, you are basically using your own daily monomyth's and making it into lyrics. It works well because people crave the monomyth (the hero's journey) in many forms of art and especially story telling. Thanks for the idea!
Yeah dude, it's an easy way to just come up with stuff. You'll more than likely change it but it just gets you taking action and that's the first step that many don't take.
Dude, starting a punk band so a completely seperate genre, but this video helped an incredible amount. Felt like sitting down and learning from my dad, fucking awesome man

This is an awesome strategy to come up with lyrics.It never occured to me that every day occurrences could help fuel metal lyrics!I'm almost finished mapping out the lyrics to an entire song based on something that happened to me recently!It started by talking about this event but then it veered into a more abstract direction!Writing lyrics is an artform in itself and a lot of fun...I'm sure you had a lot of fun making this video!

Yeah, it almost sounds cheesy when you start the process but it's about starting something, somewhere, anywhere, and allowing that to lead you to the result as opposed to not starting at all (we can overthink and freeze up)

Good subject matter, I’m more instrumental but the things I have wrote without it being a direct topic I tend to follow I similar nature. WHO/WHAT/WHY/WHERE is this song going to be about kind of like how I approach a solo
