NEVER, in my wildest dreams did I think you would pour in a can of pineapple and follow it with cream. I love all 3 of these food items, so I need to do this recipe. Thank you for sharing.
We Koreans love your cream sauerkraut way more than kimchi. German cuisine is the best in the world.
... but Kimchi is delicious, too! ❤
We love sauerkraut at our house. I have never had creamed sauerkraut but this sure looks wonderful! When I cook sauerkraut I use a lot of diced apple, never pineapple. Will have to try it your way!

Looks great. I make a sauerkraut salad with apples & caraway seed, mayo. So Im no stranger to fruit & kraut. This is on my list to try for sure.
Love sauerkraut. We grow cabbage every year and make about 2 gallons of it. I can't have onions so I probably couldn't do that recipe, but it looks very good. Thanks for sharing!
Looks delicious! I will have to try this one. Thank You.

OMG I'm so going to try this. I'm making sauerkraut for the first time in years and have been on the hunt for more recipes. Thanks so much! Your videos are very good🍻
I just stumbled across your channel this weekend and have been obsessively watching several videos. I ended up making this w/mashed potatoes, as you recommended. It was so good! I lived in Germany as a kid (in the mid 80s) and I think next I will have to try your lebkuchen and brotchen recipes. Thank you for the good food and nostalgia!
❤❤❤ Welcome to my German Food community!
Wow, that is a new way to prepare sauerkraut. It seems that it will be a little on the sweeter side. I'm sure it's delicious. Next time I habe sauerkraut, I'll have to give it a try. Danke.
It actually doesn‘t really taste sweet. But it‘s definitely less sour than usually.
I've always wondered how sauerkraut is made. This is great!
Thank you, I'm glad I could answer that question :-)
Favorite pots always have a missing handle or something...it adds to the authenticity! Gonna try this one tomorrow!
I really like this! I will use more cubed smoked pork next time for sure! I think the longer you let it simmer the better....guess its that way with anything. I think this would be really good prepared then left in a crock pot for a few hours. We may add this to my friends food truck when he goes to the German Brewery off Jones Road....Klaus Brewing Company....go by there sometime when Texas Red Chili Truck is there and I usually make one of your German dishes for the employees and anyone who wants it! They loved your crescent almond cookies!
That sounds delicious. I would have never thought pineapple would be good in sauerkraut. I will try it. You can buy a knob on Amazon for your pot. I bought one for under $10 for my enamel Dutch oven.
Thank you for the tip, I will look into it!
Es sieht sehr gut aus!
I'm still expecting a homemade, sincere and genuine sauerkraut recipe from you.. If possible.. Like the one I've tasted in Munich a hundred years ago... Without hopes, we're nothing:)
Love Aldi's sauerkraut !
Marijo Heitman right i get it all the time and the red cabbage and apple
looks amzing i get it sweet and sour savory , i will bring to the next level
Schmeckt's so gut!
I only discovered your channel today..entschuldigung!
I occasionally teach in Augsburg, volkschule, even went to German lessons to try and learn the extreme grammar!..
I am a chef, 42years, but I find your channel extremely interesting!...
I do enjoy the completely different take Bavaria/schwabia has on food.. simplistic, basic and heartily wholesome.
I'm adept at quite a few German/Bavarian styles of cooking, but I'm scunnered(Scottish word) if I can replicate the fried kartoffen from the flieschmarkt in Augsburg!.. served with 4 nurenburger, side of saurkraut and a touch of the finest mustard known to man!!
You can find the recipes of all these components on this channel, including the mustard :-)
I INTEND COOKING THIS FOR DINNER AS I LOVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SAURKRAUT. i ALSO HAVE RED RAW SAURKRAUT TO USE.
When you took out the heavy cream, I was so happy to see that you live in Texas!
Howdy! 😀
Howdy new sub here I am the only one who loves sauerkraut in my family. so I amlooking for a lot of different recipes to use it in thanks
Welcome to the channel!
Sicher interessant mal auszuprobieren.
How unusual. I would have never thought of combining pineapple and sauerkraut. But I have often found surprising food combinations to be unexpectedly wonderful in my mouth. This dish is one I certainly will try. I'm lucky to be able to find sauerkraut made in the USA. There is not any international foods on the shelves in my local store. You say to rinse. How well should it be rinsed? Lightly, so the sauerkraut is still somewhat bitter and sharp? Or rinse it very well, so the flavor is very mellowed and closer to boiled cabbage in flavor?
I must admit that I haven’t tried US Sauerkraut, yet. I only know it from descriptions that American sauerkraut should be soaked in water for like 10 minutes and then be washed and drained. Not sure if that is a general technic or only used for German recipes. Apparently american sauerkraut is salty (shouldn’t it be called saltykraut then?) and the washing reduces the salt taste. Definitely wash it for German sauerkraut recipes since our sauerkraut is sour, not salty.
Let me know how you liked the recipe when you tried it, I’m curious 😀
MyGerman Recipes Thank you for your reply. Yes indeed, US sauerkraut is extremely salty. I always drain the brine off before using it. For some dishes, draining well is all that's required before adding to the pan juices from a meal such as roasted pork. In other recipes, the drained sauerkraut is added to unsalted water or unsalted stock. I have never soaked, washed and drained sauerkraut. I will follow that step for this recipe though, to attain flavors in the finished dish, that resemble your recipe as much as possible.
Omg. I find the dish I'm making this weekend. Do you have a Facebook? So I can send pictures. There's a big boxing match this weekend and I going to make this dish for all of my friends. Thank you very much for all your videos. I do appreciate them greatly.
Sounds like a good plan! You can make the sauerkraut one day ahead - I think it tastes even better the next day. Make sure you give it a long cook time. I would be happy to see pictures and post them on my page. Send them to facebook.com/MyGerman.Recipes/ (and pls sign up!!!)
Looks delicious. I have polish soucrou, should I rinse it? Why do we have to rinse? I never cooked sourckroud, I want to.try it, please mom would you let me know if I have to rinse it. I am affraid if I rinse the sourckroud all the nutrients will go away? Thanks for the receipe:♡♡♡
If it is very salty, I recommend rinsing it. I don’t think that in salty sauerkraut is a lot of beneficial bacteria in the liquid, since the salt would kill that, so you should be good with doing it. However, if you feel more comfortable not to rinse it, keep the saltyness, just make sure it doesn’t taste overly salty by adding more cream and maybe also more liquid from the pineapples.
@@MyGermanRecipes wow! I never would have known that, saltines? Hmm, interesting :) we learn something new every day :) when I try I felt very acid, and probably I even felt the saltines, but now I know wh6 was a very different taste. Thanks so much for the reply, definitely I am going to make the creamy one your recipie cz I love milk or creams in my food, thanks againg, have a wonderful day;)
Lovely video! Thanks for sharing this recipe. Looking forward to trying it out next weekend. I buy my sauerkraut from the Polish store down the street here in Chicago where they sell it out of the tub/barrel. You’ve got me wondering if I should have been washing it before cooking :-/.
Only if it tastes very salty you need to wash it.
@@MyGermanRecipes Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Just made it. Wife and I love it! I’ll be looking up more of your recipes!
What kind of pot is that please ? thank You!
It's a Cuisinart Cookpot: amzn.to/2W7sj1C
Can you make this with red sauerkraut?
I'm assuming you mean red cabbage and I doubt it would taste good ... but maybe? I have two delicious red cabbage recipes on my channel though, maybe try those instead?
Ok I'm wondering the difference between American and German sauerkraut. Here in Pennsylvania, we buy our sauerkraut fresh in bags. You can buy canned. We always have pork and sauerkraut for New Years Day for good luck.
The American Saurkraut is more salty.
Can you use sausage instead of pork?
You can but it will taste completely different. Not sure how that matches with the pineapple.
What’s the difference between German and American sauerkraut?
The American Sauerkraut tastes more salty an is not as finely chopped.
😎
A fork is very effective for removing well-packed sauerkraut from their jars.
will cooking Sauerkraut kill off the probiotic affect
The cream is from H‑E‑B, which means you are somewhere in Texas! Guten tag y’all !
Yes, I'm in Houston.
Yes, the poor people's meal. Of course, they didn't have pineapple to cut down the acid from the kraut. This can be done by adding more fat or sugar.
Nooooooo Pineapple? very different
Yes, pineapple :-)
Real German would have made her own kraut.
I have a video about making sauerkraut if you are looking for that.
Oh, and I think I am a real German since I was born there and lived there for almost my entire life. :-)
