    NEVER, in my wildest dreams did I think you would pour in a can of pineapple and follow it with cream. I love all 3 of these food items, so I need to do this recipe. Thank you for sharing.

    We love sauerkraut at our house. I have never had creamed sauerkraut but this sure looks wonderful! When I cook sauerkraut I use a lot of diced apple, never pineapple. Will have to try it your way!

      I really like this! I will use more cubed smoked pork next time for sure! I think the longer you let it simmer the better....guess its that way with anything. I think this would be really good prepared then left in a crock pot for a few hours. We may add this to my friends food truck when he goes to the German Brewery off Jones Road....Klaus Brewing Company....go by there sometime when Texas Red Chili Truck is there and I usually make one of your German dishes for the employees and anyone who wants it! They loved your crescent almond cookies!

    I only discovered your channel today..entschuldigung!
    I occasionally teach in Augsburg, volkschule, even went to German lessons to try and learn the extreme grammar!..
    I am a chef, 42years, but I find your channel extremely interesting!...
    I do enjoy the completely different take Bavaria/schwabia has on food.. simplistic,basic and heartily wholesome.
    I'm adept at quite a few German/Bavarian styles of cooking, but I'm scunnered(Scottish word) if I can replicate the fried kartoffen from the flieschmarkt in Augsburg!.. served with 4 nurenburger,side of saurkraut and a touch of the finest mustard known to man!!

    How unusual. I would have never thought of combining pineapple and sauerkraut. But I have often found surprising food combinations to be unexpectedly wonderful in my mouth. This dish is one I certainly will try. I'm lucky to be able to find sauerkraut made in the USA. There is not any international foods on the shelves in my local store. You say to rinse. How well should it be rinsed? Lightly, so the sauerkraut is still somewhat bitter and sharp? Or rinse it very well, so the flavor is very mellowed and closer to boiled cabbage in flavor?

    • @MyGermanRecipes
      @MyGermanRecipes  6 лет назад

      I must admit that I haven’t tried US Sauerkraut, yet. I only know it from descriptions that American sauerkraut should be soaked in water for like 10 minutes and then be washed and drained. Not sure if that is a general technic or only used for German recipes. Apparently american sauerkraut is salty (shouldn’t it be called saltykraut then?) and the washing reduces the salt taste. Definitely wash it for German sauerkraut recipes since our sauerkraut is sour, not salty.
      Let me know how you liked the recipe when you tried it, I’m curious 😀

    • @loisdotcom
      @loisdotcom 6 лет назад +1

      MyGerman Recipes Thank you for your reply. Yes indeed, US sauerkraut is extremely salty. I always drain the brine off before using it. For some dishes, draining well is all that's required before adding to the pan juices from a meal such as roasted pork. In other recipes, the drained sauerkraut is added to unsalted water or unsalted stock. I have never soaked, washed and drained sauerkraut. I will follow that step for this recipe though, to attain flavors in the finished dish, that resemble your recipe as much as possible.

    • @MyGermanRecipes

      If it is very salty, I recommend rinsing it. I don’t think that in salty sauerkraut is a lot of beneficial bacteria in the liquid, since the salt would kill that, so you should be good with doing it. However, if you feel more comfortable not to rinse it, keep the saltyness, just make sure it doesn’t taste overly salty by adding more cream and maybe also more liquid from the pineapples.
