- Fixing a rusted /busted Blackstone griddle. This is common after a new season opens, or you accidently forgot to close the lid. Don't trash it, revive it. $10. I tried to show you how quickly in this video without making a 20 minute video like others.
You will need a drill, wire wheel ( I prefer the 4"), and oil for seasoning of your choice... That's it! Lets get back to griddling!
Thanks for watching. Check my channel for more VIDS and please SUBSCRIBE for more in the future.

Great video but at 4:24 my wife who was sitting across from me thought I was watching something else 😆😆.
Dude same!
This is the way. The wire wheel was good start. Mine had a lot of junk and rust. A carbide grinder disc aided that problem. Came out perfect.
Thank you for making super simple for a first time black stone owner! I was ready to get rid of it an go back to a regular grill!
Neighbors moved young guy bought the 28" Adventure Ready model early on in the pandemic. He left it on the patio...I called him he said it was rusty and didn't want it.......score.This video helped me tremendously. Wire wheel on my grinder made quick work of it, flaxseed oil 6 coats seasoned well with a bronze ring...thanks sgain.
I was just about to throw away my rusty griddle, thanks to your video it'll come back to live, thanks a lot.
FINALLLY quick and simple, I appreciate it brother
I watched a bunch of videos but using the wire brush was genius! Thanks, great video!
I just picked up a large griddle for free, did your method and it turned out great!
Omg thank you I have the same one I got 2 years ago and found this video today.. It helped a lot
Saved my butt. Thanks man! Griddle top looks like new!
Never would've thought to use my angle grinder on my Blackstone. Definitely glad I watched this before spending another 2 hours scraping away. Thanks. Subscribing to your channel now!
I never new how to season my griddle untill i watch your video thank you so much
Thank you I have an amazing Blackstone That was delivered and UPS left the box outside in the rain and it rusted before I even set it up I’ve been trying to get it fixed but I think I just found the way
Thanks now I know how to clean my griddle it has minimal rust spots but I'll clean it before it gets worst 👌👍
I used a 4 1/2 inch flapper disc (40 grit) on an angle grinder. This will strip that rusty surface down to shiny metal in no time. Use a wire wheel for the perimeter and a small wire cup for the corners. The first time I did this I used only a wire wheel. It was a pain and took a long time. Using the flapper disc cut the job in half.
That wet paper towel audio.... 😂 😂 😂
Hilarious 😆🤣
I’ve never enjoyed a blackstone video more. Please add more sound effects.
Right
I was watchin the video inside of Lowe's and that sound effect came on and had a family next to me look at me CRAZY 🤦🏻♂️
Hell Yeah Man!! Great Video. Winter does suck.
You saved me soooo much effort. Great tip!
The intro cracked me up😂 thanks dude, worked great 👍
Dude, this video helped tremendously. Thanks!
Thank you! I was contemplating trashing my large black stone griddle.
OMG don't do that 😮
One of the few people smart enough to just remove rusted plate and fix it away from actual griddle. I saw that and I quickly realized this guy knows his shit. Good video brother.
This the video I was looking for thanks man great vid🤙🏽🍺
Helpful... I was about to chuck mine
Great video Brother!!! And yep winter SUCKS🤣
Awesome! Thanks so much for making the quick fix video!
Good stuff. Quick and easy
I like to use a propane torch in the corners just to make sure they get evenly and fully seasoned as well.
Wish I watched your video before I ordered a new one!
Thanks for the info. Gained a fan of one video.
Thanks dude. I thought i had to throw mine away 🤣
Great video I’ve looking for this kind of video for mine
Love it did it and turned out amazing.
Appreciate the video and your tips.Thank you, 😁👌🇺🇲
Great video Brian!! I let my griddle top get rough all winter and it now looks way worse than yours did. Lol. I’m gonna follow your advice and bring it back like new. Very informative and easy to follow. Thanks brother!!
I just did mine again this year… best thing is you can just keep doing it year over year, comes back just as nice. Best of luck - take care.
@@BrianEaly I am in Texas and the humidity is killing mine. If I do this, I'm worried that the rust will come back faster.
Wire wheel, flap disk, orbital sander, mouse for corners, sanding block if ya need to sweat however you typically sand steel smooth on a steel project works. Get her done and then soak her down with lube. Preferably not KY and then smoke her in tight. Gosh this sounds like a great spring project. Wish I could do it at least once a week. She said ok if ya want to. 😳
My wife will love me now for Mother’s Day. Lol Been busy and wanting to fix our Blackstone and now we can. She loves it when grill out on family Sunday’s. Thanks, bro!
Thanks for watching it, and you better treat her right tomorrow… or your ass is in the dog house! Lol. Take care man, and happy Mother’s Day to your wife!
Awesome video man
you kinda skipped showing how you removed the dust from the wire wheel. You said you used dawn, then moved over to the oil.
How do you apply the dawn, how do you remove the dawn clearner?
Great job my brother!!! Peace.
You had me at a few beers
Mine is not rusty at all but it has some serious flaking can I still use that wire wheel?
I few beers 😂 🍻 thanks for the help
Help Please. I did this today, looked real nice being free of all the rust and burnt spots. I rinsed off all the debri. Than as I turn on grill to fry it off first it started to rust every where, even worse than it was before 😩 what I do wrong? Rinse it???
My bro, thank you!
Thank you a million times
Appreciate this video
Great vid! Simple and cheap fix. Scream at the beginning , that’s true shit there!!!
How many times can you do something like this?
Hey man I saw this somewhere else, but have you tried using a blowtorch for the sides?
Thank you, new sub
Thank you buddy 🍻
Good stuff
The outside edges did not season very well. Saw on a video. The poster flipped the griddle over ,and painted the underside with high heat grill paint. If you spring for the wind shields. They may make the griddle heat up more evenly. Maybe even save on gas.
What video can u link iy
Can you use peanut oil?
Tx, dude!
Thank you I was about to throw mine away
Thanks man
Doing this now!
Can’t u just treat it with vinegar???
Thanks
That's a happy paper towel, lol
You have been the easiest directions to follow... I followed another dudes "easy" fix and it's still rusty with rust residue 🤦♀️
Had 2 blackstones for 2 the other 4 years. Never rusted. The problem is ppl dont know how to care for it. Seasoning is a big reason
You can also use Diet Coke on the rusted parts and aluminum foil to help rub off the rust....
Can it be sand blasted?
Prolly work 100% better… I actually have a sand blaster I’ve done some videos with but I tried to relate to the more common home owner / general tool users. If you have access blast that bad boy.
Great video the moan had me dying ☠️🤣
This is NUTS > going standard now ( one hour ??? )
Do I really need a griddle cover?
If it’s outside, your going to want one, or they rust quick. They sell the soft canvas ones made by blackstone if you want a cheaper option. Thanks, take care.
Olive oil for seasoning?
I think that’s better than rancid vegetable oils but you do you. I’d prefer bacon grease but ooooh that might be rancid. What’s the difference. I ate fried chicken as a kid fried in bacon grease. Go down that rabbit hole on your favorite search engine. Or ask someone old who’s still alive. Which do ya trust. I mean ask someone you can actually see in person that’s alive and talking to you. Not me on a keyboard. Heck cooking on cast iron might give you iron poisoning. OMG not deadly iron poisoning. You don’t want that. 😂😂😂. Maybe it’s a really good thing. Happy grilling 😉. Hope I helped 5:55
You mentioned Dawn dish soap and I had a flashback. As the only deckhand on a shrimp boat I had to cook. I proceeded to clean a cast skillet with dawn and thought I was gonna get thrown overboard and left for dead. Old school captain schooled me to never use dawn on cast iron 🤷♂️. Never again. Only boiling water. Heard a lot of different theories since but I don’t do it. Boiling water only for me. Don’t actually know what is best or ok just know what I will never do again. The Gulf of Mexico can hide many of souls. 😳😳😳. True story. I also left that job and went back to finish carpentry really quickly. Actually bailed mid trip. Sorry Captain.
4:21…. I lost my fucking shit 😂😂😂☠️🤌🏼 Quality
What they hell was going on at 4:24 when the woman groans?😅
I died at 425 😂😂😂😂
4:22 nobody noticed the moan?
Great Vid - Anyone else catch the chick moaning at 4:22 into the video. lol
it still had rust
If you used a wire brush and still have rust you probably need to buy a new griddle top.
@@charwie4849 no, his flattop still had rust
NEVER USE A WIRE WHEEL OR BRUSH. The wires break off and you can ingest them.
Less of an issue with flat tops if you scrap and clean it properly everytime.
Please do not do what this guy did… never use wire on a cooking surface nor dawn….
