I hope people read this: it’s not about how many reps you can do, it’s about the quality of those reps. If you’re a beginner in calisthenics, you want to aim for more volume. But the primary focus should be on technique and building a strong mind muscle connection.
It really depends on your body weight. Me for example, I’m 14 and can do approximately 54 clean pushups, but my bw(body weight) is 60 kilos. Dont demotivate yourself just because you can’t do the “expected amount”, it heavily depends.
This is true. When I was 12, I used to do around 50-60 in a row, its because I was thin and didn't weight much. Nowadays, I do 40 clean pushups in a row and get very rusty beyond 35 reps. Due to being tall and weigh more.
75 seems a little excess. I recommend a different type of pushup if normal pushups start to seem to easy. Look into different variations and find your maximum with them, then do sets of 2-3 less than your max and you should be well off. Happy workouts!

Wow such a great story. Maybe if you combined them with cardio activities like swimming or running, you can stack up max rep faster than you could imagine. I am 61 years old and could do 65 clean, full extension up and down push-ups, and 85, half extension “prison push-ups“. I also do the “bring Sally up” push-up challenge five days a week training your mind and discipline is the most important thing. Motivation doesn’t matter.
The average man/woman in today's world can do exactly zero push-ups. Edit: For those of you engaging in a push-up competition in the replies, do you consider yourself one of the average lazy and overweight dummies overpopulating the earth? If not, then the zero push-ups thing doesn't apply to you.
For people who find it hard or don’t it can depend on your weight. If u are naturally built light u will have a easy time doing more push-ups ore pull ups than sb who’s naturally heavier. But also a heavier person will most likely be able to bench significantly more. All depends on for what u train

I’m 12 years old, pretty small, about 5’8 and 109 pounds and I can in one sitting do anywhere between 25-40 pushups in one set depending on if I’ve worked out earlier that day
Have 1-2 rest days between pushups and do 4x sets to failure otherwise you will not grow muscle effectively! Make it more challenging to make it so you can only do about 15 reps per set before failure for better hypertrophy!

I’m 13, i can do 93 reps in a row. In a month I’m turning 14, and yes, i have checked my form for flaws, and find none. I even checked it with a personal trainer, told me it was good. I am aiming for 100 consecutively before 14 years old, wish me luck. 💪👍🏻
Sounds like you did not live your life properly. I don’t like this notion that when you get older you get less mobile. No. I’m going be doing calisthenics and keep my body fresh until I’m dead.
Reminder: if u can’t do a lot of push-ups like this guy don’t worry. The amount of push-ups you can do also mainly matters on your weight and size so don’t be sad. Just focus on getting a perfect form even if u can only do 5-10 push-ups. After you get the perfect form then you’ll slowly increase the amount of push-ups you do. And if u can’t do a push-up that’s also okay, we all start somewhere. Do easier variations like inclined push-ups and focus on reps. Hope that helps.

Pushups to be effective are not about the number alone, it's about how much of your core/back you involve in the movement, your control over the movement, your speed (the slower=more gravity resistance=better for muscle training) and depends on which parts you want to train, some pushups are easier (back/shoulder pushups, some are harder chest/tricep pushups). If you only focus on the number it's as of you focused on the kg of food you eat without counting calories, proteins, fat and sugar, it's not a one in all solution, you need to adapt to your needs, if you're at the beginning start with number of push-ups, then start with control and involving specific isolated muscles and after you got that train with different speeds, the slower and more controlled you get, the better the outcomes, some try and change the angle or using weight, but we don't live on the moon or a sayian space machine, we can use gravity as one of the weights up to a certain point, after that you should use weights/gym tools/calisthenics because push ups can only train your core, back and some part of your triceps/chest, to fully train all your body you can add sprints after workouts, biceps, triceps, abs, pull ups and whatever you enjoy the most remembering to do an all around workout, you don't want to look with 0 abs while having massive core/back as if you only got that physique through hard labour and you don't want to look like a skinny 6-8-10 pack stick man, balance is key but also don't focus too much on the shredded look unless you're near summer time, your body NEEDS fat otherwise whenever you get the flu or an injury, say goodbye to the last year of weight/muscle training, shredded dehydrated looks are only good for modelling/photos, not for actual consistent health and long term aesthetics+strength.
@@pouryamahmoudi1234 for muscle training between the two I'd say 25, after 30 it's more of a resistance training than muscle training. It's like diving vs swimming, one requires you controlled and smooth breathing while contracting the right muscles with the right movement, the other you only have the right movement and rush through it with the oxygen you stored in your lungs.
Decent advice except pushups don't really train your back in any significant way, even though you fully retract and protract your scapula. If you want to train your back with oushups do bridge pushups
For anyone watching that doesn't even come close to these numbers don't stress about it. He is pulling these numbers out of thin air. Lmao no these numbers are statistical. Cope harder My 15 yr old PE class (guys) has an average of 20 push-ups for each of us. (One kid can’t do any and brings our average down lol) You’re just coping cuz ur bad at pushups.
@@superidol238 Buddy this isnt about me. I have been training calisthenics for 5 years, i can do my push ups. Let me ask you this. How many 16 to 19 yo girls do you know repping 19 to 24 push ups ? Even pro women that do gymnastics cant pull these numbers. The average person cant even perform a push up with proper form let alone 24 of them at 16. And thats fine we all started from somewhere but denying the fact that people are not just born with the ability to rep out push ups for days is very harmful and discouraging towards beginners.

I remember in grade 4 or 5 we had a pushup contest which i won after pumping out 86 pushups. I used to do them all the time growing up and it felt like my time to shine. It was one of the most glorious moments of my life having the entire class cheering and counting in amazement.
43 years old. 6'4" 240lbs. I do 4 sets of 50 pushups per day. If i get sore, I move my hands closer or farther from my hips. I did 92 in a row when i was 21 in the army. Great for functional strength.
Wow dude I don’t comment on shit but you just described me. I hit 91 I think exactly in the navy my 5th or 6th year in and I was really really trying. Currently I do 4-6 sets of 40 throughout the day.
Kinda a waist of time if you just do weighted push and save the time on the sets. Also I highly doubt this because testosterone levels decline at 30 and atrophy starts to kick in seeing that you are 13 years older than that you are on performance enhancing medication or on trt to even possibly achieve this…… or you’re just full of shit.
I used only be able to do a few knee pushups then I’ve been doing as much as I can for a couple weeks every day and now I can do 10 solid good form pushups I’m proud of myself
as a 14 y/o who can do 60 without stopping, don’t let this be your goal. do as many as u can every night and you will see results. the goal is not to be average, seek discomfort
Quantity doesn’t matter if you have awful form. How hard Push-ups are depends on your weight as well. If you don’t weight shit then it’s not going to be difficult. Most grown men can’t do 60 in a row with proper form.
I’m 64 and do sets of 40-50. 4-5 sets along with other things. If you can’t do any do 1 right now. 5 is your goal in a week and go up from there. Set your goal. Don’t worry about someone else’s. Be safe.
Another thing to take into consideration is form and time under tension. A good pushup with proper form at a slower speed on the way down is significantly harder than what the average person would do, so that number does also vary depending on that
Underappreciated answer. Plus your body weight will add a lot of difficulty + goals. If your goal is to do heavy loads or build up to a planche, then doing sets of 10+ reps, it's not a good goal to try and do 30 reps.
I am currently 12, and around 2 weeks ago, I wasn’t even able to do a single push-up. I’ve been doing daily pushups and knee sit-ups when I fail, and now I can do 10 😊❤

Woman, 42yr old 42 push-ups. Guessing that’s not too bad. Disclaimer, I do 3 sets of 20 push-ups every day. It is important to stay strong especially the older we get
I am surprised that by doing ONLY 3 sets , and in those sets you ONLY do half of your maximum reps (only 20 reps) you can maintain your maximum. I encourage you to this experiment. After a rest day, that you do not do any pushups, you measure again that your maximum is still 40-42 pushups. Do nothing else on this measurement day. Then start doing 3 times per week (for example Tue-Thurs-Sat) pushups, but do 4 sets (not 3) of 30 reps. Keep it for 2 months, and then after 2 rest days measure again your maximum pushups.
@@prs867 Yes every day. I do them in sets in a pyramid. 1 pushup, get on my knees, and do one shoulder press, no wéights. 😂
Nice
But a question
50 fast reps is better or 25 reps but slow?
Does it really have diffrent outcome?
@@pouryamahmoudi1234 for muscle training between the two I'd say 25, after 30 it's more of a resistance training than muscle training. It's like diving vs swimming, one requires you controlled and smooth breathing while contracting the right muscles with the right movement, the other you only have the right movement and rush through it with the oxygen you stored in your lungs.

@Krabby Patties That's why we have PRs
The fact that bro did pushups doing the whole video is crazy
It is not about how many you can do. Its about is every pushup you are doing is a good quality pushup.
Quality over quantity.
Exactly but if you can do more push-ups with high quality form then push yourself to do them
How many without stopping
Yes but 40 good quality pushups vs 20 good quality pushups is still double

Now watch her get less likes just because she's a woman.
@@guyincognito5663 we can change that, support women in their goals too brah 💪
I am surprised that by doing ONLY 3 sets , and in those sets you ONLY do half of your maximum reps (only 20 reps) you can maintain your maximum. I encourage you to this experiment. After a rest day, that you do not do any pushups, you measure again that your maximum is still 40-42 pushups. Do nothing else on this measurement day. Then start doing 3 times per week (for example Tue-Thurs-Sat) pushups, but do 4 sets (not 3) of 30 reps. Keep it for 2 months, and then after 2 rest days measure again your maximum pushups.

That’s awesome
@@prs867 Yes every day. I do them in sets in a pyramid. 1 pushup, get on my knees, and do one shoulder press, no wéights. Then two pushups, then two shoulder press, no weights, Then 3 + 3.- Then 4 + 4. Up to 10 and back to 1. It may sound easy with the shoulder press using only your arms, but trust me, if you are un trained, your shoulders will burn when you get to 7 repetitions..

Exactly. My teenage daughter can, but she worked up to it for a while. These numbers are made up.
