      NinjaFresh 😂 It was a very long explanation (let me rephrase. A very long and EXHAUSTING SJW emotional response). Something about Blade isn’t a hero bc he’s really a villain and the black in the character wasn’t emphasized (I explained the White was never emphasized in any hero I ever knew to which I was told “exactly.”). As with most “debates” with lefties, it’s exhausting bc no matter how many facts I hit the man with, I got emotional responses. Namely the google definition of an antihero (to which I was directed) and the google definition of a hero (to which I was directed). His “argument” essentially came down to the fact that Blade didn’t come from Africa, didn’t save anyone, and therefore couldn’t be considered a “black hero.” Trust me. I tried asking simple questions like “Are you sure you saw Blade?” I think I ended up sending the guy to Cartman’s safe space. Bullet proof windows and all.

      NinjaFresh Thats a good question. I never asked what color he or she was (it might have been a zey...that’s one of their pronouns right?). But yes. It was exhausting and irrational like every convo or “debate” I’ve ever had with a far lefty. Traditional liberals can actually have legit conversations without bringing in words they define at that moment. Don’t always have to agree. But they at least don’t get all emotional. These modern lefties though - it’s beyond exhausting. If I were a Crowder, Shapiro, Elder, Owens, etc - I’d demand a high ass salary! I don’t think any of us will ever understand how they think. Really makes me rethink sending my kids to a university without SERIOUS vetting first. They teach this crap in colleges now and flat shut down any conservative talking points.

    The comics give a better explanation of the process of becoming black panther: first you must defeat the previous black panther or his chosen champion, you can eat the herb/drink the juices made from the herb then you must be chosen by the panther God as worthy. And even if you get to the last step, unless your body /physiology is correct (only T'challa's family has been so far in the comic), the Herb WILL KILL YOU if your system isn't purged of it. Meaning yes you can go through the combat and be chosen just to die of food poisoning.

In the MCU's timeline, did the slaves overtake North America and singlehandedly wage war against the white Americans, demanding freedom after they proved their superiority by crushing the Caucasians?

      Funny thing is that when I thought about it later, it stoped looking so silly. If Vibranium in its basic state could be as pliable as copper (so that even stone-age/bronze-age humies could work with it) but at the same time with developing new ways to process it (through some alloys or refining etc) to make it harder and purer centuries later , it really could kickstart your society in technology way above rest of the world.
      This premise is not as crazy as it sounds. Even today we have many inventions that could work miracles if only we had the right superconductor and so on.
      Of course fact that they did not conquer rest of the world and that they stayed hidden all the time is silly. But if Vibranium existed it could make Wakanda as strong as it did. Only thing I would love to see more is if they would put higher emphasis on them almost worshiping that metal.

      @@bbjygm Because Ultron’s statement doesn’t make sense if he’s referring to vibranium.
      Vibramium *isn’t* “the most versatile substance”, it’s a metal that absorbs vibrations. Making a shield out of it is the best use possible. And Cap’s shield isn’t “a frisbee,” it’s one of the most versatile (heh) weapons in the world, with both defensive and offensive capabilities that can be use as both a melee weapon and a long-distance weapon.

    T'Challa is the creator of the suit in the comics as well as being an engineering and programming genius on the level of Tony Stark and Reed Richards(See Illuminati in Marvel comics), and is considered to be one of the top three martial artists in the world. That is why he is uniquely the Panther. The Panther did not wear the suit before T'Challa. It's his invention. I don't know why they divested him of this save they found it too parallel with Iron Man(Frankly it is why the two constantly butt heads in the comics. They are mirror images of each other: heirs to their respective kingdoms who rebelled to become superheroes). Also, Wakanda is a monarchy. You cannot challenge for kingship. (Killmonger, via comics, assumed the throne through being a rightful heir when T'Challa was presumed dead, not by punching people. He did punch some people, though.) You CAN challenge to become the Black Panther in a yearly tournament, which is a domestic military position seperate from the Ruler. It makes more sense, as you would want a strong warrior to protect the kingdom. The Panther is NOT however in charge of the military. Many of T'Challa's problems in the comics come from him trying to be in both roles, which was mostly unprecedented; that and he's a interdimensional f-boy(see T'Challa and Susan Richards, and Storm, and...you get it.). In the comics, Wakanda is not some stylized central-African village with laser lighting. It is futuristic, although their clothing remains some weird mix of a dozen different countries. And they have guns. Lots of guns. Okay AND spears, but they are energy projectile weapons. They do not share the Herb with the general Wakandan public because it was the center of a huge conflict in the past. So it was ruled that only the Panther will take it, and anyone is welcome to tryout. Good luck beating the best fighter in the hemisphere, though. I find the movie pandering. Rhino's? Really?

    As a black person, I was very excited for Black Panther. I watched with my family when it came out in February and absolutely loved everything about it - the acting, the plot, the music, everything. Fast forward to December 2018 and me and my family watched it again for Christmas ... and I immediately realised I initially viewed the film through rose-tinted glasses simply because it had a predominately black cast and focused on black culture. I found that I wasn't as invested in the story as I was back in February, the jokes weren't as funny and everything about the film was just very, very average. I don't hate it by any means, but I definitely do not love it anymore. It's just ... there for me.

    MauLer, thank you so much for these. There are so few "review" channels that get into what's ACTUALLY wrong with movies. It's usually someone sitting and talking about how scenes were bad, it was miss cut, it was slapped together, or other surface level problems. I'm a person that cant sit through a movie if it doesn't make sense. I cant tell you how many times my wife has told me to "just shut up and watch" after explaining that things simply dont add up. If you did this for more things, not specifically movies as I enjoyed your rage on GoT equally' I would watch each and every one multiple times. As I have with each of your currently published "Unbridled Rage" series. I wish I had the means to do this myself, but the best I can do is make exceedingly long Facebook posts that only my friends and family may or may not read. My first time watching this movie, I couldn't understand why there was an issue at all. You killed someone who was going to shoot someone. How does that need to be a seceret? Why can't you take the boy back to Wakanda? Why cant you put him in the U.S. foster system? Were they lying because they didnt want anyone to know he had a kid? WHY ARE YOU LYING?! Why are you making problems where there are none? It drove me absolutely insane! People DROOLED over how good this movie was and I just couldnt fucking understand a single thing! Why didnt T'chala just tell Get Out? This movie is comparable to a bad soap opera. Is Not-Girlfriend going to get amnesia next and have an affair with T'chalas long lost evil twin brother? • @King-Brando
      @King-Brando 6 лет назад +83

      The difference is that they all have certain rules as to how each one is supposed to work. Sure, it seems stupid complaining about a metal being inconsistent when you put it like that, but we accept everything else because the individual rules each one sticks by. Vibrainium has it's rules clearly stated, and then proceeds to ignore those rules because the plot needs it to. And that's the problem people have with it.

    • @sweettacular9899
      @sweettacular9899 6 лет назад +5

      King Brando When did they explain all of Vibranium’s rules and properties - i.e. “it can do X but it can’t do Y and this is how it works” - in this movie? Also, Shuri didn’t necessarily say that the suit that utilizes kinetic energy like that is only composed of vibranium, so it’s unclear if it would even have to strictly obey rules of vibranium anyway. Their technology is insanely advanced, and Shuri is a genius, so who’s to say she can’t make something that selectively uses kinetic energy? Sure, they didn’t sit down and explain all this in detail and give us the rules of how it all works, but do they explain how Ulysses’ arm thing works, or how Wakandan spears shoot energy projectiles, or how Iron Man’s nanotech suit works, or how Stormbreaker summons the Bifrost, or how everyone can breathe on Titan in IW? No, because in the grand scheme of things, those are relatively small and insignificant details that we just have to suspend our disbelief about - and the inner workings of BP’s kinetic energy suit is included in that category for me.

    • @sweettacular9899
      @sweettacular9899 6 лет назад +2

      Jona I meant that the (ostensibly) magical beings who form the basis of Norse mythological Gods do literally exist in the MCU. Whether or not they’re actual gods is more of a semantic, definitional issue; Odin says they aren’t, but there’s a bit of a grey area there as to what exactly constitutes “a God” (vs the singular God) to the MCU humans. The underlying point is that the MCU hosts all sorts of absurdities and logical impossibilities that don’t even attempt to correspond to our reality - so to single out certain (relatively) insignificant details for a realism test is disingenuous and self-defeating.

    • @King-Brando
      @King-Brando 6 лет назад +17

      My point exactly. They don't bother to explain how vibranium works because I'm fairly certain they themselves didn't know and just hoped that we wouldn't care. In the comics, it's just a really bullet proof metal, in the MCU, it literally does anything the plot needs it to. Sure they don't explain every other piece of tech, but for the most part it's easy to understand. Especially since it all (mostly) seems to consist of more than just vibrainium, unlike the suit.

      Actually one thing MauLer completely missed was that part of the way Wakanda keeps itself hidden from the world is by creating the facade that they are poor african nation. The reason they still use spears is because they want the rest of the world to think they don't have advanced weapons, when in truth the spears are actually more advanced than outsiders would realize. This is also seen with the border guards who have seemingly ordinary African cloaks that are actually highly advanced shields. The people the rest of the world see are the border tribe who only make themselves appear to be poor in order to keep the real wakanda hidden... And the reason why the advanced buildings look the way they do is because a country's architecture is often influenced by its culture; just because they are advanced doesn't mean they are gonna copy western style buildings especially if they were building them before the west was.

Btw the spears made of a material strong enough to stop a car going at a really fast speed are enough to draw attention to Wakanda's weaponry and boil this whole mess.

    Coming from an African guy boy this video was somewhat of an eye opener. I mean I thought Black Panther was kickass and awesome in Civil War and was kinda excited for his own movie and when I watched it I thought I liked some stuff but I didn't really think all that much of it. Something about all the hype around it bothered me though and I hoped it wasn't something as blatant as race. But it was.
    Sometimes I feel I didn't hate or dislike a movie since after a year or so if I'm no longer thinking about it I feel it was maybe ok but watching this made me realize the reason I didn't think about Black Panther was I forgot a lot of the movie as it was boring or too predictable.
    Personally as a black guy (and I'm sure others can relate?) I'm sick and tired of slavery movies so I thought a movie like this would be great but...it was so so heavy handed with all the virtue signalling and "wow white guys are evil because of shit their ancestors did and blacks are awesome" that I cringed at a lot of it. Watching this video made me come to terms with all the things that made me not really care to remember it. I don't feel like I'm empowered as a black guy cause of this movie and I don't see how it's a cultural milestone honestly. Just make a good damn movie and stop telling us it's good cause it has black people, that's actually insulting.

The African nations with the lowest GDP are the ones that were never colonies. And nor did i once hear anyone talk about race. It was just great actors and a great movie.

    • @triggerme6144
      @triggerme6144 6 лет назад +89

      No, not at all, especially if using the tribal system in black panther, aka trail by combat. In most tribal systems, might makes right rather then right producing might.
      While groups of friends can be somewhat tribal, seeing as how gangs have territory and have wars over them, most aren't. There is no set leadership among groups of friends, people may leave and come as they please and only gain a title if the group takes part in activities.
      Sports teams can be said to be tribal, as there is a trail by combat to see which players will be the most favored, however the leader isn't chosen this way. The fans are just mobs and run by anarchy, the will of the mob really.
      Brands, nope, just nope. Once again, mostly mob rule.
      Politics, once again. No.

      This'd also help explain the markets. As, peasant markets tend not to offer much exceptionally valuable, since then the nobles would have no reason not to rob everything.

    41:09 actually, taking out something that’s been stabbed into you can often be fatal. It’s blocking your veins, arteries, and sometimes even the heart, from internally and/or externally bleeding, and by taking out the object you can sometimes greatly increase a victim’s glance of death, and in some cases it will almost instantly kill them.

      A bit of a late post, but here I go anyway:
      Knifes block wounds from bleeding out if you keep them in. This is sometimes true (it depends on the shape of the knife). There us an important condition though. You need to keep still. If the knife moves, you're causing extra damage which can/will negate the seal.
      The big issue with Killmonger is that they pretend that the knife blocks a stab to the heart from bleeding out. The heart does not keep still. It constantly moves with the pumping if blood and all that jazz. On top of it, they move him, at least partially under his own power, over a long distance. Moving his arms would move the muscles in his chest, which would move the knife. Considering that he got stabbed during a periond of heavy exertion, and the short period afterwards where they talk, his heart rate would go down. Then when he moves to the surface, his heart rate will go up again. There is literally no way the knife blocks the wound for that entire period, with all the movement, and his changes in heart rate.

    Not often we get a movie that is so politicised. I saw an article with the title, "Black Panther shows us what Africa could have become", and goes on to qualify, if it had not been raped by 'white' conquerors.
    There was no sign the author of it was aware that Africa was plundered by everyone, regardless of skin colour, and black Africans did plenty of plundering of their own, selling their fellow man into bondage when they weren't massacring each other.
    Also lost on the author was the fact that Wakanda is only successful in the film because of Vibranium, which ... doesn't exist. They try to go on and use diamonds instead, without apparently realising that diamonds are intrinsically worthless, and their worth is artificial, being generated by a controlled market and an awesome PR campaign, neither of which Africans were responsible for.
    But, far left activists got in on the stupid too, pointing out that this was a perfect society, the opposite of what far-right people want. That is until someone pointed out that Wakanda is an insular techno-hoarding ethno-state content to see millions of black Africans live in mud huts due to intense xenophobia, which is pretty much what the far-left would usually accuse the far-right of wanting to some degree or another.
    But beyond all that, my true bafflement came when black athletes started doing the "Wakanda forever" salute, unironically. I get fandom, and I like a good film as much as the next person, but if, say for example, I saw athletes using the Vulcan hand sign seriously, I'd laugh my ass off. The Wakanda Forever salute became something of a black pride gesture, and nobody seems concerned that it's rooted in fantasy.
    Still, a pretty solid film. Just ... yeah, strange political and cultural impact.

      This movie benefited hugely from political agenda, an indeed Wakanda is a nationalist country akin to the ideals of far right, yet just because in it blacks are the ruling power, lefties embrace it as if it was their ideal, which goes on to show that political agendas are what rules the narrative, not reason.
