    Why can't the PS-Move Service or TrinusPSVR track the HMD lights?

    you don't need to open freepie as no commands have to be run, PSMoveFreePieBridge already runs FreePieIO Protocol, you only need running FreePie if you need to conver the protocol to FreeTrack or other, but that's only if you are using a google Cardboar with RiftCat

    Is this still something that is viable to do if you don't have a Vive? I'm seeing PS Eye cameras on the cheap quite often at thrift stores and was wondering if they are still a key component in this. If so, is it worth grabbing a few of them to set this up? Can other USB webcams be used in place of them, or is there something specific to the PS Eye that makes you require those for this setup? I don't have a PSVR yet, but was planning on picking one up sometime before the end of the year. I figured if I had a PSVR, this might be a neat way to set it up for Steam VR as well. So if I can get any of the additional parts I will need before hand that would be a bonus.

    • @jraegames3804
      @jraegames3804  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah it is still a viable option... Check out my newer videos on Driver4VR for another alternative.
      In terms of cameras, the option shown in this video requires the PS3 Eye cameras as the software was made specifically for it.

  • @iamapie13
    @iamapie13 7 лет назад

    yes, you can turn the controller off, it was implemented in PS Move service months ago, you gotta put the serial number of the controller in a settings file of steam VR, I have 3 psmove controllers aswell, and I have it set up so Steam VR doesn't even see the 3rd one as it is only for positional tracking,
    you gotta go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config" and open the file "steamvr.vrsettings" with notepad, then add the following line:
    "psmove_settings" : {
    "psmove_filter_hmd_serial" : "(PS Move Bluetooth serial number)",
    },
    also, now you don't need to buy a 3rd PS Move controller, you can mount a Ping Pong ball as shown in this instructions github.com/cboulay/PSMoveService/wiki/Virtual-HMDs

    • @jraegames3804
      @jraegames3804  5 лет назад +1

      You have several options... the headset will work without anything for rotational tracking because of the built in gyros. However, if you want positional tracking you will either need to use PS3 cameras with PSMoveService, Kinect with Driver4VR or Nolo VR.

    Is there an ideal height for the tripod/cameras? Does it need to be over the headset or can short 1m height tripods work?

    • @jraegames3804
      @jraegames3804  7 лет назад +1

      Well... if they are short, then they need to be moved further back. The best is to have them mounted as high as possible and then angled down so that it can see the play area. Experiment with it and see how it tracks. If you have dead zones, move the cameras around until it is better. Hope this helps... thanks for watching!

  • @jason002YT
    @jason002YT 7 лет назад

    Jraegames I'd like to know, is it perfect tracking? You say it plays great, but that could mean a lot of different things. Is it comparable to Rift and Vive? I tried the PSmoveservice for the Move controllers with two PS eyes & tripods several months ago, and it was terrible tracking. It was just a waste of my time and money.

    • @jraegames3804
      @jraegames3804  7 лет назад

      There are many reviews out there that compare the different tracking options. I will never say that it is "perfect" but it is dependant on a number of factors. How well did you do your initial calibration? Is your computer fast enough to keep up? Are your connections to the cameras as fast as possible? Is your bluetooth adapter fast enough? There are many factors that can result in less than perfect tracking but I will say that when it is working well, it is awesome and very comparable to the Rift and Vive. Hope this helps... Thanks for watching!

    I don't get why when i play a racing game in VR, the inside cockpit, the dashboard etc seems to almost float and move when i move my head. In my opinion, the car should be fairly stable in the same place while your head moves, like it does in a real car. Unless of course you are going over a bumpy road. I've tried everything, and can't get rid of it. Gives me really bad sickness to the point i've had to stop playing them. Unless i force my head to not move at all, and just focus directly in front of me. Are there any settings that deal with this? My main game is Project Cars 2 on steamvr. I've tried the 4 camera PS eye setup and the Driver4VR with my xbox 360 kinnect camera. The 360 kinnect camera works really well for positional, but i still get the same issue once inside the car. I've tried without positional also, just psvr with trinusvr, and same thing. Who knows, maybe it's just that game, but i don't want to spend more money on other games if i get the same issue.

    • @jraegames3804
      @jraegames3804  6 лет назад

      Strange... I don't get the same issue. I will see if I can find a solution for you.

    • @thexfilez2450
      @thexfilez2450 6 лет назад

      Even when i'm in the main VR room when you open TrinusVr and send the signal across to the headset. You know the room with the wooden flooring etc. Well if i move my head around, it's like the whole room is moving. I'm not saying as much as the actual headset movement, but to me, the room should be almost stationary while i'm moving my head. This is what is causing the motion sickness issue for me. Like if i stare at my real TV on my wall and move my head, my physical TV does not move f course, but within this VR, the walls, the floor and the screen on the wall are all moving. I've watched your video and it doesn't seem like yours does it. I don't get this same thing when i'm hooked to the PS4.

    Hi Jae, I'm using two ps eye cameras, psvr and two psmove controller (at the moment i'm not using positional tracking for HMD, maybe in the future) with trinus and PSMoveSteamVRBridge. Correct me if I'm wrong, with Driver4VR, a kinect and two ps moves is possible, right? But that software uses psmove services (as PSMoveSteamVRBridge does) to track ps move controllers, so in theory it can be done, using the same method.
