We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

Congratulations. All the blood, sweat and tears to get Yabá from wreck to dream has finally paid off. Seeing Yabá touch the water for the first time in nearly 3 years made me tear up. Yabá is truly where she belongs and I can’t wait for the maiden voyage.

Why have so many of us old guys shed so many tears of joy today? I thought we were supposed to be old, grizzled and stoic. I am so happy and proud of you guys. Hard to believe we have followed you for over three years on this journey.
It looks like you have a bunch of senior fans. I, too, am 77 years old - and an old sailor (in both senses: I owned sailboats in my younger days, and am retired from the US Navy Reserve). You two are my Heroes - living my dream. Fair winds and following seas, plankowners. BZ

Rebuilding Yabá was a hell of an adventure. I remember the very first days of the refit, when all these defeatist people were commenting you would never succeed in fixing Yabá, that you would give up soon and so on... all these comments you did not need to read at this point.
What a lesson you gave to all of us. Not brave maybe, resilient yes, definitely. You've been following your dreams for months and years and now Yabá is afloat.
Congratulation to you both and all the team/workers/friends/family who trust in you and helped you.
