  • Here is episode 3 of The Program, a show on the RQ Network.
The Program is set in a future in which Money, State, and God have been fused into a single entity. Each story explores ordinary people inhabiting this extraordinary world. And for them, it's not this future that's terrifying - it's our present.

The program fills the space, resonating as the voice of god in the new world it created. A cruel god, which measures the effective value of misery as the cost of joy. A god which turns a blind eye to crimes deemed morally profitable.

So the society point system is basically the same as the one from the book called "Gun With Occasional Music" by Johnathan Lethem.
The parable Teacher mentioned is from a story called "Those Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Ursula K. Guin.

Oooookaaaaaay.... A society ruled by an overarching program that appears to have inhabitants find peace, joy, and contentment through violence. You know, this sounds a little like the Westworld story arc set in "present day."

The “Parable” the Teacher tells is actually a short story by science fiction author Ursula LeGuin it’s called
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
