They did edit and polished the audio and her vocals though, in the final version.
It was a great idea to have her sing live on set. Those veins pumping in her neck added raw emotion to the scene. When I saw it I was wondering how did she manage to look like she was really singing... Got my answer, she was.
Though they most likely didn't use that.
Even if she could deliver a great live performance of it, properly recording that voice in the clarity and quality nessecary for a movie score is FAR easier in a studio.
Singing live usually serves the purpose of making the visuals more authentic.

Most actors that sing in movies actually sing live. And like the majority of cases, had the song made it into the movie (regarding Desert Moon), they'd have dubbed it over with a studio cut for "better" sound quality. Doesn't matter how good an actor can sing, the final cut will almost always get dubbed over with the studio cut of the song.
Everyone’s always like “will smith will smith, he is just so awesome!” And he deserves every bit of it, but can we give some props to Mena Massoud? Slow and fast motion singing? Did his own stunts? Why is he not getting any love?

Heartattackbacon honestly same. I think a lot of people think acting is easy on set but it looks pretty challenging. You have to really get into character with a whole crew watching you and in movies like this youre surrounded by a lot of green screen so you have to imagine things yourself to pull certain scenes off perfectly

Believe me, acting is not at all easy. Majority of the time it's awkward, because it's completely silent and you have to deliver lines and panic in some scenes by yourself. It's all about editing. If you're in a very extreme scene and you're running through an abandoned building or something, it's completely silent and you can hear your own heavy breathing and footsteps until they edit music into the scene. And you also have to film one scene more than 10 times, and usually one scene takes the entire day to film 2 minutes worth of film

I remember before Aladdin was released, a lot already hating on Will for being the genie. After I watched the movie, Will was one big reason why this movie is sooo good. He really add taste to Genie and the way they add some elements to the songs. It made the songs soooo much better! Just listening to it gives me a lot of vibes.
And what I like the most about this movie is Speechless. Trust me, it's the most powerful song I have ever heard.
I love this adaptation of Aladdin so much and how I wish they also did this exact adaptation to Mulan. Hopefully, future adaptation of disney princess movie will be like this: accurate to the animated movie.

I disagree. Will Smith was just being Will Smith, not transformed into a hundred different personas and voices, as befitting of a genie that's been living for thousands of years. Then again, Robin Williams is just that good. You'd have to cast Jim Carrey to nearly match his energy.
@@jeremycarl2401 My son couldn't believe that Robin Williams' genie was just one guy doing all the voices. He really was incredible. Will's genie was good, but like you said it was just him playing very close to himself. And he's a funny guy. He just doesn't have the range of energy and impersonation of Williams. I don't think Carrey does either (but Carrey can definitely match the zaniness, that's for sure). I'm not sure who does TBH.

@@kato_the_gamer But he wasn't trying to "live up" to him, he was being his own Genie. It's not a matter of being worse or better but just different. Will Smith was perfect for HIS portayal of it while also staying true to the original. I thought it would be a trash casting but I was so impressed after I watched. If you stop trying to compare original to remake, you wouldn't sound so biased and unfair. ALL these actors bring a difference than the voice actors because it's their interpretation and a reflection of the time period. Even Naomi's Jasmine is way more powerful in this remake, which is indicative of her personality and the modern times we live in. No use in comparing two different artists.

I think it's kinda cool that they're remaking the old disney movies into live action. If anything, they're practically the same exact movies so it's not like they're that bad, and I also think it's really cool to see how far special effects have come in movies, we can now do things we normally only could do with animated films but in real life.
I think the flash backs of the genie granting people wishes and it going wrong should have stayed in the film

the deleted song (Desert Moon) was sooooo beautiful. they should have kept it in the movie. Same with the specific wish scene.
When I was watching this in movie in movie theatre, I got goosebumps when this song came up. I always get goosebumps if the person is singing from the depth of their heart or the music is outstanding
