    Oh man the Mike Goldberg - Joe Rogan combination in the UFC. I really miss him when watching UFC fights since he is gone. Jon Anik is cool but just a little too monotone and robot like. Goldberg with Joe rogan was the perfect combination.

      Crupy FaceMJ I'm kind of split. The new guys can say some interesting stuff but they seem to lack in enthusiasm. The one that I really think is good is Cormier.
      I think that they might have gotten rid of Goldie since he and Rogan were so tuned in. I'm not sure that he would be a good fit with any of the other commentators.

      After the ufc got bought out they cut a bunch of "overpaid" employees. Chuck Liddell also being one of them, but basically they had to choose between either Joe and Mike. And they deff can't get rid of Joe. But it gave a lot of fighters the opportunity to have commentating jobs now.

      Anik is a good guy and very competent, however, his commentary does not feel organic and he seems like a machine, with no real passion for the fights. That's why it bothers me when UFC let Goldberg go and so many people saying Anik is the best.

      slevinlindsay - anik would be good if it were a radio program, he just states the obvious. Same with jimmy smith, just tells you the obvious, just about everyone at the ufc does that except rogan, cruz and a few other fighters that commentate from time to time.

  • @johnc8591
    @johnc8591 6 лет назад +23

    A lot of the new crop of UFC analysts and colour commentators ask themselves, "how can I bring details and insight into this broadcast?" while Goldie also asked, "how can I make this broadcast more fun and exciting?" Huge difference.
    I also think the UFC underestimated how, by having Goldie be a "simple minded" character on the broadcast, it allows a hardcore fan to feel superior (which is a pleasurable emotion) while giving a casual fan someone to be able to relate to. Especially in comparison to the UFC athletes who can be very intimidating and unrelatable as "Supermen". That's missing now.
    The UFC did Goldie dirty, and I won't forget it or forgive them for it.

    • @justanghozzst8218
      @justanghozzst8218 6 лет назад +1

      He made it so much more fun, like a spectacular event instead of a serious live sport. If you listened to the last Bellator Chael Sonnen and him did a fantastic job at making even the less skillful fights entertaining.

    The broadcasts have become more boring, but it's not the broadcasting team's fault. They're pushing too much quantity over quality. I used to watch every Pride and UFC card because they were few and far between and I knew all the fighters. Now there's a card almost every weekend and I don't even recognize most of the fighters on them, let alone care about the outcome of their fights.
