They were infinitely gifted songwriters, without a doubt. They wrote so many hit songs over the years- for others and for themselves. Yes, it was a hit for Dionne, nobody’s debating that point! However, I love to listen to them sing the songs they wrote. Same with Islands In The Stream. Great Pop music. Thanks for the request, and for your reaction, Harri.
Mo said he was totally sad after Dionne's recording session. They put so much of their hearts into this (and every other) song. For a moment he felt like they should have recorded it themselves. Thank goodness they eventually did. I am in love with their own recording. The chorus harmonies and Barry's lead are perfect.

The Bee Gees sound better than anyone ❤ I'll always choose them over others' versions because more often than not they wrote it and know how it should really sound at its best. God blessed them with a set of musical talents like no others. Bless you Barry and your family for still making music.
I lived in Florida from 1973 to1980. The fabulous Bee Gees had a recording studio in North Miami Beach. One day a friend and I were doing our daily walk and a big luxurious car came along and slowed down and stopped briefly to let us go in front of their car. All of a sudden we saw four big smiles and four handsome young men waving at us. It was the Bee Gees: Barry, Robin, Maurice, and Andy. Their recording studio was behind the little road we were walking on. No arrogance there! They stopped to let two young women pass by and continue our walk. We could see the glee on their faces as we recognized them and waved back whole-heartedly. I'll never forget that day. 🩷🩷🩷. Thank you for presenting this Harri. I never saw this version of the song. 💋💋💋
The Bee Gees are a once in a life time musical Family. Their music will last long after I'm gone. I'm so glad I can listen to them every day, and I do.
What is really amazing is that Barry had a terrible accident when he was a child and nearly died from it. Then he didn't speak for two years. God gave him back his words and he has continually shared them with the world ever since. He has two newer albums without Robin and Maurice out called "Greenfields" and "In the Now".
Surely in the top 3 best song writers ever - without the question mark - eternal icons, superstars and immortal legends and a world treasure - their songs will be played in 100 years, when 80% of the other crap is long forgotten 🔥 the music stands forever
@HarriBestReactions Thanks for continuing on this Bee Gees journey! I agree with you that The Bee Gees should really be considered top notch songwriters too. In fact, when they asked Barry what he would like to be remembered as, he said “As songwriters…That’s what we did”! ❤ Just think, Warwick said she didn’t even want to record the song but Barry talked her into it and she gave in…then she said it was the biggest album of her entire career! ❤
The Bee Gees version came many years later. Think about this. They were lumped in with all the disco groups and then there was a backlash against disco. At that point they couldn't get arrested. Most acts would just have broken up and gone off to mow lawns or whatever but they weren't having it. So they started writing for others. They had huge success. Eventually the world realized that it were WRONG and the Bee Gees were much more than those Saturday Night Fever tracks. The Bee Gees came back as strong as ever and people realized that even the Saturday Night Fever stuff wasn't the same as what they were rebelling against.. And yeah Barry must have some dark moments but he's a survivor and that's one of the qualities that made them so great.
One of my absolute favourite songs from the Bee Gees, and yes, I love Barrys voice the most, he has such a great vocal range and diversity in his voice and if he sings with this velvety touch in it I always get goosebumps!
Its so difficult for me to choose a favorite. I am a Robin fan for sure, but I also love Barry's voice, especially his more soulful sound, and I feel like it's such a treat when Mo does a lead. I think, at the end of it all, it is the variation you get with all three voices and the dozens of ways they combine them that makes them so unique as a group. Never ever get bored with the Bee Gees.
Great reaction Harri 💟 this is such a wonderful song and my Bee Gees have done their own amazing rendition of their written words💜 Such talent and unmatched song writing❣️💟 please do a reaction asap to these great guys BG's as they do a medley of beatles hits in '73 on the midnight special - it is fantastic !! A beautiful hit for Dionne Warwick in 1982, written by all 3 brothers, with Barry singing background vocals on the chorus for her. The Bee Gees released it in 2001 on "Their Greatest Hits - The Record" a blend of their heavenly harmonies proving a piano, guitars and their voices could deliver perfection once again. Barry, the 4 octave wonder , with his high pitched falsetto, combined with his brothers, as songwriters, musicians and record producers have given us some of the most beautiful songs ever. Geniuses indeed. ❤❤ Great reaction Harri. ❤ Great choice Brandon. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
If I remember correctly Dionne wasn’t crazy about this song and did not want to do it, but the Bee Gees talked her into it, and it ended up being a huge hit for her.
I love Barry’s voice best, too. There’s just something about it. And I love his unique vibrato, as well. Robin isn’t the only one with a unique vibrato. But Barry’s voice, there’s something about Barry’s voice. 🤤 🥰 ☺️
Love Barry's vocals on this, too. When I stumbled across this couple yrs ago, I had to listen on repeat! But you-know-who doesn't like his vocals on this, as she calls it his "whispery or breathy singing"!🙄
@@kthorThere’s no accounting for bad taste. I guess she prefers Robin’s screeching in Lion in Winter. Lol. Heartbreaker’s in my top 20. Mostly because it’s just a great song and superb singing. But also a little bit because it might as well be about Barry. He’s a total heartbreaker. He breaks my heart on a regular basis. Why does HE have to be a heartbreaker? When I sing this song along with Barry I’m singing about him.
@@BGWhisperer Lol, yes he's a heartbreaker, & don't think he realizes how many women's hearts he's broken! Or maybe he does?!🤷🏻♀️Lion in Winter is BAD, & would never ask anyone to listen to it, especially if I'm trying to convince them of the Bee Gees, like my sons!
@@kthor I’d like to know if he did know he was a heartbreaker, or not. I really would. Would it make a difference if he did, or not? I think somehow it’d be easier if he did know. It somehow seems less cruel, although the end part is always cruel, the part where he’s unavailable and breaks your heart, whether or not it’s knowingly. It always ends up with him being a heartbreaker. You see how it’d at least be better for him to acknowledge that he was breaking women’s hearts. Not knowing at all is just cruel. It’s like a fluffy cute cat looking up at you with its big eyes and cute, fluffy face, having no idea how they’re killing you with their cuteness, and don’t understand why walking away is ripping your heart apart. Another song that describes Barry to me IS that Roberta Flack song, Killing Me Softly With His Song. That song I also think of him when I sing along. Except it’s not just his song that kills me, but his face and his whole god-level dream guy plucked out of my head looks. He kills me softly with his face, his voice, both singing and speaking, personality, and heart, too. I want to know if he knows what he did to women. I really do. Did he know he was a ladykiller? How early did he get the inkling that he was? No one asks him that type of stuff. Someone needs to before we can’t anymore. Yes, unfortunately, I don’t think my husband and daughter will ever forget Lion in Winter, and will never give Robin a break evermore. Lol. Of course, my husband already didn’t like his voice. But now it’s been cemented forever. Lol. And my daughter was aghast.

It's been that way since we were both 17 yrs old, and I don't see it changing any time soon.
