I have just looked up this song because I used to sing it on my way to school in Hanwell, West London in the 60s. I can vividly recall walking through the Cuckoo Estate which was built to help sort out the overcrowding in the denser parts of London, and singing this song. The words just caught my imagination as did the voices. Happy, happy times when London was a joy to live in. I was blessed.

Released in 1968 and was a #1 hit on the UK charts. A turbulent time in history, Martin Luther and Bobby Keenedy were assasinated, a year later we walked on the moon, Viet Nam was blazing with the country ripe with war protests as many caskets were returning home. Richard Nixon was president and later resigned in disgrace. And then there was the music that somehow held the world together..... songs like this that I remeber so well when I was only an 11 year old. My older sister had a huge collection of 45s and I used to sneak in her room when she was not home to play them. I used to wear this 45 out! I loved the Bee Gees, especially their early stuff like this song, How Do You Mend A Broken Heart, To Love Somebody etc etc. Always enjoy your reaction Harri, TY.

Also...when they sing three part harmony, Maurice sings the high parts. Watch him for a minute...or listen to him sing "Man In The Middle". In "Nights On Broadway" Maurice sings all of the high parts, not Barry or Robin.

Robin has a wonderful vibrato and his natural voice is the highest of the Brothers. Only when singing falsetto, not in this song, does he sing higher. They didn't discover the falsetto until the 70s. They are my favorite group, you could play them every day. They tied Lennon and McCartney for number of number one songs written.

Robin doesn't sing higher than Barry in either natural voice or falsetto. According to Kennedy Center Honors site, Guinness World Records & Billboard also lists Barry alongside Paul McCartney as 2 of the most successful popular song writers of all time. Barry will be one of the 2023 honorees, which will take place on Dec 3rd.🎼
