- Hey subbies, techies and all people in-between! Today I am unboxing the CANON 5D MARK IV and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Standard Zoom Lens!!
I really hope you guys enjoy this video, its a fun first look / first impressions / unboxing video. I also tried to inject some of our humour in it!! lol! If you guys want I can do a proper testing video where I try out all the capabilities of the camera and lens.
And I just want to take another moment to say how grateful I am for Ryan and my family because without them I wouldn't have been able to get this camera OR do this unboxing for you guys!

TO EVERYONE commenting that I put my lens on wrong - I apologise that this was so cringey for you to watch! Fortunately Canon have built its equipment fool-proof enough for people like me who basically black out with excitement and forget how to put a lens on propperly! I think I was concentrating so hard to match up the little white and red dots that... well it was a bit of a clunky fit wasn't it.
ONCE AGAIN - lens and camera are fine, they have told me that they forgive me. Again - Its okay everyone! I had a human moment! I'm sure all of you have stuffed up at at some point too!

I just bought a Canon 5D mk iv too Maddie. The amount I spent makes me physically shudder but wanted it for a long time. So saved up. Be great when I go to Scotland this summer. Hope you get some awesome shots 👍 Great Video 😀

So more than a year later, how are you liking it? :) I got my 5D mark IV about 9 months ago and absolutely love it. In fact, I bought a Sony a7III a couple of months ago and while it is a GREAT camera (I use ALL EF lenses on it with the Sigma MC-11) with a killer focus system, along with zero need to do any microadjustments (this is a HUGE deal), I still find myself using the Canon 5D for most things.

I'm new to photography. Would you recommend taking lens off after every shoot when you put up your stuff, or do you always just constantly leave lens on it? Thanks.
Hi Eddie! I keep the lens on unless I am changing lenses, I have a camera bag that protects the camera and lens so I don't feel the need to take it off. The main reason I keep it on is to stop dust from getting inside the camera body and lens. But I don't think there is a wrong way to do it, its whatever works for you, I hope that helps!

that's the kit I have lol. I had bought the lens 2-3 years ago with the Mark II and I decided I need to get the most juice out of the lens so I got me the Mark IV

I know its ridiculous! I also feel like everything here in Australia is more expensive than anywhere else. ahahaha thanks I think we are funny together too :P we are always joking around!!!
there is cameras more expensive, but you should know you pay the materials and the trademark security in case of issues and this camera have such expensive materials

You guys are a v cute couple! I could share your excitement in opening the boxes for the first time; although all my 5Ds have been second hand. Good luck and you won't regret buying such a great lens for that camera. Although, you might wish it had IS for shooting video. Cheers! You will love the camera. I hope you shoot RAW and write to CF as your primary since they're typically faster than SD. (Use SD for back up).
Thanks so much!!!!! I'm so pleased you could share in the excitement :) I ended up going with the extreme pro sandisk 128gb for both! Thanks for the tip that the CF is faster! I actually didn't know that, but I did get the extreme pro's for their speed :) Oh and yes RAW all the way! RAW is amazing!

so the 5d-mk4 didn't come with the 24-105/4 kit lens as offered in the past! and you just picked a new 24-70/2.8! i own both these lenses and you can't go bad with ether,but i'm still using them on my 1d-mk4 and 7d,shortly to upgrade to 5d-mk 4 though,thanks guys.

Oh my gosh I hope you're able to get one too!! I think I'm also living my own dream lol!!! Honestly this purchase wasn't on the cards at all, my boyfriend and family helped me out so much! It also helped that my birthday is in December alongside Christmas :D Keep shooting/working and saving money, I'm sure you can get there!!

Thanks for asking, overall it went well!! I won't lie though, I did find it very nerve racking being on my own! Since I posted this video I think I have finally come to the conclusion that weddings are possibly a bit too stressful for me! I am focusing more on portraits and newborn now :)

congratssss! I have a 5D mark III and been using it since day 1! Absolutely love the camera, its been a workhorse for me. Im sure you're going to love your Mark IV.
Just like you, ive co-started a wedding photography/cinematography business, and 3 years into it now. With 12 years of personal experience. All the best for your business, now you're gonna want another one as a second! Well you do have your 70D! I actually recently got a 80D so i just use that as a secondary haha
Just one thing! I do recommend B+W Filters! (gotta trust the germans ;) They're some of the best if not, the best filters out there. Just like you, I dont care too much about the UV, it's mostly to protect the front of the lens. But the reason for the high quality glass is cuz you're using it on one of the sharpest len's made to date. Either way, any L series lens should use a high quality filter (thats just my opinion) Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of buying really sharp glass and putting a 40-60$ filter on top of it, B+W filters are pretty much the closest filters out there to making your camera think there's nothing in front of it. Cheaper filters can actually cause back focus issues, soft edges, and funny glare. Just a heads up! Definitely gotta protect that investment, but make sure you also get to use that high quality glass to its maximum potential! That being said, there's a lot of on going battles about if filters even matter. Lots of professionals don't use filters because of the issues caused by it / marketing gimmick, but the other half of professionals do! ( i have come across the miss focus issues on cheaper filters before) But when it does come down to them. B+W at the very least.

Thanks for the recommendation of B+W Filters, I had a look and they seem really good! Which one in particular would you recommend to get the most out of your images? Do you have a favourite?
My Aunty is actually from Canada lol!!!! I haven't been able to visit yet though, but I do plan to!! You must love getting to travel back and fourth and getting to practice shooting in such different environments!
