I have child sized wrists and fingers. Until recently my ring size was 4.5....are design features to look for so don't look like I'm trying my parent's ring?
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise! Could you please do a more elaborate video and feature more recommended engagement ring styles or options for short fingers? 😊
I have short fingers and I tried listening to the "elongate" advice. I tried an oval and a pear. They looked SO UGLY on me and it almost stressed me out because I was following the advice! Then the rep showed me rectangular shapes (cushion, radiant) and they were PERFECT for me. I chose a square cushion because it was my perfect stone but it would love a radiant and an Asher in the future. My advice is to try every shape and go with what you love.
Absolutely. The best thing to do is try rings on in person and choose what YOU like best! These are just loose guidelines based on simple design rules and anecdotal jeweler experience of what people gravitate to when they try on rings. Ring style is very subjective so at the end of the day, choose what shape makes you happy to look at!!😊
@@BijouLabI just want to say I appreciate you so much. You provide your expertise on what is “flattering” but aren’t immediately rude when someone wants what they want and not something flattering. Most people will absolutely just be super negative if you choose something unflattering and you don’t; I love that.
honestly its like telling someone "if you have small fingers get a huge ring so you can "balance" out the shapes" 😂😂 no! you're supposed to get something that's the shape of your finger, not the opposite, it clashes and points out whatever you lack/have excess of. this applies to clothes too. complete upside down advice.
I’m 411 and have extremely short figures my fiancé picked out a very classic vintage ring with an emerald cut. It elongates my finger and it is not too big. However ,I feel like if you went more than two carats you may want to choose a pear or oval because it may end up looking too big.
Big yes on the bigger band for long fingers. I think a lot of people think thin fingers = thin band but it can look so awkward, especially with a larger stone.
I would love a video on low profile ring designs. Mainly how to showcase the stone while keeping it secure and protected. Thank you so much for these tips! And for making the concepts so understandable! (Edit: spelling error)
I love your perspective, about us chubby-fingered gals.. “Just more room for bling.” Though, what about us chubby, long-fingered gals? I’m not overweight, though, my fingers have always gotten a bit of a natural muffin-top - even with lose fitting rings. I tend to have to wear rather chunky rings, to balance everything out - as small width bands look like they’re cutting off circulation, when they’re not. Could you do a series, on engagement rings with some serious chunk, please? Not necessarily, like, giant diamond/stone chunk (though, that would be cool, too) - however, even band size chunk, for us non-dainty women? That would be much appreciated, thank you!
Yes I love some chunky engagement rings. They’re inherently durable which is why I haven’t done a series on why you should avoid them 😂. Is there something in particular you want me to discuss about them? Or just looking for ideas..?
I have similar hands. People are surprised lol. I love color in engagement rings. Vintage style jewelry that has more ornate designs seems to be more flattering than simple bands.
@@BijouLab- I am awful at checking notifications.. This popped up, for me to watch, again.. If you happen to see this - I am, simply, looking for ideas. I love longer stones - like oval; and am not always partial to diamonds (or clear/white diamonds, at least). And I really like the bezel setting - especially, with how durable they are. I’ve seen some three stone bezel settings that are gorgeous - though, definitely want to find something that is flattering with a thicker band, also, and doesn’t sit too high.
Please show the rings more! As beautiful as you are, I really want to have a better look at the rings, ideally with different viewing profiles. Blessings to all!
I’m so glad you did I a video on this! I haven’t started looking for rings yet and have been a little overwhelmed about the idea tbh. Your explanations are so helpful!
Great tips! For people that aren't sure, this is a good video to go off of. Also, I won't be chubby forever. So on my short wide fingers that would look okay. My dream ring will fit my long fingers once they aren't chubby anymore. Even if they stayed chubby, I'd get my dream ring😂. Doesn't matter what shape.❤ Just get your favorite ring guys!
I dreamed for a round diamond bc something about me, is I always want the original, timeless option, I just gravitate to that in any situation naturally. Growing up when I would think of a diamond or diamond engagement rings, I’d think of a round diamond!! However, it looked so so ugly in my finger!!! I found a cushion cut, added a halo in gold with a pavé band and i love it so much. The only thing I wish is that I got a thicker band. I originally wanted a thicker band however the company I got my ring from only designed and sold thin bands. I feel cushion and a halo suits me best!!! I am looking for a white gold or silver ring for my upcoming anniversary because I do not like mixing metals in my jewelry and I’m thinking to get a radiant cut and the 2mm band I had originally wanted 😊 the one you actually showed in the video is an idea of what I’m looking for! My fingers are long and normal width, I wouldn’t describe them as chubby or thin. But when I’m pregnant they definitely are categorized as chubby lol.
Really small fingers, I’m 27 and ring size 4. I’ve had a couple jewelers tell me I should only have a singular small stone as rings with multiple stones would be too difficult to resize.
Nail artist here... please say something about the shape of the nails with the rings... if you use square shape for your nails the Finger seemed shorter, same fot stiletto style... the Best style for the nail is a soft almond or oval shape to make the Ring Look more perfect ❤❤❤
I have short fingers and have a round diamond. I feel like it suits my fingers the best and in fact make them look more elongated but maybe that’s just me lol. I feel like elongated would draw attention to how short my fingers are
Pretty cool! I have long, thin fingers and my husband gave me his mom's ring which happened to be a round cut 💖 No wonder I feel like it's perfect for me.
I have long “slim” fingers (they look slim until you measure them at 6.5 😂). And all cuts worked well but my fiancé absolutely loved the emerald cut on me. I do prefer more ring elongation tho so I’m getting a rounded half halo setting.
I have teeny tiny fingers. My ring size is a 3.8 and my hands are the size of an 8-year-old's. My engagement ring is an infinity sign with three small diamonds on the cross-over portion.
I'm glad I'm biased for the marquise shape although I wish I could see skinnier versions of it. I have ideas but I don't want to be a bother to a store that doesn't already have an example of said skinnier marquise shape.
I have short fingers and nooo the oval or any elongated shapes makes my fingers look shorter 😭 but a round made it look really slender and long. I think it all depends on a person to person basis. Please actually try different shapes on yourself and see for yourself.
I gave up to going to church 9 years ago and this video made me consider going back more than anything else so far. Please, women, your fingers look fine just get a ring you like
Haha don’t worry about your finger shape. It’s a video on what’s flattering. Just like videos about what clothes to wear to flatter your unique body type!
short fingers here, but mine's not chubby. Thicker bands won't do justice especially if I stack it up I cannot fold my hand. And it is so short that any rings would slide down easily hahaha
OK, so you’re an expert Cuz. Please explain to me I make jewelry. My ring is 5 carat halo with .75 in the band my parents are shortened. Looks perfect on my finger.
Then there are those of us with short (2 inch long) fingers that are chubby on a good day, portly on a bad day. I don’t even wear my wedding ring because sometimes it just looks off depending on what my fingers are doing.
Im not engaged or even looking to get married but I don't wear rings because they are so loose on my fingers. I can't wear smaller rings because my knuckles are the thickest part of my fingers. Rings always move around so much because my ring finger is especially skinny at the base compared to my index fingers which are quite even from the knuckle to the base. I suppose rings with repeating patterns all the way round would work best since they can rotate whichever way and not look stupid?
Relatable about the big knuckles and rings rotating! She mentioned "sizing beads" in another video that can stop the rings spinning. For me when my fingers swell up in the heat or otherwise I'd hate to get it stuck though!! If you don't have swell-y fingers maybe the sizing beads is something you could look at? 😊
As someone who just sold a marquis solitaire, don’t go with that. They were really in back in the early 90s and now they are not so the resale value is crap and the markup on jewelry is unbelievable. You will not get your money back on it ever. Go with pear or something more classic.
My partner has "square" fingers, and to me I think they look really strong and I admire them so much! I've got knobby knuckle fingers so my fingers look like wands out of Harry potter or something hahaha
I really do not know how to apply this advice to my own hand - my left ring finger was broken as a child and now it is very crooked and odd looking 😂 I'll probably not end up getting married so it wont be a big deal, but its interesting to think about.
Hello! Do you have any tips for more androgynous engagement rings? Both my partner & I are gender queer & while we aren’t ready for marriage yet, when the time comes I want to either give a ring they would feel their best in &/or I would feel my best in regardless of whether I’m feeling more feminine or masculine that day.
My favorite recommendation for an androgynous ring would be a band with a gemstone(s) and or intricate gold carving. The band itself can be straight or curved but I think these styles are the perfect mix of feminine and masculine style!
Ooooo yes yes more on this please!! In general there are a lot more people (even cis men) wearing engagement rings nowadays and I'd love to find out what some less feminine/mascule options are please!
I am going to disagree with some of this advice. I am a long fingered girly and round stones looked soo small on my finger. I had to size up several carats for the ratio to look right and that was not in the budget. I went with a marquise shape and was so happy with the 0.5 carat. My long fingers combined with the shape make the diamond look modest, and my fingers not crazy, but for a fraction of the price. I also went thin band to highlight the stone. Needless to say, try everything on and see what you like best.
I have long slim piano fingers and i hate them i always feel theyre too long and spidery, all my friends and family are jealous of them though but ill never understand it, they’re literally one of my insecurities
Here I am with a boyfriend of 3 months not engaged, not looking to be engaged and broke as hell with rings on my shorts that look 3 times more than what I make a year
