Captain Quasar is actually a very difficult game, and very few videos exist. There is a map, rockets and grenades by pressing the other 3D0 controller keys, so you can blow down walls and move quickly. The map to level 1 is huge, and contains two separate bases which you have to storm, which can only be found by visiting the tourist booths and writing down two halfs of a password. There are some extra lives in the desert but even if you have the lives, and memorise the level and the bases, you still have to stop the rockets from taking off by using the rockets and grenades on them. If you let x3 rockets escape, then it's game over, and they take off as soon as you discover them. It would make a great AVGN episode. I have huge respect for the game but I never beat level 1.
As corny as it sounds Mike kinda helped me embrace my geeky side as a teen still finding his identity. I never understood why he use to get sm hate back in the day.
Space Hulk is tactical game based on a board game with same name. On each mission you control a squad of terminators spawned on one or two starting points, your enemy is a tyranid genestealers(aliens) that endlessly spawns from marked entry zones. You can switch between tactical and strategy modes, in tactical mode you control 1 individual terminator like in fps, in strategy mode you can see map with current positions of squad members and enemies, and give orders for remaining terminators. Also you have "Freeze" button to stop time in game and change your orders and secondary monitor that show the views of other terminators and allow you to swap control between them. To win this game, you must place terminators in right spots. Terminators with long range weapons automatically firing at enemies that come into their way (overwatch mode), weapons have ulimited ammo, but can jam for a few second after sustained fire, leaving terminators vulnerable. Btw in the campaign, terminators who survive a mission gain experience, improving their abilities and in some missions you can customise weapons, for example you can take a heavy flamer instead of basic bolter weapon. I played it on ps1 and at the time i thought that it's a great game).
I feel like I'm back in 1995, I never had a 3DO but all this live action stuff was big on PC too. I miss the Space Quest and King's Quest games on the PC. I loved adventure games
These and the CDI streams just have to be the best of them all. You never know what absolutely buckwild random shit is just around the corner. By the time Shelley Duvall morphed into a cartoon my brain was already melted but it didn't stop me from laughing.
Mike, I'm sorry no one knows Silver Spoons, but those are just the facts of life. There's bound to be some growing pains when perfect strangers are born into another world. It's no small wonder that different strokes aren't for all in the family, but as days go by you might find your dynasty.
Mike, you should give AD&D Slayer a chance for a full-length stream. It's the first instance of procedurally generated dungeons that I'd ever seen for a videogame console. It's a fun game to see how far you can get in a run, not unlike modern roguelikes. Give it a go!
I loved this era of gaming: FMV - full motion video. Just something about it. Late elementary school/early middle school, I thought it was so cool at the time.
Road Rash is awesome on the 3DO. It still holds up very well too. Some other games I'd recommend on the 3DO: Cannon Fodder (Very much like the PC version, but the animated intro and theme music is pretty amazing. Sensible Software obviously had a blast making it!), GEX (this is the first console release for it), Wolfenstein 3D, Daedalus Encounter, Super Street Fighter II Turbo (excellent playing game, but you kind of need to get used to the limited buttons, get an Avenue/Capcom 6 button controller, or use a SNES to 3DO adapter. The 3DO is another one of those systems that's truly appreciated in its original time. It's the missing link between the Philips CD-i and the PlayStation (for me). I didn't get one until after the PSX.
*sigh* I don't see anyone else tackling it, so I will... The Shelley Duvall game is an interactive storybook, and Mike apparently never hit the button that goes to the next page. Yes, he switched to later chapters, but not pages. As far as I'm concerned that's just as well, but for anyone curious, there are, somehow, full playthrough videos on this site. Shelley and Dan are still together and still unmarried. I can't imagine that dog is still around, but stupid parrots are immortal so they probably are.
It's awesome how like 99% of early 3D games are now super hilariously outdated lol. Like you can see what they were going for, but they either had no idea how to actually do it or the technology was way too primitive to allow for it, or both. Pretty interesting.
Yeah most people seem to have some kind of theme going or something. I just play whatever games I feel like and post the video here. If there is any theme to this channel it’s “whatever. fuck it. I dont know who cares” lol
I was born at the tail end of the 80s (my sister is your age). Your singing just unlocked some latent hidden away memories of things from my childhood, lol. Also, I've played most 3DO games and Shockwave 2 is extremely underrated, a different game from the first one and MUCH better. But it's mission based, meaning you have to pay a bit of attention and read a little bit which I know you have historically had trouble doing. It's very similar to Desert Strike in that regard. There's also a lot of campy FMV cutscenes which I personally like, not sure if that's your thing. I like Sewer Shark/Shitshark for the same reason, it's easy if you know what to do and it has those campy 80's cutscenes (it was filmed in 1987.)
Mike skipped the incredible machine, which broke my heart. I’m surprised he didn’t recognize it. I’m only a couple of years younger and it was a game I was forced to play in high school as part of tech class. I ended up loving it! One of my favorites. Blowing up cats with dynamite. So good.
Come on Mike, you need a little more fadeout ending in tunes these days. There's very few in this music industry today. Keep up the good work man, you're entertaining in the raging games dept. I've been there! lol.
I remember SPACE HULK quite a little different from this version. It´s basically a tactical game where you set up your team first in a planning stage to secure a perimeter and then take control of one space marine at a time while the other guys are computercontrolled. So it is much easier to have each others back and not get overwhelmed or sneaked up from behind. Talk about Uranus ...
1203 28:43 silver spoons was my show. I love the episode where he wears neon colors and when he gets asked he shows that he still matched his top with his socks.
Glad to see a look into the 3DO library. A friend of mine actually had this system but I only ever saw a handful of titles. Road Rash was the only game I remember enjoying. I thought the FMV stuff was so cool at the time, now I can't stand cutscenes in most games.
2:41:37 that laugh to the scream of existential insanity is GREAT... you have brave through some the worst, and this is some of the best. Glad to see your still here with us, thanks for all trials and tribulations as we laugh with you. The best,
I'd really dig seeing you go through Space Hulk and other Warhammer 40k content in general. I think the whole franchise is horribly fascinating at the very least, and perfectly ripe for mockery.
Top notch stream Mike. a lot of these games you played were reviewed by James in his 3DO review, we saw a lot of interesting and awkward things in this one, that Shelley Duval bird game was honestly one of the creepiest things i've seen in my entire life.
The Master of Variety. Seriously. Like vinny does some of this but its emulated. And your Halflife 2 playthrough is my second behind ross scotts Freemans Mind series. Its awesome.
Man, one of my roommates in university bought this when it came out, plus like 6 games. 💰 Gex and Return Fire were ok. The rest sucked. I played my SNES.
Haha im watching this and im late 40s. I still talk about My Two Dads and the Hogan Family and get blank stares. Mr Belvedere theme song was the best though.
Hi mike! Some lines about space hulk. Bare in mind that i mostly played the boardgame and the amiga version. You can set your different terminators to overwatch so they automatically shoot at everything they can see. You basicaly try to block the entries to the corridor you want to move through with overwatch and then use one terminator to advance through that corridor. You then put him in overwatch and then follow up with one of the other terminators. The weapons can jam so you have to unjam them. This mechanic is there to balance overwatch. Try to have your captain at the front, most of the time, cause he also has a melee weapon to stand a chance when the enemys (called tyranids, btw) get up close. Its a tactical/strategic rpg, more or less. You have been warned! I hope i could bring some light into the darkness of this great classic. Talking of classics: great singing performance! Greetings from germany, Stay safe! Nico
Man, 3DO has some psychedelic games. They look like “LSD” (PS1) spin offs. PO’ed and Ciberdillo (and basically most of the library)are probably amazing if you play ‘em under the influence of drugs (not that anyone should do drugs…remember “Winners don’t do drugs”)
Space Hulk can be a very fun game and it's definitely possible to succeed in it, but it's not a casual pick up and play at all in my opinion. You wanna do the tutorials and you'll spend a lot of time on the map moving your Terminators as well as fighting in game. You want to set up choke points with your squad so you can't be flanked and cornered. You'll often find yourself having squad members hold down a corridor or two while everyone else moves forward to complete the objective. I had a lot of fun with it on PS1 as a kid
As someone on Reddit put it - "The conception, execution and failure of the 3DO is such an interesting story. Those live action games are an interesting form of terrible."
the King's tune & Three's Company jam make this by themselves... saw some vod where Lucille Ball presents Three's Company highlights - priceless. agree with the strong finish, but am still waiting for the Dream Phone physical copy before i take your musical recos seriously.
Space Hulk is in the Warhammer universe. It’s a strategy tactical fps and the mode you were playing it on was survive for the duration of the time limit.
I can’t even imagine how disappointing it would have been to pay $700 for the console and another $60 for a game, and this is what you got. I remember seeing commercials for the 3DO and begging my parents to get it. Thank God they had sense enough to say no.
The Don Knots guy looked like a mix between Knots and Colin Mockery. Also I beat Sewer Shark as a kid, it was my only Sega CD game for awhile till I got Sonic CD and Lunar The Silver Star. I liked it even though it got a lot of hate.

Forget the 3DO, the REAL highlight here is Mike's karaoke segments! Such a showman!
Here you have a guy who knows how to be fun, how to have fun. I'm So thankful, that I'm not alone and there is Mike there for me. Thank you very much.
As corny as it sounds Mike kinda helped me embrace my geeky side as a teen still finding his identity. I never understood why he use to get sm hate back in the day.
This wording of this comment still makes me giggle.
Really enjoying these 3DO Streams! Interesting and hilarious!
Me 2 so nostalgic
Watching Mike play Space Hulk while not knowing what Warhammer 40K is was amazing.
The rant about the 90s comic art was the chef's kiss.
Agreed. He so quickly and clearly understood everything Games Workshop is about! 😆
EA should have never stopped making Road Rash. Such a great game.
skitchin was a great game too
I agree. Road Redemption on steam is a good love-letter to the series but it's still not Road Rash
Indeed. The layer road rash games on playstation didn't really have the same appeal though
Nah, leave it like that, if they discover people like it, they'll monetize the heck out of it with pay 2 win mumbo jumbo.
We need more road rash and twisted metal games
28:45 This is obviously the part everybody should be looking for! 🤣
34:39 More!
56:29 We've all been there, Mike.
Thanks time post guy!
Probably the best ending to any stream ever.
The makeup gnome beard had me on the floor

Look into ScummVM emulation. You can play all the old PC games you want through it. I beat one of the Space Quest games using it.
44:33 "Nice, I own a Panasonic 3DO console. What other games are there."🤣
Thanks Don Knotts for all your hard work.
Mike should begin his streams singing theme songs from the 80s. His Silver Spoons rendition is on a whole new level of EPIC.
massively agree!😉
The outro when he put the make up on at the end of stream had me dying 😅 with the gnomes
Hello dolly was my favorite
When you busted out the microphone to sing the silver spoons theme song I lost it.
These and the CDI streams just have to be the best of them all. You never know what absolutely buckwild random shit is just around the corner. By the time Shelley Duvall morphed into a cartoon my brain was already melted but it didn't stop me from laughing.
you're actually quite a good singer Mike... damn! easy come, easy go... epic asf, and so much fun!
The commentary for POed is golden. If you’re ever having a bad day, just watch that.
Mike, I'm sorry no one knows Silver Spoons, but those are just the facts of life. There's bound to be some growing pains when perfect strangers are born into another world. It's no small wonder that different strokes aren't for all in the family, but as days go by you might find your dynasty.
ANGELAAAA
I really need to watch more of these. Your comedy has always been right up my alley and you're completely in your element in these. 😎
"Chibi Usa is the Mike Matei of Sailor Moon."
This killed me, man. I am now in dead.
I remember 3DO was $700 when it first cameout ,back in the day.
Dude it's so much fun watching these streams I'll get home from work and watch them while I'm making dinner
My parents randomly bought me a 3DO when I was a kid. I had a lot of fun with it especially Return Fire.
the load was indeed huge, big guy. cheers!
Mike, you should give AD&D Slayer a chance for a full-length stream. It's the first instance of procedurally generated dungeons that I'd ever seen for a videogame console. It's a fun game to see how far you can get in a run, not unlike modern roguelikes. Give it a go!
Since Mike started his Twitch journey he’s slowly descending into madness……and I’m all about it.
God bless u my friend
I can’t believe he didn’t play Doom! The 3DO port is the best!😂
Thanks for these awesome fun streams Mike, you are one of a kind streamer and that is really much appreciated!
I loved this era of gaming: FMV - full motion video. Just something about it. Late elementary school/early middle school, I thought it was so cool at the time.

The 3DO had like 5 good games.

I LOVE the 3do streams and mikes face
The thumbnail is breathtaking
Love your content Mike, but wow, I'm feeling old after understanding all those 80s references 😅
Now that I have a 3D0, I can play PC quality Shovelware in the comfort of my living room!
29:20 If cable guy got a reboot they should design the character around you cause it fits too perfectly.
34:41
This is one of the greatest moments of the internet
Mike, your channel really does have the best gameplay. No bullshit, no gimmicks, just the game, and a guy we all like having fun playing it. 👍
Yeah most people seem to have some kind of theme going or something. I just play whatever games I feel like and post the video here. If there is any theme to this channel it’s “whatever. fuck it. I dont know who cares” lol
Love the 3do stream and all the quality content you bring us Mike.
What a crazy set of games
The songs at 3:24:13 are catchy and is now stuck in memory
I was born at the tail end of the 80s (my sister is your age). Your singing just unlocked some latent hidden away memories of things from my childhood, lol.

The dead armadillo at 34:12 is a reference to a famous classical painting "The Death of Marat."
man for that price of the 3D0 they sure had some great games!
This is my favorite stream of yours Mike. I love the ending with Shelly, and the songs you play and sing.
Holy Christ Captain Quasar makes me motion sick
Mike skipped the incredible machine, which broke my heart. I’m surprised he didn’t recognize it. I’m only a couple of years younger and it was a game I was forced to play in high school as part of tech class. I ended up loving it! One of my favorites. Blowing up cats with dynamite. So good.
I love getting high and watch Mike play retro games.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing Mike!
Come on Mike, you need a little more fadeout ending in tunes these days. There's very few in this music industry today. Keep up the good work man, you're entertaining in the raging games dept. I've been there! lol.
this inspired me to get a 3DO with an ODE
I was not expecting, nor ready for how that ended... Did not Disappoint! 😎
I have to admit, a revisit to finish half these games would be much appreciated!
I remember SPACE HULK quite a little different from this version. It´s basically a tactical game where you set up your team first in a planning stage to secure a perimeter and then take control of one space marine at a time while the other guys are computercontrolled. Really enjoyed your karaoke, Mike🎵🎶😎👌

Your streams when you wear the magic hat and sing are tops
Total Eclipse was an awesome 3do game, as I recall
I always appreciate how you show us the very best and the very worst in the gaming world and are not afraid to laugh at the sillier gaming offerings.
I prefer to look at everything. Good bad and sometimes mediocre (like that new tmnt roguelike game)
2:41:37 that laugh to the scream of existential insanity is GREAT... you have brave through some the worst, and this is some of the best. Glad to see your still here with us, thanks for all trials and tribulations as we laugh with you. The best,
Really enjoying these 3do videos it’s such a strange system.
41:00 😂 I was sitting here waiting for Mike to notice this scene 😂😂😂
“Easy come, easy go!!”
This stream is Mike's magnum O piss
Anybody notice that Christopher Lambert was a voice actor for Robinsons requiem lol
lmao my boy look like he about to go ballistic
I'd really dig seeing you go through Space Hulk and other Warhammer 40k content in general. I think the whole franchise is horribly fascinating at the very least, and perfectly ripe for mockery.
Seal of the pharaoh is incredible!
I pretty much always use real consoles. If I dont, I say. Like sometimes have have used mame and whatnot but typically its a real system.
Why does the 3D0 have that horrible tinnitus noise? Is that from the capture device or did those 3D0 consoles actually try to deafen you?
Ambitious but... ahhh lol. Garbage, I couldn't imagine coming home excited to play this like I was for SimCity on SNES.
Man, one of my roommates in university bought this when it came out, plus like 6 games. 💰 Gex and Return Fire were ok. The rest sucked.
I played my SNES.
The horde is really fun.and killing time is the first person shooter you want to play on 3d0.
Haha im watching this and im late 40s. I still talk about My Two Dads and the Hogan Family and get blank stares. Mr Belvedere theme song was the best though.
Why is the quality 240?
Hi mike! Some lines about space hulk. Bare in mind that i mostly played the boardgame and the amiga version.

great singing performance!

I had a lot of fun with it on PS1 as a kid
Wow imagine paying $700 for a 3DO…..in 1993!
You could buy a decent used car for that price!😂
I've had the entire 3DO collection on my pc and emulation stations for ages...and I have never even opened up the emulator. I might check a few out.
As someone on Reddit put it - "The conception, execution and failure of the 3DO is such an interesting story. Those live action games are an interesting form of terrible."
Space Hulk is known for being one of the hardest games ever made. I couldn't get through the demo.
the King's tune & Three's Company jam make this by themselves... saw some vod where Lucille Ball presents Three's Company highlights - priceless. agree with the strong finish, but am still waiting for the Dream Phone physical copy before i take your musical recos seriously.
29 min mark had me 💀I’m 44 Mike I understand 😂🙌🏻
How does armless mike play video games?
Mike did more coke than usual right before this stream lol
Awesome to see SPACE HULK on here, I loved that game, so intense and the closest we got a good ALIEN game.
Mike needs to experience Duelin’ Firemen on the 3DO.
Space Hulk is in the Warhammer universe. It’s a strategy tactical fps and the mode you were playing it on was survive for the duration of the time limit.
1204 2:19:29 threes company theme over the Lance Boyle Schtick is the perfect.
This is truly one of the worst consoles ever, no hyperbole. Respect to Mike for trying his best to make it entertaining.
I can’t even imagine how disappointing it would have been to pay $700 for the console and another $60 for a game, and this is what you got. I remember seeing commercials for the 3DO and begging my parents to get it. Thank God they had sense enough to say no.
I'm really enjoying my 3do now that I got one
The Don Knots guy looked like a mix between Knots and Colin Mockery. Also I beat Sewer Shark as a kid, it was my only Sega CD game for awhile till I got Sonic CD and Lunar The Silver Star. I liked it even though it got a lot of hate.
Mike is fucking hilarious.
I'm playing the newer Space Hulk on steam while Mike rages at the old one...which I had in the 90s its so hard.
