      I did apartment maintenance for 20+ years. You should have seen the primitive measures. We had to take to keep a heat pump system getting cold during the summer and heating in the winter. We actually had a manager one time that thought we could use a handheld tiny, portable Bernz- O-Matic torch to braze refrigerant lines. I’ve never had Parts always robbing from vacant units. Absolutely insane.

    On ACs, it depends where you live. In my area, fan motors' failure and dirty coils are the major repairs. Also, put line locks on your gauge set, vacuum, and pre-charge your hoses so you don't release refrigerant. The information on the ceiling fan light is great. Use Wagos instead of wire nuts, easier 😂.

    What's going on skid! How many of the leaky evap coils have you & J-Booty crossed off the list so far? Sometimes the shit just gets old. Especially when you have other things to get done & have your day planned out & here comes another leaky coil or compressor issue. I'd love to have one summer where I don't have major AC repair to do. Wishful thinking lol. But it's definitely job security. Good to see a new video from you & Happy Father's Day! Hope you're not on call this week. 👍

    We had one like that one time no water in the tank no flushing. But I did not respond to the call. It was a tech about six hours later a leasing agent calls me tells me the story about the tech responding still no water in the toilet and a call head came in from a neighbor below. There was approximately 8200 gallons of water in the building below, LOL, the line had snap completely in half above the ceiling. You can physically tell by the indication that the fitting when glued together, I guess it tried to push itself apart, but there was only about an eighth of an inch of the waterline glued into the coupling, where it was just barely hanging on and had been that way for many years, but one day it decided to cut loose.

    Hey Skid, good videos. I have been watching you for a while now. Quick question, when your were charging and the Subcool was that low how long did you wait before the Subcool got to where it needed to be again bc you were at 1.0 of subcool? Did you keep letting more refrigerant in?

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, I throttled it on and off for about 10 minutes. It eventually gets to the correct subcool. I don't leave it open or it'll choke the system. I open for 5 seconds and then close and wait 30 seconds. Then, open again and then close.

    Hey lex hope all is well. Quick question, do you have a device, i forget what its called, but you normally install it on the blue gauge if youre gonna charge system via liquid. Did you have that device on your gauge? I was told to not charge system via liquid on low side. Thanks for sharing

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  11 месяцев назад

      You have to charge 410a with liquid through the blue hose. You don't need anything special to do it. I just open the blue hose and charge. Other refrigerants you may have to charge with gas. It depends on the refrigerant.

    • @LexVance

      That pressure seems a little low and superheat is high. Try adding refrigerant to get the low side pressure up and superheat down to around 12.

    I question why you're looking for a leak at all. As you said, you're not an HVAC guy, so you're not gonna fix it anyway. . What if there i a slow leak on the coil? You're not gonna replace it anyway. Your point about the porcupine look was well taken.

    • @LexVance
