    Love the videos skid. I'm coming up on my 3rd year of apartment maintenance work with no previous experience. Started as a porter now I'm assistant. I owe my competence to peer teaching and videos like these. Thanks for the content bud.

    Thank you for the video. We have a basic Frigidaire refrigerator. The basement flooded. The compressor won’t come on. The relay and capacitor are good. The fans run. Is there a reset button? Do you think the compressor is bad? Thank you for your time

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  7 месяцев назад

      Compressor is bad. You can try unplugging it to see if can cool and start back up. If it doesn't, it's bad.

  • @onefixitman
    @onefixitman 4 месяца назад

    The compressor is a capacitor start induction run motor. This means it is using the capacitor at the start. There is an internal centrifugal switch that shuts off the start capacitor after it is at least 75% speed. If the voltage and the current are at the same phase angle the motor will not turn. The capacitor shifts the phase angle so the current and voltage are 90 degrees out of phase on the start winding and the rotor will rotate and lock on to the frequency of the Armature. Great job on the brazing and repair. ELI the ICE man. ICE I means current C means capacitance E means voltage I comes before E so Current leads voltage in a capacitive circuit. Good Day.

    Lex wanted to stop by and say thanks for the vids that helped me over the years. Although I'm not doing Apartment maintenance anymore, the skills elevated me to become a maintenance director at a healthcare facility. I still go back and reference videos when something major goes down. And it's good to see you still helping the up and coming Tech's. Keep doing your thing man.

    Great videos! Quick question, on the supply air temp - does that change based return air or outside temp? I saw it was really cold coming out in the low 30’s.

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  7 месяцев назад +1

      Return air would affect it. Not sure about outside air. If it was 90 degrees in the apartment, the air coming out of vents would be warmer. And the temp gun is just better than my hand. I don't use it for serious measurements.Thank you so much for watching!

    Next time use the used nitro to blow out condenser coil so when you add charge pressures are more accurate.( instead of waiting for coil to dry after washing it to get accurate readings)

    Awesome videos bro. When you did the continuity test on the compressor is that the same as if you did an ohm reading bw C-S-R?
    Also if you're txv is bad so you ever have 0 superheat or is it just extremely high number?

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  7 месяцев назад

      No, ohm is a separate setting. My meter was set to continuity. With a bad txv you'll usually see high super and high subcool numbers. Thank you so much for watching!

    I've found with these it's almost always the large burner that goes out because it the most common burner used and if your not sure what burner switch use if you got a bunch in a box in the shop you can look at the wattage on the switch. Keep up the awesome work Lex 👍🏽😎💪🏽💯💯💯💯

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  7 месяцев назад

      Yep silfos solder. I only use flux for plumbing soldering on copper. I don't want flux getting into the HVAC system and mixing with refrigerant. My friendship bracelets are lucky. 😆 Thank you so much for watching!

  • @onefixitman
    @onefixitman 4 месяца назад

    For the stove switch when the contact points on those switches or any contact surface gets greater than 50% pitted the resistance will go up across the contact and cause the current flow to go up. Then the arc causes more pitting and it is done. On old contactors for 3 phase motors they used to sell the contacts as they were a servicable item. Great work.
