Oh man, I’ve been listening to Ray’s recent solo album, “What The Water Wants” every f’n day, love it!! Been listening to “Disconnected”, “Theories Of Flight” too.
Fates Warning is one of the most criminally under rated bands of modern times! The vocals, the drumming, the guitar work is absolutely magnificent! I've listened to them for decades and turned many a friend on to them.
The only prog band other than Rush to not lose track of the song in technical displays. Easily, easily the best and most sophisticated of the prog metal bands from the 80s on.
I am a huge fan of Dream Theater and Love the instrumentals and vocals. However, Alders vocals are so much more natural and effortless. No Exit, Perfect Symmetry, Parallels, and Inside Out are vocal masterpieces. I never get tired of it. Ray is incredible.
Fates has been one of my all time favorite bands since I first heard them in the 80s! And great people too...a few years back I bought the "meet the band" passes when they were opening for Queensryche. We showed up on time, but were told by the idiot security guard that the meet the band wasn't for another hour...so we came back an hour later and were told that we missed it! I asked to speak to the manager, who went and talked to the band, and they let me and my son (8 years old at the time) come in and be the only audience for their sound check. WOW! They played "At Fates Hands", which I had never heard them do live. After the sound check they all came to say hello, and Ray hung out with us for a bit even though he was struggling with a bad cold. Amazing musicians; even better people! :-)
@@2Times22 I respect Arch, and enjoy his performances on the Arch/Matheos records, but I'll take Alder any day of the week. Much more varied and dynamic imo. I know Arch fans are pretty staunch, so I'm not here to convince anyone. Just my personal preference
I use to run the door at a night club in Hartford and on Wednesday night we had metal bands play- best night of the week in my opinion. Frank stopped by quiet frequently. One of the friendliest and down to earth guys I got to know and certainly one of the best guitarist I know to this day.
FATES WARNING has been rocking my brain cells since the late '80s. Thanks for keeping me alive FATES WARNING!!! I don't think I could have made it without you. 🤘🤘🤘
My first fates album. Just the best band ever, and my favorite vocalist ever. My wife and met him after a show about 12 yrs., I wasn't even going to go, it was a four hr. drive, I had to work the next day ended up going, had a great time, lost the job, but it was worth it.
Terry Brown who produced quite a few Rush albums, produced a few Fates albums including this one. My wife and I went to see them last sunday. Just awesome. Great show.
Terry Brown also produced Voivod's 'Angel Rat'. Imagine Rush's 'Natural Science' only busier and a little heavier. The Prow and Freedoom are my favorites on that one. Worth a few minutes of your time to listen. They put extra effort into the lyrics on that album. It shows.
Awesome !. Truly Amazing Song, and Obviously One of the Most Wonderful at the Whole Heavy Metal Music Ever. What if Have Passed So Many Years Ago, i Can't Stop Listening it. 🎸🎼🎸🥃😎👍
As soon as I first heard this song on Parallels, it immediately grabbed my attention with it's amazing hooks and was absolutely blown away in general. What a masterpiece.
Man what a great album this was. What really got me was how catchy the writing was-there's hooks throughout that'll stick in your head for years! Sweet 👂candy!!!

Whenever I listen to this song (for some reason it's not often), I have to hear it couple of times on repeat. I could never get tired of it. Pure perfection.
I actually remember hearing this song on the damn radio! I have been a fan of FW since the late 90's-i remember when i bought this album and said "hey i remember this song" -the perfect prog metal masterpiece!
One of my many favorite metal bands. Too bad people don't seem to recognize their talents. I sure do. They get me rocking. I appreciate them anyway. 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Fates Warning is amazingly talented. I've loved this band since Perfect Symmetry. I was blessed to have been able to see them in June. Quite frankly, I don't know how Ray maintains his awesome voice. I wasn't aware, until recently that he fronts 3 bands. I grabbed my usual spot, front row center and Ray was gracious enough to come and meet my Son and his girlfriend. Bobby was drumming on the Theories of flight tour and was already hanging with my Son. Awesome band! I always try to support the band's that I really love by buying their CD'S and attending their concert's. FATES FOREVER!
Yeah. Its really a great song Ray Alder sings with such emotion, and so does Geoff Tate on Breaking The Silence. The entire Parallels album is just a masterpiece.
Anyone else think that the riffs in this song kinda resemble Queensryche's "Breaking The Silence"? Both great songs, and I think there is a bit of resemblance.....
Saw them at a dive bar way back in 96 or 97. Brought about five big joints of some really good pot. After the show we went on their bus and smoked for hours while talking the beauty that is metal, one of the highlights of my life 🤘🤘🤘
Man, I used to sing with this band, they were the heroes of the day (like, play it and sing on a crappy mic over it with them) These guys are STILL in the top 5 for such clean real vocals, it's totally believable. Tell your friends what a man sounds like. Rock on. *goes back to bass*
Who's here in 2024 listening to this incredible track?
Oh man, I’ve been listening to Ray’s recent solo album, “What The Water Wants” every f’n day, love it!! Been listening to “Disconnected”, “Theories Of Flight” too.
Nope. No one is listening to this.
@@VH-OU812 check out Ray Alder/Mark Zonder : A-Z :-)
I am!!! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
A BELLOOOOOO LOL
The tone of that guitar 🎸 solo fuckin slays 🔥
Frank Aresti was using an ADA MP-1 Preamp into a Mesa 290 Power Amp... custom Jackson Archtop Soloist with Duncan Custom.

Я тоже их фанат , а эта песня , я пррсто "рыдаю и плачу" , временами её слушаю , и не могу оторваться , раз по 10 по кругу пускаю , шедевр я считаю!!
Ты из какой страны)?
This album is straight gold. Always loved their stuff, but Parallels was just a whole other level of melody and great songwriting.
Absolutely!
One of the best and underrated bands. Hands down. Amazing
The only prog band other than Rush to not lose track of the song in technical displays. Easily, easily the best and most sophisticated of the prog metal bands from the 80s on.
Voivod. The only prog metal band that actually heard King Crimson and understood them.
Vanden Plas are also very sophisticated, though not very technical
Along with Crimson Glory!
All great bands but everyone here is forgetting threshold.
I'd add Theocracy, Vanden Plas and Images of Eden to that list, but otherwise, I agree!
How come these guys didnt blow it open, damn they were awesome!!! Excellent musicians........
nothing is popular. and RIP
Ray Alder is still today one of the best voices the metal scene ever seen! And Zonder...no one even close!
So fucking true brother!
Yessir
This is The kind of music that never gets old. Art in its purest form!
I am a huge fan of Dream Theater and Love the instrumentals and vocals. However, Alders vocals are so much more natural and effortless. No Exit, Perfect Symmetry, Parallels, and Inside Out are vocal masterpieces. I never get tired of it. Ray is incredible.
Dream Theater sucks not every album but they sound unnatural to my ears like machines!
Ray is way easier to listen to
@@TrevyTrev-andTheFunkyPets Definitely, funny thing James Labrie sang back-up on this album
@@lentzman72 wow!
Frank is a beast on this song. That inverted tapping bit in the solo is eargasm.
That's why he's my favorite FW lead axeman, and those ESP and Jackson superstrats did fit him!!! ❤😊
Been a fan for decades, they never disappoint. And my opinion is just my point of view ;)
never forget december 1994, fates warning and DT together, fantastic concert, the Best in my life!!!!!!!
been on that tour tour too in my home town - awesome gig!
Wow you were there too Rodrigo? Saw Fates open up for DT, damn it feels such a long time ago.😄
Fates , DT and Queensryche in ATL!
I actually got to see DT, Queesrhyche, Fates Warning in Sacramento! Forgot the year, 1999 ish! Amazing🤘
Yep, saw them in Phoenix Dec. '94 👍
"Where I stand is not so far from you. A different opinion is just another point of view" 3:00
They've always had fantastic, deep lyrics
Such an underrated group of talented musicians. They deserved more recognition

One of the best vocalist in metal history
Lou Manfredi Both singers of Fates Warning.
I would say that about the drummer..As far as the vocals..He is nice, but John Arch is a legend..!!!
Yup...
@@2Times22 I respect Arch, and enjoy his performances on the Arch/Matheos records, but I'll take Alder any day of the week. Much more varied and dynamic imo. I know Arch fans are pretty staunch, so I'm not here to convince anyone. Just my personal preference
He's really good!
21 years and I still love this song.
Dafuq, how this band doesnt get the recognition they deserve?
because they were good but most weren't this good
The same way dumbshit people vote for asshole politicians.
It's a cult-band and sometimes it's better like that.
Never too late, my Man!
Dream Theater overshadowed them, unfortunately.

Fates Warning ruled my world in the 80s....with Queensryche & Savatage.
This is so fresh to hear. I'm not a teenager anymore so I'm not incessantly analysing the music as I listen to it - I'm just enjoying it!
To me , one of the best songs on of the best albums of all times. Happy 32nd Anniversary Parallels. 🤘🏻❤🤘🏻
Still, Mark has the best Point of View in the drumming! /,,/

How our senses distort things we see
We can't accept our differences
But we can always disagree

Fates forever......
Thanks to a Facebook friend of mine's influence I've gone back & rediscovered Fates' music and now I'm so glad I did!🤘
Director: “ How much wind and fog machine do you want?”
Band: “yes”
I so miss that early '90's prog-metal sound........
Me too. Shadow Gallery, Queensrÿche and Savatage released really good music back then.
As well!
I love that maiden-rush vibe of the 90’s prog metal, nowadays prog metal it’s just downtuned guitars doing palm mutes 😅
I love this song. Fates has so many great songs, but this is definitely one of the best! FATES FOREVER!
I turned my uncle on to this a few years ago...
He was blown away that he had never heard of them.
Amazing band and that voice is so fantastic!!
I remember Jim Matheos said in an interview that he loves Wishbone Ash. These twin guitars leave no doubt, fantastic!
Whenever I listen to this song (for some reason it's not often), I have to hear it couple of times on repeat. I could never get tired of it. Pure perfection.
Favorite band since I first ever came across them. Amazing song and artist.
Saw this on MTV back in the 90s and it was a instant like, been fan since

T😊hank you, Jim.
Parallels and Inside out are the best written and musicianship!!!!!
Jim, mastered these two albums/C.D's!!!!! I listen to them constantly!!!!!!!
Absolutely brilliant
That voice... So inderated. Just givez me chills.
And he's always used it well, despite his diminished range nowadays he still sounds as good as ever. Can't wait for the new album
Man I loved them then, love them still...
Love Fates Warning, !!!!!

Fates Warning KICKS ASS!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!
its been a long time. I played the hell out of this cassette ...later cd.
