    Glad you.’re back. Hope you haven’t forgotten to do a vid on the 2017-2019 L5P exhaust brake for us retired 5th wheel rv folks. So, I ve read and watched a lot about the Exhaust Brake. But I thought you would have this down pat. Late December we’ ll be headed to Florida so we have to go Up and over Mt. Eagle. So could you take it right from the bottom headed South up the hill. 2019 Denali, dually, 8’ bed, pulling about 12,000 lbs. so, pulling up the mountain i m in (?)

    • @CFarmer
      @CFarmer  Год назад

      Thank you! Your truck will do an excellent job over Mt. Eagle with 12k. Truck speed limit is variable coming off Mt. Eagle. I usually run 45mph off going south with engine brake and tow haul on with shifter in manual (I'm thinking 4th gear. It's been a while) RPM between 2000 and 2500 and mine holds back great. Unless someone cuts me off, i can go all the way off without touching breaks. The reason i run in manual is to keep it from downshifting again and running rpm into the 3k range. It's probably fine but i don't like it. If you set cruise at speed you're comfortable with the truck will do all the work really smoothly. There are some ppl that say not to but it works for me. I hope you have a great trip!

      About half way through this video i come off Mt Eagle and talk about the engine brake. Also my email is cfarmeronyt@gmail.com if i can be any help

      I changed the trailer brake controller over the spare tire. After i checked with autel and the trailer brake controller code was gone but i was getting abs light and had a code for front right wheel speed sensor. I'm thinking wheel speed sensor was causing the check trailer wiring too. It wouldn't set a code in computer but i did see it come up once on dash with abs and stabilitrak before i changed wheel speed sensor. It's been good since

    Charles, I respect your knowledge of the L5P. I need to update my '01 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L that I use to pull my 8k pound Travel Trailer. I only pull 3 or 4 times a year but it is up over 11,000 feet elevation in the Colorado mountains. I feel I need a turbo to overcome the thin air. I am considering an L5P or a 3.5L Ecoboost. Any advice would be appreciated.

    • @FloridaTwoWheelAdventures
      @FloridaTwoWheelAdventures Год назад

      There’s a bunch of good talk about the 3.0L baby Duramax in the 1500 Silverado trucks. They seem to get great fuel mileage. Also the small block turbo gasser in the 1500 gets a ton of hype. If you’re only pulling 8k, even in the mountains, either of those would be great. The 6.6 Duramax would likely be overkill but it would pull your rig without breaking a sweat!

    You get back to your program no time . Just when someone bothers you while your setting up recheck. This is when stuff gets forgotten. Can’t say I have ever done a motor swap that way. But then again never done one with a drive by wire also. Rates suck right now… kicked off my curtain van and hauling my old refer and ready to park it all. Wish you the best brother and KNOW, unfortunately your business status. Just remember your history everything works out. That keeps me going at these kind of times. Do RV transporters ever use weight distribution hitches or is that too much work for the amount of trailers you pull? I tried not to use weight distribution for my new bumper pull but even with my dually I was getting way too much porpoising and sway so I bought the weigh safe true tow and what a difference it makes

    Hey Charles. The RV transport videos were by far the best part of your channel. I'm looking forward to more road trips with you. With this new engine you might want to carry a bunch of spare injector connectors with you. Good to to have you back buddy.

    You really need to have a contest to see if you can come up with a name for the truck.

    Oh dam I can’t believe you use a piece of crap dirty max for a transportation business. It must leave you stranded a lot.
