I got my start years ago with a smaller carrier. We only did deliveries to 3 dealers that were all owned by one company. It's definitely the best way to go for what you're looking to do. Wish you the best of luck!
@@motozaye I ended up buying the newer stock truck. This one I just plan to tune and delete for better performance and mpg. I've been watching your channel part of my motivation to get started! Thanks
I've been doing this 2 1/2 years. I live in Texas so it makes sense for me to do loads to Texas or to California. I've often thought that if you lived close to Elkhart you can make many day trips and make a good living doing this
As a diesel operator you can get a EFS card from Open Road. Not hugh discounts but definitely will save you some cash. Also the reserve fuel tank should be a priority. I am sure you know but some states will kill you on fuel prices. Best of Luck!
@@MarkSBaker I'm not traveling into Wisconsin for the most part which is usually cheaper than Illinois on fuel but I'll definitely be adding an extra tank. The new truck at least has 48 gallon tank which has helped!
Those "little" scratches can come back and bite you big time! Mark everything on the BOL, even if you think it is insignificant. It may be a small thing to you, but dealers are notorious for blowing things like this out of proportion! The love to claim driver damage on the smallest of things!
@@ibfrosty08 you need unladen insurance and when hooked to a trailer you are under the insurance of the company you lease on. If you are doing it yourself you'll need commercial insurance and DOT numbers
I would love to get on with a company like you have, I could pick up on friday nights and deliver on mondays. Let me know if your guy needs someone like that.

@@CrossbuckRVTransport thanks so far it's been working out great!
As a guy who started with a lifted truck with short bed and big wheels, I just removed the lift and went to stock wheels💪🏽

It's only been 2 weeks but I easily think $3,000 a week is doable working 5 days and being home each night!

Yes I definitely plan to document everything!
I am also transporter. I could be wrong, but you need to put some kind of locking device on your tongue latch. Good luck and safe travels.

For the company I'm leased on with you need to commit to at least 3 loads a week.
Look on line for a used fuel cell cause you can get it a lot cheaper than Dan
