From a pilot who flys from 3 days to three weeks straight:
I bring one set of work underwear, socks, undershirt, work shirt and work pants. Each night I wash my undergarments in the hotel room sink with the bar soap. Total time from washing, rinsing, rolling in hotel room towels and hanging to dry: 6 to 7 minutes.
I wash and scrub my work shirt each 1-3 days (using a small brush that I got on Amazon)...after rolling it in a towel, iron it!). Oil on my shirt? The bar soap and scrub brush (or toothbrush in a pinch) get it clean. Use dawn blue detergent for the worst stains.
I rinse my pants in the shower weekly.
Having only one uniform for several weeks has worked flawlessly for five years of work. Why carry around a week's worth of dirty laundry? :)
That’s interesting.
What you shared was very helpful. I like the idea of cubes. Thank you.
Congrats on the new job at NetJets!
Thanks!
Hahaha😅!! You made me laugh when you said; maybe it is not so dirty in a whisper!!😅😅 The commercial side in our industry is sometimes dirty!!😅
Well, congratulations again with going over to the corporate business jet side!!! Beautiful jets there in Netjets!!😊😊 And your right, I think all of us in the Aviation Industry who travel have to do try it again this way or that way soo many times to get our package comfortable for us individually in our rollerboard luggage with our extra luggage attachments.😊
I love this video! And yeah, every time I try to take stuff out and reduce to the Essentials, seems my bag gets heavier. 🤦🏻♀️
Still evolving for sure! But packing cubes I found years ago and don't leave home without. When I get home, everything into the laundry, and when it comes out, back into the cubes and bag. Then I just have to tweak before leaving again.
Try to have a set of "work/ trip" stuff and the set of home things, my next purchase on that front is running/ workout shoes for trips alone.
I need to find some ear buds, I gave mine to my husband. 😂
Great video! Thanks for the updates!
Good to hear your back in the air!
Yeah buddy!
Congratulations!! Nice flying Netjets!! So, flying the corporate business jets is nice. I remember I was approached by a couple of Corporate Flight Attendants to fly with them some years ago. But I hope your schedules and business jet qualifying selection gives you a good feeling of great flying.😊
Just found your channel again, I previously watched the IFG videos before I attended this summer. Thanks for the time to put them together. I just finished IFG RTP program and will hopefully be in a training program after xmas. Fingers crossed!
That’s great! IFG really set me up for success. Glad you were able to get up there.
Amazing man
Just found your channel! You’re awesome. Thanks for making all this super helpful content, especially to an aspiring aviator. Would you be willing to make a video on flying NetJets vs the airlines? I’d love to hear your experience regarding how the differences affect QOL, like schedule (and its relative lack of regulation like 121), benefits, workload, destinations, and anything else that comes to mind. Cheers!
Trying to get something like that into the works man…
Enjoying your video and I think I’m gonna take your advice and try out the packing cubes. I kind of forgot how I packed back in the day when I flew for Masaba. Did Atc for the last 13 years, and the temptation got too strong to go back to Flying and went back to Envoy last year. Still trying to get my packing in check, especially now that winter is coming up.
That’s a career change! Great to know you’re back flying. And in terms of packing, it’s always evolving for me.
I love your videos
Thanks dude, always looking for better ways to pack for week long trips. I laughed out loud because I have the exact same Hoka shoes and I just shove them into the suitcase too.
My man! I knew other people did it too! You get it!
@@DanPKing16 I don't see a problem with it either. Just ignore people who complain.
Looking forward to the video on the ear buds, can't stand mine but would like to get more answers before plunking down more cash on another pair. Packing is always evolving, and I definitely have a "junk drawer" for all the little things that you need now and then.
Oh man, my AirPods are easily my most valued item I carry with me.
thank you for this video, when i started flying i even took my thermos with coffee because the coffee of the airliner sucks, later on i met my wife ( the one that prepared the coffee) and told me the story, it was coffee from day before, anywise thanx :D
Airline coffee is always the tough call. I tend to drink it but only when I need to.
Congratulations on your job with net jets. Question: I have a place in CMH and in Melbourne, FL . Will they let me switch bases throughout the year? Say six months at once base and 6 months at the other? Thanks!
100%. So many pilots do it. You only have to give them a weeks notice to switch to the more than 100 different bases throughout the country.
Love the videos man, I’m an active duty Marine (non flight MOS) with a year and a half left, I have been grinding flight training for the last 2 1/2 years and am now a CFI with almost 700 hours. I’m seriously considering NetJets.
That’s awesome man! NetJets is a great place. Keep grinding and perhaps I’ll see you there!
Would it be possible to pack an athletic foam roller, or would there just not be enough space?
Oh man, that might be tough. I'm sure guys do it, but I don't know of anyone personally. I bet if you were just going out for short trips you could fit it.
What uniform shirt do you recommend? I’m in the market for new ones. TIA.
I’ve never had a preference. I’ve only used Crew Outfitters, M&H and the NetJets Brooks Brothers Shirt. I never altered any of them. These were all the ones that were provided to me. I would say that the M&H are my favorite of the three.
U can put socks etc. inside your shoes
First time commenting long time listener. I’ve been a plumber for the last 11 years. Made great income but tough on the body. I got all my ratings last year and now full time cfi. I constantly question if this was a good decision and if I should just go back in the trades. I love flying but I’m unsure about being away so much and the mundane part of flying as a professional pilot(you know what I mean) I’ve never been one to passionate about anything in particular but I find ways to enjoy wherever I am. Would love more insight in your lifestyle, likes and dislikes and all that…Thanks for the unique videos!
I became a regional airline pilot at age 53 and a Major airline pilot at 54. Loving it, the best job I ever had. And no back pain!
@@sb859 How’s it work for family life, scheduling as low seniority, commuting, what do you like and what are your dislikes?
That’s a good idea for a video. I may add that to the list of video ideas.
Hey Dan. I hope you can answer my question since you are a pilot. I've noticed that pilots and many airline staff use soft cases instead of hard. Is there any reason for this? Thanks!
It just allows more room for your stuff, they’re typically lighter, and you can store them in overhead compartments much easier.
My wife laughs at me for using packing cubes, she thinks I’m obsessive compulsive 😂❤
That’s funny. I don’t think there’s too much OCD involved. It’s just nice to know where everything is and make it all fit.
Dudes office looks like Casey neistats. I like it
Link for 35 Bose is not working.
Thanks for letting me know. Just fixed it.
I have a dry bag for my dirty clothes. It’s great to keep gym gear smell out if your clean stuff.
You know, I actually carry one with me as well but didn’t feature it here. That’s a great point. It’s my portable “hamper.” It’s a great thing to bring along. Thanks for bringing it up!
