    Congratulations on Delta! I'm about to upgrade at my regional airline on the RJ. 13 years flying, zero failed check rides, and I still get the feeling of "imposter syndrome" from time to time. I've come to understand that in this business where we live and die by checkrides and our actions, a little bit of imposter syndrome is a good thing. Motivates you to study and be prepared. I worry more about the people who are over confident.

    Congratulations, Dan! I want to thank you for sharing your journey. I enjoy watching your videos. They are all very well put together. They also help me greatly and inspire me as I navigate my own path. I am early in my professional flying career but #2 I can totally agree with. I have seen first hand that putting all of my eggs in a "future non-existent basket" rarely works out as planned. But rather than fight it, I think there is so much to be had taking whatever opportunities you have and using those to build onto what comes next.

    You might consider rereading the Bible. But here's a few words to ponder. What is the breath of life? “The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7). The word soul in Hebrew is nephesh, meaning “an animated, breathing, conscious, and living being.” Man did not become a living soul until God breathed life into him. So, what is the breath of God? It is the life and power of God, given to man to animate him. The Hebrew word for spirit is ruach, which means “wind, breath, air, spirit.” Genesis 1:24-25 says God created the animals, from the beasts of the earth to the creeping insects. Scripture even tells us that the breath of life resides within them (Gen. 7:15). *[So animals have souls, if man has a soul]* There's also this stunning phrase: “You save humans and animals alike, O Lord” (Psalms 36:6 NRSV) In confronting Jonah about his hard-hearted attitude, God reminded Jonah that not only have 120,000 people been spared, “many animals” were also spared (Jonah 4:11). The well-being of these animals mattered to God. First, we must recognize that animals may very well be co-inheritors with us of the new creation. When we consider that animals were part of God’s original design for his creation, it is plausible that they are part of his eternal design, as well. In his letter to the church at Rome, the Apostle Paul said all of creation was subjected to the corrupting effects of the Fall and that the day is coming when it too shall be freed from this corruption (Rom. 8:18-22). There is no reason to suspect that animals are not part of this vision of a redeemed creation. The prophet Isaiah saw a day when humans and animals would live once again in perfect harmony (Is. 11:6-9). The Apostle Paul may be telling us this is a vision of eternity, not only of the millennium. *[ remember scripture /bibles / religions exist for people to read, reference and learn from. Animals don't need to be reminding. They live each day knowing & seeing the nature of reality. Just like the donkey that saved its rider 3 times from the "angel of the lord" [ angel of death]. That angel then appeared to the man. Telling him, he would have killed him, but each time the donkey turned away. Saving the man. I could point out much more, but this can hopefully get you looking /reading - personally a heaven without animals [ innocent souls] would be pure hell. Animals dont have mans sins or morality, that doesnt mean no soul. But I can't change your mind, or walk your paths. These are things only you can do. ]*

Two years later and I'm now working as a gate agent for a regional station and interacting with flight crews on a daily basis. Thanks to you and my flight benefits I get to practice packing like a pilot in my one small carryon.

    Bit late to the party but some might read it. I like Dan was lucky in getting my training in aviation. I had never been in an aircraft in my life but after 3 day assessment was selected for an airline sponsored CPL/IR course and 15 months later was flying in the airline. After 8 years, being made redundant and 3 postings away I had had enough of managers controlling my home lifestyle, and as I was part-way through a Law Degree I quit to become an Aviation Lawyer. Later in life I went back to flying, for a much better management and ended up as a B737 Captain.

    Hi Dan, I was considering buying the Aerocoast bag however I read on Amazon that some folks had a really bad customer service experience when dealing with Aerocoast. Seems that that the cooler liner does not hold up and getting warranty repairs is next to impossible. What are your thoughts / experiences regarding that ? Thanks.

    • @DanPKing16
      @DanPKing16 Месяц назад

      I have never had to deal with their customer service side of things, however, I will say, I use-and-abuse this thing and it has held up very well. I have noticed a small hole developing in one of the corner of the cooler liner, but beyond that, it's a very durable bag.

    EXCELLENT! Glad you got out of the stupid brainwashing cult of the airline industry and the HUGE LIE that "flying is the safest form of travel"!! ALL flights WITHIN continents SHOULD BE OUTLAWED and replaced with TRAIN/RAILS! ALL PASSENGER flights across BODIES OF WATER such as oceans should be replaced with BOATS. Flights should be restricted EXCLUSIVELY to transporting TIME-SENSITIVE CARGO ACROSS OCEANS. Flying is STUPIDLY dangerous. Some activities are just TOO HARD TO DO. People are not worth it. Period.

    From a pilot who flys from 3 days to three weeks straight: I bring one set of work underwear, socks, undershirt, work shirt and work pants. Each night I wash my undergarments in the hotel room sink with the bar soap. Total time from washing, rinsing, rolling in hotel room towels and hanging to dry: 6 to 7 minutes. I wash and scrub my work shirt each 1-3 days (using a small brush that I got on Amazon)...after rolling it in a towel, iron it!). Oil on my shirt? The bar soap and scrub brush (or toothbrush in a pinch) get it clean. Use dawn blue detergent for the worst stains. I rinse my pants in the shower weekly. Having only one uniform for several weeks has worked flawlessly for five years of work. Why carry around a week's worth of dirty laundry? :)

    Similar to being a military family with two working parents and children, and with even more daily/monthly variables 😵‍💫 Why is everyone who works at an airline not allowed to say where they work?? Is there a safety reason? Union reason? I’ve had flight attendant friends refuse to tell me. Lol. You don’t get paid for the commuting time? 😮😅 (I’m watching as in commenting) . The world of high gear and high pressure jobs really don’t lend themselves to a healthy family life. ☹️

    Thank you for these videos! I’ve been looking at bags for a while now. I suspected a pilot would have a great perspective on luggage! I will not spend hundreds on the trendy luggage out there now that just scuffs really badly after one trip and is basically a plastic shell casing. Would you weigh these LW bags higher than Osprey luggage and their matching backpacks (Farpoint for men and Fairview for women)? Their obvious difference is the weight and style. They are for the true hiker type. They are really light! They are durable though, as my husband had a set. (He’s got the convertible in line rolling bag that can switch to a backpack). But I doubt they’re as durable as LW from what I see. We don’t travel that much for it to be a major deciding factor. Curious if you have an opinion on them! Luggage is so expensive for what they are, that I’ve been taking my sweet time looking at all the options. LW looks like the first brand to make sense for the price.

    • @DanPKing16
      @DanPKing16 2 месяца назад

      Working a corporate gig for over a year, I loaded a lot of Osprey and Patagonia bags onto planes. They all seemed durable and great. The Luggageworks bags aren’t necessarily the best for outdoor style trips. I have other bags for those kinds of trips. But for basic traveling, they’re great.
