I would suggest standing as far away from a wall as possible so you can surf out or retreat if shit gets bad. In some cases it can be good to stand with your back against a wall. Another tip that might've been pretty nice here (well, it's a little situational but eh) would've been that when you're ubercharging someone with the regular medi-gun, and your team is trying to destroy a sentry nest, get closer to the sentry than your teammates. +Omnivex maybe you should get back into it again I mean array makes these vids to help people inprove thier medic game so why not give it a go? and maybe u will start having fun again if u quit a long time ago
I think something somewhat unconventional is the best way to go. I'm absolutely horrible aiming with the crossbow so I use the blutsauger. Imagine your pocket getting killed on a push. Your team damaged and killed off most of the enemy, but they just fell short. Except for the medic who whips out his trusty blutsauger and fills the enemy with needles to get away and save the uber or even complete the objective himself. This kind of pairs well with the vaccinatior, quick ubers and the ability to fight back sounds really nice. A great counter to enemy pockets as well. Probably won't work in high end competitive, but lower end gameplay could use some interesting ways to play.
Another tip that I as a medic main would like to add. If you don't have a current main heal target (E.G your pocket), heal/buff people on your way back to the front lines or on your way to a medkit. If you have it set so that you don't have to hold down to heal (which there is no reason why you shouldn't) just click on the person you're passing by. In the 4-5 seconds it takes for your medigun range to run out, you'll probably have them buffed to full overheal, and build up a little bit of Über. If you start doing this naturally, you'll probably be constantly healing and you'll find you get your über a lot faster. It seems basic, but it helps out a lot.
Actually if you have toggle heal on, that means it will take longer to switch heal targets, which is a big downside when healing a group of people because while your swapping targets, you're not healing anyone. The upside is... not having to hold the mouse button down while healing one guy alone
+Themostrandomofguys How is clicking on someone slower than letting go of your mousebutton and then clicking? Are you trying to shave off nanoseconds by not fully releasing your mousebutton? It is easier to not miss out on healing time if you always have a heal target.
I'm actually a medic main. Thanks to these tips, I am actually appreciated by my team and great at medic. Not to mention with the crossbow I don't even need to look twice anymore. Just shoot and done. Thanks Array Seven :)
I may have made medic my main class anyway after playing Star Wars The Old Republic as a Healing SIth Sorcerer, but it is you, AR7, who has made me into the awesome medic main that I am in pubs. I am always told by my team that I am a good medic and i feel like a god whenever I play. So thank you. Without your constant stream of videos, I would never have become a good medic main.
Not sure how "advanced" these medic tips are, but you are trying to help newer players get into medic so I can't badger too much. The one thing i'll nitpick though is the back against the wall bit, doing that leaves you vulnerable to solder/demo bomb-ins leaving you with either a left or right option of escape. That's not a good thing to do, since strafing (or damage surfing) becomes null and void for the medic while the soldier/demo have all the mobility control. Once you actually learn to turn your mouse every now and then, and strafe-step as medic, you learn that spies aren't that much of a threat and these bomb-ins are more prone to happen (especially with scouts). All in all, you are trying to help people out with medic without shoving your own version of medic down people's throats; which is what I'm all about when watching guides! You did a good job dood, you've even given me an idea in the process!
Player 3 If only array would bring up such a controversial lesson. Strafe stepping is when you hug the mouse at a 45 degree angle while holding left or right. This gives you a better view of the majority of the battlefield, while making it super tough for spies to stab you. It makes it so your hitbox is facing right, instead of forward, so the spy has to awkwardly position himself to stab you. Since you have a better preferal view, you can see the spy coming a mile away and thus give a better callout. It also gives you the ability to have a start up strafe if a soldier bombs in, all you gotta do is jump the moment is fires and that strafe step makes it so you're already strafing to begin with, while all and all keeping a professional movement. Things like that are what I consider to be advanced medic tips, but meh maybe i'll make a different video on it. Array did a fine job all and all, should help newer players love medic even more.
@@dondeka2086 it's not like the only weapon pyro has is the flamethrower and the only thing you can do with it is braindeadlesly walking at people. I like that you mentioned damage surfing, but I think a lot of your clips were poor representations of proper damage surfing :/ It looked like you didn't have great control and were cancelling a lot of your movement.
+TuxGaming Timetoplay But he DIDN'T get his point across because I was sitting there thinking "man he doesn't know how to do the thing he's talking about." If he had filmed multiple real surfing clips, it would've looked cleaner. So we have two options here, either he doesn't know how to surf, or he's lazy.
+TuxGaming Timetoplay +TuxGaming Timetoplay nope, he was jumping around like a maniac. He timed the surfing really bad. Ive learned surfing in mge and i surf on every rocket automatically. If you want to master surfing as medic play rocket jump maps for soldier, especially sync jumps because thats kinda the same as surfing but then a perfect surf. From rocketjumping you learn also strafing as medic while surfing and good character movement control. Surfing is rocketjumping with the enemy's rocket. But the surfs in this video where timed way to early, idk even know if he hold crouch
first thing i ever learned as a medic was "keep your back to the fucking wall" which was shortly joined by a scout that somehow slipped past a level 3 and a pyro just to kill me
The little bit you said at the end of the video about knowing when you're fucked is an important lesson that not enough people understand. Even if you're invincible or have kritz, your *class*-medic pair may not be enough to push through the enemy position. Too often I'll kritz a soldier only to have him immediately charge into sentry nests, rather than crocket-sniping the enemy organics.
One of the reasons I like playing medic is all the fun close calls when you and the person your healing about to die then you uber and the person your healing DEMOLISHES the enemy team.
When you brought up the "Bow and Buff" tactic it gave me a reassuring grin to my face. Seriously this tactic is the primary reason why The Crusaders' Crossbow is my favorite Medic Weapon! It saves me the hassle of trying to save a teammate that might as well be disintegrated by a Soldier's rocket launcher! I can heal him quickly from a distance while my heal target retaliates against his aggressor! That makes it safer for me to clear the gap!
Thanks a bunch. I often find myself off-classing as medic in matchmaking because, more important than having fun, bettering my main or enjoying time with buddies, I like to win.
Arrayseven, i love your videos so much. Watching them inspired me to main medic, and to this day, medic is still my main class. Thankyou so much for being who you are, and keep up the amazing work. Love you man. - A fellow fan

+Adude601 I agree. It is a very helpful tactic.
Actually if you have toggle heal on, that means it will take longer to switch heal targets, which is a big downside when healing a group of people because while your swapping targets, you're not healing anyone. The upside is... not having to hold the mouse button down while healing one guy alone
+Themostrandomofguys you don't have to click to stop healing then click again if you click on someone else it instantly starts healing them
+Adude601 You have to swich weapons to cut off healing. So no downsides that matter. Still, I prefer holding it.
Array.... my first medic teacher- thanks man you're amazing.
OMG HAND REVEAL
I may have made medic my main class anyway after playing Star Wars The Old Republic as a Healing SIth Sorcerer, but it is you, AR7, who has made me into the awesome medic main that I am in pubs. I am always told by my team that I am a good medic and i feel like a god whenever I play. So thank you. Without your constant stream of videos, I would never have become a good medic main.
I'm joke, so I'll make a Donald Trump
Early!
xD
I am retarted and I find this old joke
thats actually pretty funny
I dunt understand but i liked this good comment anyway
he basically mixed it up completely. Its normally: I'm early, so I'll make a joke!
Donald trump!
1:55 Trickstabs: Allow me to introduce myself
Rob you're awesome!
+RobTheAwsm TF2 What is strafe-stepping? I'm googling it and i can't find the definition.
Thanks for teaching me man, appreciate it :)
Player 3 no problem :P
I main sniper, but medic is my go-to when my team already has 6 snipers or they just really need a medic. This helped a lot, danke.
I find the medic the easiest class...
I never actually played Soldier.
Pyro is the easiest, because w+m1
@@dondeka2086 it's not like the only weapon pyro has is the flamethrower and the only thing you can do with it is braindeadlesly walking at people. Also every class can be said as just w+m1
Scout can be said as running and shooting aka w+m1
Soldier can be said as pointing and clicking and rocket jumping could be said as m1, space bar, crouch and a+d
Demoman could be said as w+m1+m2
Heavy could also be said as w+m1
Engineer could be said as 4+3+w +4+4+m1+4+1+m1+4+2+m1
Sniper could be said as just m1
Medic could be said as wm1 too
Spy could be said as 4+1+w+m1
Medic main here, glad to hear from another brother. Good writing, good editing, good info. Should be useful in upping my game.
I knew you would remove the overwatch video, thats why im reuploading it ;P
+Unzki aw dude, I missed it, what was that video about?
Video was all about him ranting how bad Overwatch is and how good tf2 is.
like random hate or argumented hate?
May lobbies fear expert medic mains.
*_We change the course of the battle entirely_*
Is it bad to have medic as my favorite class
Guessingguy oh thanks
as a former medic main this is the best tips array given so far
I was hoping you'd have really hairy hands honestly im quite disappointed.
but a good video as always
When I started playing, I realized that I lasted longer as medic than any other class. So i started maining medic.
I like that you mentioned damage surfing, but I think a lot of your clips were poor representations of proper damage surfing :/ It looked like you didn't have great control and were cancelling a lot of your movement.
Indeed, looked like he was surfing holding w and not using strafe keys, thats why you need to practice soldier jump maps also playing medic
But the surfs in this video where timed way to early, idk even know if he hold crouch
i never thought about the 1st tip before. and the wall humping will help greatly too, thx for the tips
Ignore friends watch Senpai.
+Syrette Song please don't call me that....
+ArraySeven Array*
+ArraySeven Okay Array SENPAI
+ArraySeven SENPAAIIII~!! You were destined to blow my euphonium! Can't you hear it? "Blow me, blow me," it says!
+ArraySeven fuck I already regret that entire comment please forgive me for I have sinned
medic is so much fun. i just love keeping my team alive
what hud do you use?
+RadicalLime default....
***** omg you replied to me!
+Rad no he didn't.
RAYSHUD
"You can see them coming like transparent genetalia"
This is the reason you are one of my favorite tf2ubers.
i thought array was a battle medic
Like full on battle medic :/
i can finally get my medical license
....So the medic class sucks if you don't have good players on your team. K got it ;)
+LOL LOL Pretty much true really.
Well I mean, it's a support class...
+Rovi Decena So is sniper and sniper isn't completely worthless without a good team...
Didn't realize Medic had this depth. Thanks!
Dude. Video quality. Bruh.
+gizmod 0/10000000000000000000000 You said "bruh".
Thanks man.
gizmod No problem. You get a complementary cookie.
Sarcasm.
Bruh.
gizmod I know. Bruh.
Wow, The Damage, Medic & Sweeper Sounds Like It Would Make An Unstoppable Phalanx!
the worst part of playing medic is you're treated like a pet
I love playing medic
After this vid, I had a better experience
first thing i ever learned as a medic was "keep your back to the fucking wall" which was shortly joined by a scout that somehow slipped past a level 3 and a pyro just to kill me
Went on to yt to find how to get better at medic. This video was the firdt thing to appear as soon as I launched the RUclips app. Genius
The little bit you said at the end of the video about knowing when you're fucked is an important lesson that not enough people understand. Even if you're invincible or have kritz, your *class*-medic pair may not be enough to push through the enemy position. Too often I'll kritz a soldier only to have him immediately charge into sentry nests, rather than crocket-sniping the enemy organics.
i got tf2 about 2 weeks ago and ive decided to main medic. these tip videos are really, REALLY useful!
I love this guy's channel.
He's my tf2 hero, and that's why I switched from spy to medic.
Thanks man, I recently got into TF2 and I really appreciate the advice. I'm going to need it for when I duke it out with Omegatronic :)
God, Omega needs to get banned!
One of the reasons I like playing medic is all the fun close calls when you and the person your healing about to die then you uber and the person your healing DEMOLISHES the enemy team.
Medic is just one of thoose mains who everyone loves but no one wants to play
I don't even play medic, and here I am watching a ArraySeven medic video.
I have a lot of free time.
Also: ALWAYS overheal a friendly medic. It’s like having a backup if you die
Huh, I never really thought about the Bolt and Buff, but that does make sense. Thanks, for helping me save a few seconds.
When you brought up the "Bow and Buff" tactic it gave me a reassuring grin to my face. Seriously this tactic is the primary reason why The Crusaders' Crossbow is my favorite
Medic Weapon! It saves me the hassle of trying to save a teammate that might as well be disintegrated by a Soldier's rocket launcher! I can heal him quickly from a distance while my heal target retaliates against his aggressor! That makes it safer for me to clear the gap!
Transparent genetalia ...this is one of the many reasons I love these channel
Danke for this! It's very helpful for a Medic main like myself! :D
Thanks, as I scout main I learned to protect the medic more
when u think he's dead. he comes up with something fanstastic...
ArraySeven I will promote your channel in my guide, cause you taught me how medics works. Again thank you
Thanks a bunch.
Yes, I know I’m 4 years late to this video being out. But medic is my favorite class and he’s just fun to play. I don’t really need to be on my toes about killing or be killed. But even if it’s just healing for the whole round, I tell myself “my team probably had an easier time with me around” and it makes me feel good about playing him
You should seriously consider writing a book. Your scripts are amazing! (and I would actually be able to read a book I'd like) Keep up the the good work man!
I main medic naturally and this really helped. By naturally I mean I’m better at support than being in front
array seven one question and one complement the question is what is your fov and the complement is your the best medic I have seen
Tip: Use the Kritzkrieg if you are defending a point. Use the Kritzkrieg again if there is a big sentry base with sentries very close to eachother.
March should be Arrayseven's Annual Medic Month.
You do a lot of live commentary
