I personally love the Vow. I renamed my Strange one to "My Odd Medical License" And the description: "I finally got my medical license back! Oddly, it says 'Do More Harm'."
It is banned because of it's ability to see enemy Ubercharge, lowering the skill ceiling rather than raising it. If it didn't have this one ability, it could find it's way into competitive matches.
Because the other weapons are trash, not only are weak, extremely situational and only worth pulling out very rarely, they are also the worst implemented weapon in tf2. The syringes you get to see, unlike any other projectile, are calculated client side, so the actual syringes on the server are in another place, actually, thats why so often you hit when you shouldn't and miss when you see a perfect . This , combined with the ridiculously low projectile speed, makes it impossible to get good at this weapon, and it is only reliable when shooting at enemies that run at you in a straight line. The crossbow, however, adds depth to medics gameplay, it adds meaningful decisions, makes it so you finally have to aim as med, and let's you pull out sick shots like the other classes. If finallybis like med had a primary. The crossbow is not the problem, it is one of the best designed unlocks in the game.
The Crusader's Crossbow overshadows every other weapon because it's overpowered and gives you the ability to heal teammates from a save distance with no downsides for doing so. A medic is normally designed to heal teammates in the battlefield which is a risk reward system cuz he helps the team but he also brings himself to danger. The Crusader's Crossbow completely contradicts that idea by letting you heal your teammates from a save distance. Valve needs to give it a really heavy downside in order to make it not overpowered. the only one that I could think of is to maybe make it that it can also heal enemies or that it maybe doesn't heal teammates at a specific distance. Overall it needs a heavy nerf to not overshadow the other weapons and knowing the Community, they will cry and complain to such an extend that valve most likely will just bring it back just so that the community shuts up
@@cerocero2817 I rarely use the Crusaders Crossbow because I can't aim for shit. Syringe guns can be weird to use, but once you get the hang of it I've found something such as the Blutsauger can be helpful if I'm making an escape from a trigger-happy scout. Even though I do agree it is Medic's best primary, I don't think it's nearly as powerful as some people say it is.
@@tim14022000 It adds the risk of missing the shot, since often you'll have to aim at a moving teammate, and you need line of sight , and you get less über, and it lacks crit heals, so it definitely requires taking meaningful decisions. It was already nerfed to get less über, it's perfect as is, doesnt make sense destroying a great weapon so that you have an excuse to use crappy ones. The comunity would cry becauuse such a change would make medic weaker, less skill based, less deep, less involved and more boring in genneral. Would you also say that pyro should have all his melee weapons nerfed into the ground because the fireaxe is shit?
This is actually my favorite Medic melee weapon (mine's even called "Physicians Phriend"), it's just too much fun sniping low-health enemies who aren't expecting it at long range with the Crossbow. Also, I love the irony of maiming people with a bust of Hippocrates, it just speaks volumes about Medic's character. I wouldn't be averse to it getting changed up, though. (Although I'd like to keep the ability to see enemy health and names as a passive as a little bonus, it isn't exactly overpowered.)
@@country_mouse7079 It's not busted. It's just a bit too powerful for too little downsides. The biggest downside for it is "It's not the ubersaw" which is a pretty big downside all things considered. It also removes the need for a crucial skill in competitive tf2: "Uber-tracking" or whatever you want to call it, which just makes it not fun to play against because the enemy medic can always know what uber you're at just by quickly glancing at you which puts the enemy medic at a disadvantage since a medic hardly ever pulls out their melee to begin with. The upside outweighs the downside so much that it's banned in 6s. (idk if it's banned in HL, but I assume it is. could be wrong). A decent balance change that would still keep the same vibe of the weapon, would be require it to be active to see enemy health/uber, and a -50% holster speed penalty
@@MythicTF2 The quick fix makes the "Its's not the ubersaw" downside redundant as The quick fix already boosts uber charge rate. Id say its more for pocket medics to tell their heavy/pyro/soldier who the weak links are in the other team

I think the Solemn Vow may be unnecessary for competitive, but in casual it can be a great sidegrade for the medic just allowing you to have more info about the enemy
Pretty interesting because you know THE GUY KILLS FOR A JOB but I guess if you ended up on his table, you will at least live to get up from it with varying degrees of death possiblity. Remember supposed boneless man was able to tell others his condition before medic lost its licence for his practice.
5:25 - Disguised spies actually still have teammates outlines, so the Solemn Vow would be useless in spy checking. Although, if a teammate calls out a spy, you can use your Solemn Vow to either 1. Check the names of other players (if the spy is disguised) or 2. Wait for a unfamiliar outline to pop up on your screen, indicating a spy has just appeared.
Did you not listen to the thing he said literally 10 seconds before your time stamp? "I would suggest against disguised spies being outlined", then he proceeded to say it could be used for spy checking under those circumstances.
When I equip the solem vow, its used for when a scout engages me or someone flanks me, In those moments when I can see there health it makes me more confident I can kill them and return to my team. When a scout with 10 health is trying to kill you knowing he has 10 health helps immensely. Although it isnt META pairing it with the blutsauger allows a medic to defend himself better, because he can gauge there health and determine if fighting is even an option. an 80 health solder vs a 200 health solder is a big deal. For me it helps in determining whether I live or die, and it does it in a way the other saws do not do for me, by making it so I can live in the first place
Here's an out-there idea: Displays all the information passively, regardless of current weapon. BUT it no longer is a "weapon". You cannot pull it out, you basically lose your melee entirely and have to rely on your primary and medigun. May need a buff, but your trading close range defense for on demand information. Plus, it goes with the whole 'do no harm' theme... y'know except ironically.
That is a direct nerf to what it already is, which is not what this weapon needs. It already displays all the information passively regardless of the current weapon, you're just taking away the part where you can use it as a last resort too.
you make the point that "people already do what the solemn vow does without it." while this is true, if youve ever watched competitive or played it, even the most perfect of teams still dont always track hp perfectly and the word you said for uber tracking was a "guess" and to the reason uber faking exists is to psyche out the enemy med. faking means nothing if you spot the enemy med. i feel like your changes enables medics to be dumber because it encourages them to not be aware of their teams organization and positioning around it. the movement speed buff is useless since medic can copy scout speed and it would, again, just encourage medics to make positioning mistakes. ive also seen people say that it was banned in comp, but as of this season of RGL, it is not
He is on the casual side then comp. Because as you said it CAN be good in competitive but in pubs where majority does dumb things, you can't really use it. You are right about movement speed if medic wasn't a fast class, it would be less important but he isn't and can and will do mistakes because of over estimation. Seeing allies is good however it does come with a hefty down side. As a passive item that helps you gather information, it should have a better down side than slower holster as it can make positioning and understanding the situation better, I would suggest +10% more damage taken from bullets thus making you learn to use positioning better. When a random group gets paired to play in comp it can help medic to understand where he should be. A training tool per say.
@Murat Tan Dude, you can already get that medic wallhack he describes by simply enabling the Medic autocall at some insanely high HP %. It works on disguised and invisible Spies, so have fun sniping them from across the map as well.
i cannot even describe how often WHERE THE F**K IS MY TEAM happens to me. every other game is like this. i get out the gate, turn the corner, then follow the sounds of gunshots and explosions for what feels like hours trying to find out where the heck everyone went. and then i run into an enemy soldier that blasts my arse into oblivion to an empty spawnroom and still can't find the entire 11 other teammates.
The main problem I thought it had is that the Spy already gets that information, and can relay it to the team. (And we all know you'll have *at least* one spy)
Back then, before the nerf, I used to think it was objectively the best melee since it literally had no downsides, and every other saw's effect was like "yeah thats cool but I cant see their health"
I personally love it, it allows me to pick and choose my fights, predict enemies movement, and make informed calls to my teams. I mainly play competitive though. For pubs or super low level comp I still recommend (and use) the ubersaw. Too many dumb people you can farms a full Uber off.
true. amputator if you love making sure your team get as many heals as possible like i do. i love pulling it out when i'm sitting at a dispenser or if most of my teammates are injured and in a small area.
2:23 >be you >you are alone 1v1 med vs soldier (you're on kritz with 0% uber left) >see soldier has full hp >demoman jumpscare just shot 40 more damage at you. >think "shit I'm not getting any uber for this" instead of "shit I'm going to lose this 1v1 and die" smh smh smh
The vow was my first strange, so it became a staple to my loadout. It's has changed my mindset of medic so much that I feel naked with other saws at times. Being able to know if I have the advantage on the heavy revving up at me to bonk him real quick or if I should just run and leave him in the dust and live is a great tool for me.
@@HeartOfDarth21 i dont think he did at this time either. he literally said the main thing he thinks when he pulls it out is "oh shit im not getting an uber for this" insisting he already moved onto the ubersaw
"see enemy Ubercharge" should be replaced with "see teammates below 50% health through walls" and obviously "cannot see cloaked enemy spies through walls"
Really loved the concept of the “seeing where teammates are and their health” when you spawn as medic and I would love to have that as a permanent effect as a weapon
so i always guessed the play on Hypocrates is that with solemn vow, you get to see enemy health and "shouldn't abuse that knowledge" to do harm, but tbh, a weapon that lets you see enemy ubercharge rate would be interesting to see on either sniper or spy, though it would definitely be easy for a sniper to pick off medics right before they can pop uber if that were to happen, unless the bullet traveled like insanely slow as a trade-off. spy may make the most sense class-wise to be the one who should know this stuff
I don't remember the last time I saw someone use the solemn vow. And I really like these ideas. The "respawn wallhacks" are horrendous for spies and need an overhaul anyway, but it's a real blessing for medics. You get to see exactly what class is doing what, who of them is closest and in the most need of a medic, and it helps you get some of the most amazing crossbow shots, just as they cross the corner.
Idk man. I think its rewarded skill. Like your using your constant ability of direct hit for, well an easier to hit and higher damage direct hit. Without the ability of constant direct hit it would be pointless
This would be a very good rebalance for the solemn Val I mean when your teammates call for medic you can see the medic sign through walls but the solemn Val would actually have an outline witch would make it better
And that's exactly why his rework is fucking useless. If you want to see enemies through walls simply use the bind that changes the autocall theresold to above 150% HP. It's easily available and you should be able to find it if you look for "Medic Radar". If you can't, no worries, I'll leave it on the top of the comments anyway so everyone can see how dumb this is
don't forget that the solemn vow always makes you ask the question "can I take him," while with anything else, you go "hell yeah I can take him, cmere you little cream puff, let me show you the definition of butt christmas" if you get the reference that's awesome
I don't think it should increase your movement speed since Medic is already the second fastest class and it would be even more annoying to spies but the outline sounds amazing It shouldn't allow for easy spychecking though. It can be made hard by only highlighting spies that are in sight.
I actually really enjoy the see enemy health buff It lets you know if you should just run or melee someone as a last ditch effort in a situation where your pocket just died
The solemn vow allows you to look at the enemies while you're healing to gauge whether shooting at them will pick them off. It's actually pretty above average in usefulness compared to most tf2 weapons.
@@sword7166 Ubersaw > vitasaw & solemn vow > Amputator(medigun is better 9times out of 10) ArraySeven is saying the solemn vow is a joke when it's a solid melee weapon for medic.
3:58 Please no...please God no....Spy is already hard enough to play... When Valve added that stupid ass wall hack outline, it DESTROYED the disguise kit entirely. Utilizing the disguise kit for what it was meant for was already hard enough, but now using it at all punishes the spy because when an enemy respawns, they'll see that obvious spy through the walls who's trying to flank simply because he's pre disguised (as all spies should be) who had it not been for those wall hacks, no one would've known he was there. I've been killed countless times because the enemy tracks me down simply because i'm not cloaked 24/7 despite being an extremely stealthy spy. I know I know, no one falls for disguises since 2009, but at least it didn't HURT you to disguise yourself. Now being disguised, which is something you have to have on at ALL times to combat the sentries, significantly hurts you because the enemy now sees your obvious ass through and across the map. God I hated when Valve added that mechanic. Medic will be a walking talking spy detector like how engie was with the pre blue moon short circuit, except more powerful. I really, REALLY think this is a bad idea. Edit: Okay nvm, you addressed that point about disguised spies. ...I probably should have watched the whole video before writing this comment... nah, it deserves to be there
Because the other weapons are trash, not only are weak, extremely situational and only worth pulling out very rarely, they are also the worst implemented weapon in tf2.
Seeing enemy health and Uber is so " Busted " in comp
Id say its more for pocket medics to tell their heavy/pyro/soldier who the weak links are in the other team
the only problem with it is that... the ubersaw exists

5:25 - Disguised spies actually still have teammates outlines, so the Solemn Vow would be useless in spy checking.
Although, if a teammate calls out a spy, you can use your Solemn Vow to either
1. Check the names of other players (if the spy is disguised) or
2. Wait for a unfamiliar outline to pop up on your screen, indicating a spy has just appeared.

Here's an out-there idea:
Displays all the information passively, regardless of current weapon.
It already displays all the information passively regardless of the current weapon, you're just taking away the part where you can use it as a last resort too.
you make the point that "people already do what the solemn vow does without it." while this is true, if youve ever watched competitive or played it, even the most perfect of teams still dont always track hp perfectly and the word you said for uber tracking was a "guess" and to the reason uber faking exists is to psyche out the enemy med. faking means nothing if you spot the enemy med. i feel like your changes enables medics to be dumber because it encourages them to not be aware of their teams organization and positioning around it. the movement speed buff is useless since medic can copy scout speed and it would, again, just encourage medics to make positioning mistakes.
ive also seen people say that it was banned in comp, but as of this season of RGL, it is not
I agree with you array is really shit at trying to balance and change things, he either buffs them to hell or makes the changes absolutely useless
A training tool per say.
who he fuck plays competitive tf2
@Murat Tan Dude, you can already get that medic wallhack he describes by simply enabling the Medic autocall at some insanely high HP %. It works on disguised and invisible Spies, so have fun sniping them from across the map as well.

every other game is like this. i get out the gate, turn the corner, then follow the sounds of gunshots and explosions for what feels like hours trying to find out where the heck everyone went. and then i run into an enemy soldier that blasts my arse into oblivion to an empty spawnroom and still can't find the entire 11 other teammates.
turn on auto medic calling in advanced options

@@teaandbiscuitz8677 my positioning isn't the problem. i have to be great at positioning because i run the amputator.
@@thatguybrody4819 If you can't find your team, that's bad positioning. Doesn't matter if you use the amputator if your team is never in range xD
@@jjthan8772 i can be at the front lines or directly on the cart and still find nobody. it's not my positioning. i can guarantee that.
The dumbest part about this is I've been laughing at this joke for years now
I personally love it, it allows me to pick and choose my fights, predict enemies movement, and make informed calls to my teams. I mainly play competitive though.

As a Engineer Main, the information is true here. I could kill the medic with my heavy friend.
6:45 is your profile picture heavy freight train derricrane
so i always guessed the play on Hypocrates is that with solemn vow, you get to see enemy health and "shouldn't abuse that knowledge" to do harm, but tbh, a weapon that lets you see enemy ubercharge rate would be interesting to see on either sniper or spy, though it would definitely be easy for a sniper to pick off medics right before they can pop uber if that were to happen, unless the bullet traveled like insanely slow as a trade-off. spy may make the most sense class-wise to be the one who should know this stuff
“Rewards skill” *shows the direct hit*
Idk man. I think its rewarded skill. Like your using your constant ability of direct hit for, well an easier to hit and higher damage direct hit. Without the ability of constant direct hit it would be pointless
"Do no harm"
The enemy wouldn't get hurt, they'd just laugh at you for using a pathetic melee
You say that and then you get oneshot by a crit solemn vow
This would be a very good rebalance for the solemn Val I mean when your teammates call for medic you can see the medic sign through walls but the solemn Val would actually have an outline witch would make it better
And that's exactly why his rework is fucking useless. If you want to see enemies through walls simply use the bind that changes the autocall theresold to above 150% HP. It's easily available and you should be able to find it if you look for "Medic Radar". If you can't, no worries, I'll leave it on the top of the comments anyway so everyone can see how dumb this is
don't forget that the solemn vow always makes you ask the question "can I take him," while with anything else, you go "hell yeah I can take him, cmere you little cream puff, let me show you the definition of butt christmas"
if you get the reference that's awesome
I don't think it should increase your movement speed since Medic is already the second fastest class and it would be even more annoying to spies but the outline sounds amazing
It shouldn't allow for easy spychecking though. It can be made hard by only highlighting spies that are in sight.
im gonna be honest I dont play medic much but I think your content Is amazing and your definitely getting me into medic

The solemn vow allows you to look at the enemies while you're healing to gauge whether shooting at them will pick them off. It's actually pretty above average in usefulness compared to most tf2 weapons.
The thing is it's not competing with most weapons in tf2, it's only competing with medic's other melees, which are basically all super strong

Please no...please God no....Spy is already hard enough to play...
