You can watch a hundred guides on how to play Medic, but remembering each one individually in a match can be hard. This sort of freeform "Here's a game I played, and what I thought while playing it" shows the exact mindset you need to keep in a bunch of different scenarios. The end result? It stuck in my subconscious and made me a better Medic for it. Thanks, Array!

A BMV is basically a medic's survival reflex
    It occurs when:
    - You see some roller pipes shashay into the chokepoint and you're at less than 100 health
    - You see a roamer heading for you or your pocket
    - You hear or see a decloak
    - You hear a minigun rev on the other side of the choke paired with the "full uber" sound effect on the medigun (especially this)
    etc

as a heavy main i can answer this easily
see the answer is twofold, the first being the more obvious of the two
retreating in the middle of a firefight is kind of a non-option for us. sure we can dip behind a nearby wall for cover but our movement more or less forces us to adopt the doctrine of "we don't half ass anything". if we move to a position we are committed to that position regardless of what situation that position is in when we get there. all you other guys have the freedom to change your decision after the fact. except maybe the soldier. and that's part of what separates a good heavy from a bad heavy. in order to maximize our effectiveness, we have to know more or less exactly what things are going to be like in any given place before we get there. we will kill the enemy or buy you time. as much as it may hurt you deep inside, we will almost always die in the positions we put ourselves in.
now the second answer is less obvious but also the simplest. we don't play heavy to be babies. we are big angry gorillas with no concept of self preservation. our minds are focused on one thing and one thing only. devastation. self preservation is a concept for babies, medical practitioners and utility workers and we are none of those things.
we will die with hope, however false, that our sacrifice (however dumb) will not be in vain.
    we tend our gun
    we shoot our gun
    and sometimes we contemplate literature
it ain't much but it's honest work

@@twicethegalo I don't know, why do people dodge healing arrows? why do they call for med while you are healing them at 100% and then run away as soon as you charge them? Why do they refuse to use medkits and dispensers even when you have half the team at red health waiting for your heals?...
Some people just don't care about meds, it's a hard job, but a rewarding one.

At 9:59 you could of jumped to railing, then rock, then through ‘window’ corridor thing back to spawn. Great little spot for Red spys to get to behind Blu as well.

Great video! These really help me with playing as medic, but something I struggle with is playing WITH a medic. Could you maybe bring up how to go about being pocketed as a power-class? I always get nervous when a medic pockets me as I simply dont know how to make the most of an uber / keep my medic out of danger. Thanks for reading!

Maaan, these videos really make me wanna go out there and play medic! But then I get in game, and it's just an unplayable mess owing to hackers. Thanks for the great content anyways.

Another great video of yours. It's always so fun to analyze those insane situations when no one really knows what is happening. Hope you'll make a few dozen of those videos before they sap the soul out of you.

regarding the username of the pyro who gets ubered around 5:30 - " 'Oumuamua " is the first observed insterstellar object to travel through our solar system, it was spotted in 2017 when it was 33 million miles away. it had just passed by the sun at that point. definitely look it up if you're into that.
