This hit harder than I thought it would. The box in the seat, Jamie talking to him and the ashes. I truly did not expect it to make me cry again. I've been able to watch old videos and enjoy them more over time. Yet his earthy remains returning home is very sad.
Thank you Jamie for letting us know the words of encouragement and care have made a difference. The out pouring of love by thousands is genuine. It's comforting to know you've been comforted. It's also allowed many in comments or videos to express share their losses. Sherpa loved people and although his work here is done he's still bringing people together and spreading love. Magnificent dog, truly a Legend.

@@teashagarland6179 I understand your pain my friend. I lost my husband of 46 years in March '23. I'm certainly in a better place emotionally than a year ago. My hubby suffered with MS the last 30 years which had been getting progressively worse. He fell at home and entered the hospital Feb. 17. Sadly he never came home again, and passed March 17. I try to look at it as he is no longer in pain or suffering so in that regard I'm glad he is now in heaven with his parents and two brothers who all passed before him.

My husband passed away in May and he had requested to be cremated. When I went to pick him up I was shocked at how heavy the urn was. I had got the urn off Amazon. It is beautiful. It is bright blue with a waving American Flag and an Eagle. I took the urn to the funeral home and they put his ashes in it. But I had to have my son come over to place his urn on the fireplace mantle. There were some boxes in front of the fireplace (supplies from the VA for his care) and I didn’t have the strength to lift it up over the boxes. My son was also shocked how heavy it was. He thought it maybe was the weight of the urn but I said the urn wasn’t that heavy when I took it to the funeral home. When my husband passed he weighed less than 125 lbs. his ideal weight was around 180. I still miss him everyday. We were together over 53 years.

I expect that he would want to continue earning a living by making RUclips videos, and seemingly sharing life with another dog would be the best way to proceed at some point in the future. And by gum, I will be watching whatever Jamie would like to post on RUclips. I have enjoyed spending time with Jamie over the past several years, and I sure would like to continue doing so. Mine, over the years, are are all buried next to each other in Pet Sematary. I personally cannot do the ashes thing nor do I even have any of their pictures out. Seeing them everyday like that would make me far too sad. But I remember them and what they look like in all their little quirks in my heart and there's an album on the bookshelf that I can pull out anytime if I want to see pictures.
I think everybody needs to do whatever brings comfort to them and honor to their faithful friend.

Thank you for being such a loyal and lovely companion to your dad Jamie and thank you for sharing your journey with all your loved ones with the rest of us round the world. You put smiles on more faces than you’ll ever know. Now there are tears on those faces because you had to go. Your body just gave out and God said it was time for you to cross the rainbow bridge and take your place in the heavens where you could run, chase balls, eat puppachinos, and roam with your new body. We’ll keep an eye on your dad Jamie for you until you see him again someday.

“I’m not friends with the Jeep right now.” I felt this one deep. I was not friends with my Rogue for a couple of months afterwards. Oct 23rd, 2022 my 15 year old German Shepherd, Belle, let me know it was time and I did what was best for her. She was my “soul” dog but her Pit bull brother, Beans, didn’t last 17 more days without his sister of 12 years. Beans was my “heart” dog and I miss him every day. I adopted another rescue a little over a month later. A Siberian husky mix, Finch. I have never owned a husky breed before and all I can say is - Finch is my “mental health” dog.

So I am going to tell you that he will blame yourself and you will question every choice you made up to the point of Sharpa crossing over the bridge. Know that he loved you and wanted to stay with you but he couldn’t. Know, that he knows you did the best you could for him and know that when is your time he will be there waiting for you with a wagging tail and a smile on his face.
You should also know that you will cry at the weirdest of times you’ll think about him and your cry, that is grief. And that is the love you have for him. May God bless you and keep you during this horrible time.

I watched the movie Hachi one time years ago, and sobbed so hard I swore I could never watch it again. (Haven't and won't...) I've had many kitties during my adult life, and the first four that passed away were buried in the backyard of my former home, where my ex still lives. More recently, the four kitties I've lost since then (lost a cat each year, 2016, '17, '18 and '19,) have been cremated and are in pretty urns in my home. I'm very glad I chose to go that way.

You don't NEED to get another puppy or a dog. Of course you need time to heal. Sherpa won't be replaced but what if he "sends" you another dog that needs the love you can give? That dog loved you, you don't really think he wants to see you alone, do you? You're definitely the only one to make that decision. The advice you get on that front is from those of us who've been through it and know the lyric very well. As for me, I wish one tenth of the people I deal with every single day were willing to go the miles you do in caring for their dogs. You're one in a million and seeing just ONE dog getting the care you give will make up a portion of how many I see every day get nothing but pain, loneliness, abandonment and suffering. You're supported in your pain. Most us here know it and have been there. Some of us, many more times than once. Some day, I hope you try again but if you don't, then you don't. I'm personally hoping you will but it's your life, no one else's. For what it's worth, I'm glad Sherpa is "home" again...but I kinda suspect he never really left just yet.
