    A couple of years ago (after a lifetime too long of waiting!) I bought a reconditioned Vitamix model 5300, and I absolutely love it. I use it all the time, and only a little for smoothies! I also have the personal cup adapter, which I occasionally use for blending small amounts. I have ordered this immersion blender so I can more easily make those small amounts--easier clean-up, and because unlike my Cuisinart immersion blender, this won't scratch up my cookware. Hoorah! Thank you for the review and for your website and all the videos.

    I got one, washed it, assembled it (went together with a simple twist and snap), used it--all great. I went to take it apart for cleaning--won't come apart. I carefully noted the twist direction you used for disassembly. I used two rubber grippers--that sucker is stuck. I pushed in and twisted, I pulled out and twisted, I carefully tried to rotate the other direction--no luck. Any ideas?

    After watching your recommended video, I purchased a Venturist 1200 from Costco and came in a special package w/immersion blender. It went into the graveyard of appliances portion of the pantry: fondue set, wok, waffle maker. It was not until much later that I discovered why to use the entire blender when I only need 2 cups, of soups, mashed potatoes, and whipped cream.

    I have a full-size vita mix at home but now we are traveling full time in our motorhome so we have very limited space. My favorite feature about the full size vitamix is the way it handles tomato skins when we make salsa and the seeds in jalapeños. Will this immersion blender handle those well?

    My top use for an immersion blender is small batches of Mayo.The cost of entry is paid for in a few months just by the amount of money you save on commercial mayo.

    • @TheHronar

      neutral oil, egg or aquafaba, acid (lemon, lime, vinegar) and about 2 minutes is all you need to make a quick mayo with an immersion blender.

    I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! I was expecting to fast forward to the performance of the blender but the video was both soothing and informative. I really like the honesty when describing the blenders capabilities and uses. Also, the last bit with your wife and kid were a pretty cool touch. It was ensuring to see that a little bit of force is required to blend the frozen fruits into ice cream; many videos try to make every process seem effortless.

    Glad I stuck around for the "after video" video. The blending of the frozen bananas and strawberries sold me. Past three I got from Amazon sucked. They can barely blend a glass of water without bogging down. I am at the mall right now and headed to Williams-Sonoma to place my order.

    I swear I bought this on impulse because it was on sale for $100. I got a 3rd through your review and cancelled it. Immersion Blenders are not meant for smoothie making. They are used for foods that are pureed and intentionally left a little Corser. Think items like hummus, creamed corn, Certain dressings, and certain vegetable purees you don't want over whipped. It's ridiculous to compare an immersion blender to a bar blender. They are two different functions.

    • @paulv69
      @paulv69 3 года назад +3

      Get a new container. If smoothies are your main use, the immersion blender won't compare to the carafe blender, even right out of the box. Plus, the blades will dull over time , especially blending frozen stuff, making it even less effective.

    This looks like it will service all the food-related functions, but.... One of the other things I use my immersion blender for is making cold processed soap. I've burned out, oh, FOUR I think, other immersion blenders, because sometimes I have to blend the oil/lye mix for 10-15 minutes to get to "trace" (a thickness roughly like yogurt).
    Will the Vitamix be hardy enough to take that "abuse"? ;-)

    As far as cleaning, 1-2 drops dishwasher soap in fairly tall cup. Dishwasher soap is "no Suds" and very concentrated. Believe me, it will be clean especially with the touch of bleach that is in most dishwasher soaps.

    Tempted by Amazon Prime day deal, 20% off. i already have an immersion blender, about 7 years old, but this doesn't seem all that different. I love my Vita Mix though, so this review helps. i think the biggest flag for me is the sharp blades. Before owning a Vita Mix, i had a Ninja, which was great... the first month. But Ninja, and most blenders, rely on sharp blades for smooth results. But, if you are blending frozen stuff like ice, mango, berries, those blades get dull pretty fast. The advantage of a Vita Mix blender is it does not rely on sharp blades, but motor strength, to produce results. Five years later, my Vita Mix makes silky smooth smoothies like the day i bought it. My thought is that the emersion blenders reliance on sharp blades buts it more in the category of a Ninja, or other blender that relies on sharp blades vs motor to get results. i am temped by the nice cream results, single serving is a big deal when you're single. Same with nut butter. Making a small quantity of nut butter in a Vita Mix blender is pretty much a no go. I've tried making it in their small 8 oz containers, doesn't work. Looks like the same issue with the immersion blender, just not enough motor to get the same silky smooth nut butters you get with the Vita Mix blender. As tempting as it is, concerned even the nice cream may get less smooth over time as blades dull.

  • @chrisreeves8037
    @chrisreeves8037 2 года назад +4

    The difference between the Immersion and the standard vitamix is the shape of the blade. The large containers have a rectangular blade Vs a sharp blade. The latter cuts the food and the rectangular smashes the molecules which make their trade mark smoothies. I believe this blade along with a powerful motor created the smoothie culture as we know it. In fact I had a spigot on my first Vitamix which would dispense ice cream like a DQ machine as those blades pushed out the sorbet mixture.

    • @cristibaluta
      @cristibaluta Год назад +1

      Exactly, it's a crap blender, one single blade can't do it all.

    A Vitamix blender has anywhere from 1000 to 1500 watts. This Vitamix immersion blender has 625 watts. A blender and an immersion blender are used for completely different things and with such a difference in watts you're going to get completely different results. A better review would be comparing different immersion blenders, not comparing a blender to an immersion blender. A well-stocked kitchen where someone cooks a lot should have both.

    Honestly a very bad review. You basically did a review of what an immersion blender is and what you could use it for but you didn’t compare it to other immersion blenders. You basically compared it to a Vitamix blender, which is fine but also it doesn’t tell whether I should pay $150 vs $30 Cuisinart hand blender which is the point of a review. Not what can a blender do vs. immersion mixer

    Always annoying watching ads, while watching product reviews. I understand WHY this happens. But it's weird, because a product review is a toned down, less biased infomercial in many cases. That's why I like channels like Gamer's Nexus, who make their money on t-shirts and such. They review a CPU, no ads :) Good review on the immersion blender though, well done.

    The level of effort involved in the ice cream demonstration makes the blender seem impractical. Also, food stuck behind the blade seems to be wasted without even more effort to recover it. Even more waste with residual food that can't be spooned out of a tall jar. All of this essentially translates into increasing the cost of your food by ~10%. In this inflationary environment where food prices are already high and going higher, why tax yourself by wasting more food that can't be recovered from behind the blade and in the base of a jar. Nice gadget but not practical for single serve when considering the cost of food.
