"Stop shooting the horse" is probably the single best piece of advice in this video. The real sign of a low level player is that kind of inflexibility and a lack of understanding of the overall picture of the game.
I'm surprised Flats didn't comment sooner on the ult, he could have won so many fights by just using it when he had teammates alive to capitalize on it. The big problem was targeting the tanks that never die, but that wouldn't have been nearly as much of a problem if he just anti'd them.
My friend recommended you and this series to me, one of the better recommendations I’ve gotten. This was such a entertaining look at the issues and problems with low ranks, including the role of tank, confirmation bias, and SHOOTING THE GODDAMN SUPPORTS INSTEAD THE TANK GETTING POCKETED BY BOTH. I was playing a game of control point where this Zarya pushed to the enemy spawn constantly and played right outside their spawn forcing our team to go with her, we won but you know that zarya was like “goddamn how am I not in masters” when she was the reason we lost point a lot of times against a much worse team
I liked the part where Flats said his classic catchphrase "stop shooting the horse!" But for real guys stop shooting Orisa, she's super hard to kill and the amount of space she can take up is pretty small compared to other tanks as she lacks mobility, her damage is mediocre, and she has no real CC outside of spearing someone into the wall. Like you don't even need to worry about her Ult just walk out of it.
Her spin's first hit also has an ungodly amount of knockback and both her spin and her spear have really low cooldowns. Her CC is pretty damn good. It's true that she's pretty horrible at taking space though. If you want to kill Orisa you kill her heals first. Though to be fair, that's how it is with most tanks right now.
Orisa has the worst ult in the game, and other than the right click, she just doesn't do anything. Good on maps with choke points where the enemies have no choice but to shoot you, bad on open maps.
You gotta love the tunnel vision, it's no wonder that people don't like to play objectives and allow their healers to get gank, and then wonder why their healers sucks at supporting.
You know a conversation that Ive heard too often in my games is that as a tank, if I try to go after dps/supports and the enemy tank does the same, my teammates just complain that the tank walked right past me. Meanwhile if I don’t put any pressure on the back line, it seems no one does and we end up losing the drawn out battle.
I haven't played OW in almost 2 years. A couple of my friends wanted to play OW2, and i hopped back in. As a fan of Orisa, I recognized *immediately* how unstoppable I am with full team support. Flats said what i didn't know how to phrase until now. If you ignored me and went for my allies, I would immediately have to abandon the offensive to try and keep them alive. "Stop Shooting The Horse" indeed dude. Though, through sheer repetition, I think I'm quite alright never hearing that again Lmao
One thing you didn't mention that I think is really important is that they almost never left the point, like ever, on both sides. Low ranked players frequently tunnel in on the objective and will never leave it and miss out on tons of picks and control because of it, huge blunder tbh.
Noticed that a lot in lower elo.. No matter what both tanks will only focus one another. So usually it becomes a pick dif or a dps/sup did and which ever tank dies first. Usually that teams just rolls the rest as they trickle in or all run away (but hardly anyone soft resets in lower elo) usually just a chal to the death. Lol
As a fellow bad player I have to stand up for the idea of saying "idk maybe I was bad maybe my team was bad". We are so bad that we genuinely have no idea why we aren't playing our best sometimes. After a game reflection goes "I feel like I played really well why didn't we win, maybe I didn't get healed or something?" and then I check the stats and everyone seems as though they are doing well by the numbers so I just assume we are all really bad (the real answer).
Flats, I strongly recommend getting a bronze account and truly experiencing it. In OW1, I was bronze until almost the end of its lifespan. Yeah, his tank play was hot trash, but you don't understand bronze playstyle. Team breakdown (90% accurate, I was born in it, molded by it) My duo partner plays Rein - Hyper aggro, big plays, ults when he's alone for zero value (never blocks the enemy shatter, granted he's single-handedly won us games before) The other tank that just feeds the enemy ult charge That one dps that shouldn't be in bronze That other dps that just should be lower than bronze or queue something else I played lucio/moira, mained lucio. The other healer that doesn't heal the team and is constantly running off to 1v6, spamming chat about "where's my team" The trickle in strategy; I yell at my friend to stop 1v6'ing, he hits "group up" The one dps that shouldn't be bronze groups up, the other 3 are running off spawn to "touch point or we'll lose" constantly leaving us down a healer and tank and dps (though as above, the second dps is useless 9/10 times, as is the other tank) This leads to someone deciding everyone else but them is throwing, which starts the next strategy... The "You're all trash, I'm throwing" strategy; This one is my favorite. It happened every single game. All the time. Without fail. Its ALWAYS the worst dps. Always. I've never seen a healer or tank do it. Its always the other dps. This spirals into loss of morale and circles back into The Trickle in Strat. Closing thoughts; During the push from bronze to gold, I realized a few things. 1. Lack of confidence to make those plays, will cause a loss every time. 2. I really don't understand lucio's speed boost. 3. When someone angrily says "swap" you don't swap. Because 9/10 times, that person is the reason we're losing. 4. I lack the confidence to make big plays, but when I do, I realize I'm a half decent player and need to chill out. 5. No matter how bad you think your game-sense is, there is always someone completely unaware that they are playing a team game. I pray none of you ever see bronze. That's actually good advice for every tank over there. In OW1 main tanks were mainly focused on enemy main tank and now where we have only 1 tank we should play more like off-tank all the time and focus backline more. P.S. As a Zarya main It didn't change my playstyle a lot but I feel like all those Rein mains will need some time to get used.

this guy's like "oh their tank's dead, my job's done." he doesn't go for the backline after the tank dies because he doesn't have the confidence to actually hit the smaller targets.
8:45 This is also why people shoot the horse, because too often (especially in these ranks) the supports just decide that you don't need healing anymore and you get abandoned to die.

This is that annoying tank that yells how everyone else sucks and points to their stats while completely ignorant of the fact that they added absolutely no value. This is one of those tanks that need to unbind their 'S' key.
brand new player here, like 8 hours total in game, never played OW1. I play JQ pretty much identically to this person but I actually play a bit more aggressive. I don't play ranked though. Glad I seem to be playing her somewhat correctly though.
After 134 hours of support i can say for certain that you can predict whose ready to hold W as soon as that first fight hits and it’s still satisfying. Like helping someone jumpstart a car for them and seeing the appreciation hit them.
Genuine question here.. Is the key take away here, aside from "stop shooting the horse" simply to ignore the opposing tank, in most match ups tank vs. tank? W into their backline, at least trying to kill the squishies. Forcing them out of position at least.
For the most part, yes. If the tank is just being pocketed, they aren't dying. Your efforts would be better spent focusing on the squishies. Do take this with a grain of salt as I'm a Silver 3 Brig main who can't play other supports to save my life.
As a bronze player myself, I think I can shed some light on why you see so much "shooting the horse" in bronze. Bronze players aren't good, this much is known. That's the obvious reason number 1. But also, I've seen in quite a few games, bronze tanks getting flamed for "abandoning their teams" when they do what you suggested, and walk past the enemy tank to go into the enemy backline. Cuz what happens is, they simply get tank diffed. They get slept, anti'd, discorded, etc, and feed 1v4, while the enemy tank they ignored 1v4's their team. Kinda like in OW1 with Reins that had sticky shift keys just charge in 1v6. Tanks learned that leaving the safety of their team is not always the best idea, so bronze engagements end up being this long, drawn out, back and forth where the tanks butt heads in the front, the supports hard pocket them, and the dps either focus the enemy tank, or try to flank and get a pick on the back line. Then, once one team has an advantage, the fight swings. It's honestly quite odd and quite funny to watch. But that's mostly how the bronze meta goes down.
I'm new to your channel and new to OW (OW2 is the first time I've played OW) and I haven't seen anyone else do these spectating reviews, love them. They are super insightful and entertaining.

Hey never saw your videos before I just started playing overwatch again after not touching it since launch, a lot has changed and that tip about how the overhealth can't be heal helped a lot! I'm definitely sticking around
The amount of matches i lose to my entire team trying to kill Orisa. I need flats in my games yelling stop shooting the horse
This is that annoying tank that yells how everyone else sucks and points to their stats while completely ignorant of the fact that they added absolutely no value. This is one of those tanks that need to unbind their 'S' key.
“Still Shooting the Horse, Stop shooting the Horse” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
brand new player here, like 8 hours total in game, never played OW1. I play JQ pretty much identically to this person but I actually play a bit more aggressive. I don't play ranked though. Glad I seem to be playing her somewhat correctly though.
"Stop shooting the horse" on repeat is now my right tone
After a certain point "Stop shooting the horse" became Flats beating a dead horse.
Horse counter: ITS OVER 9000!!!!! XD
Spectating bronze just hits dify
This video should've been called JunkerQueens horse hunting adventures
I saw gold gun, I was a Bronze Junker Queen once, then I saw the name, which almost sold me
legend has it the Junker Queen is still shooting the horse
"pumping up the damage numbers so it looks like it isn't your fault" what a 5head piece of advice
I love how despite this being bronze, there are so many issues here that persist outside of bronze too
You think they'd take your tip to stop shooting the tank but neigh
I'm new to your channel and new to OW (OW2 is the first time I've played OW) and I haven't seen anyone else do these spectating reviews, love them. They are super insightful and entertaining.
Check out iostux. He's a professional OW coach and does reviews like this, but with the person on voice chat with him. He hasn't posted one for OW2 yet, but even the old OW1 coaching vids are massively helpful.
i think if ur that low elo you genuinely don't know what the rest of your team is doing and if they were doing good/bad. also, this series is both funny and helped me learn so i hope you continue doing it
what im learning from this video is to stop shooting the horse
horseplay : noun
horse·play | \ ˈhȯrs-ˌplā \

Hey in case you guys didn't know...."STOP SHOOTING THE HORSE!!!!!!"
s t o p s h o o t i n g t h e h o r s e
Legend says they are still shooting the horse
I know this series has some… baggage. But it’s genuinely my favourite overwatch content to watch Flats. Thank you very much!
If I was horse of course, was horse of course, I would be the famous Mr ED.
“Wow actually good job disengaging”
*Pops ult* WHAEUDHAJAHAAAAA
Flats: "STOP SHOOTING THE HORSE"
Queen: "So anyway I started horsin'"
This Junker Queen is doing what a lot of people in low ranks of Overwatch do, even before Overwatch 2; watching the game they are in.
" stop shooting the horse "
Is a phrase I need to learn
