Mercy sitting on the payload: "I have mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still that I become invisible to the eye"
it is 600 sr enemy team are usually t-rexes only react when you get literally in front of them.
i mean, at this rank you can literally walk up and use the sit emote on top of a deployed bastion and they won't notice you unless you use some voice lines.
Lmao, XDDD nice quote drax. hahahaaha LOL

It's so bronze that it's actually a top 500 play.
As a mercy main, 100% accurate we get off to blastering a widow back to the depths of hell
We get high to that shit
If no one else will do it, we'll do it ourselves!
Sitting on their heads, killing them and they're confused. Hell yeah
100% true

21:37 The Sombra not killing a point blank Junkrat who's standing still in his ult is frankly impressive.
When I saw this I yelped
i don’t think you noticed but in that shirt amount of time of his ult she was reloading
@@leivnya5225 Yeah I noticed, but she only reloaded because she missed like a entire clip on him right before (and continued to miss part of the next clip). Even with Lucio and Mercy healing the Junk, it's impressive to not even get him low if he's ignoring you.
Junkrat just leaving gives off big gigachad energy
@@Oliver.Pfahl. More like moronchad energy. Only reason he survived that was pure incompetence + luck.
I have a feeling this Mercy was told "PUSH THE CART, STAY ON CART" constantly when attacking which resulted in the idea that "I must never leave cart or else I am not contributing to the team". But yeah, as a Mercy player if you stop moving you will die (or at least, even if you die while moving around it won't always be your fault), so I agree with everyone else and just never stop moving around. This goes for most OW heroes as well.
not even a mercy tactic, if you stand still on literally anything you're just asking to die instantly. same reason pharah ulting usually means suicide.
And for some reason at low levels playing past cart is a foreign idea and we must battle on the cart.
@@devinaschenbrenner2683 I sometimes have to do it without even being told, for that reason. When my team sets up too far in front of the cart after winning a fight, I get wary about someone trying to C9 and can't help but stick close even if I'm more removed from the team.
@@ccricers there's nothing wrong with A team mate baby sitting Cart, but what I can't stand is there are times it's Advantageous to push further up to more favorable terrain to fight.
Unfortunately, this Mercy has probably been told by their Diamond friends "Sit on cart" just to make sure they're out of the way of the actual fights. Because the Diamond players wouldn't be fighting on the cart like Bronze
Yep... my cracked friends just want me to stay on the cart so they can push. And when I play comp solo everyone abandons the cart

@@siray66 that's no fun :/ bad friends
Doubt it. Bronze in general has a HUGE fixation on the objective, to the point that people at the very bottom wil literally throw their bodies on it off cooldown. It keeps getting perpetuated by memes and dumb takes on reddit. People in bronze think that the cart is the goal of the game, so you need to be on it, always.
It kinda feels like this person was told "yeah just stay near cart and heal" and they took that very literally.
Back in my day, when I was new as mercy I did whatever my team told me to do because I was not familiar with the game and was afraid of letting my team die. This grows on you for awhile but when you figure out the basics; it's not just you that keeps the match alive but your team. Overwatch is a Team Based Shooter.
Never stop moving as Mercy. Not once. If you see their Mercy not moving? Destroy them. Also, a large part of this weirdly felt like the camera was drifting more to the floor than the horizon or slightly higher. There is no hero who will come out of the ground, so keeping the view a little higher will help awareness as well as movement.
I now all of a sudden feel the need for some sort of tunneling or burrowing hero in OW2 now!
Never stop moving as anything period except for a DPS player who can only be shot by Mercy, Rein, and Dva at a distance. Then standing still is literally a boost to their aim with no downside.
OK but the way I want a mole-type hero now. There's gotta be some sentient moles in Junkertown, right??
ok but fr a hero that could dig through the ground and pop out somewhere else would be so cool to see
“there is no hero who will come out of the ground” just made my day that was so funny to me
the mercy practically looking at the ground the entire time made my tummy hurt

It's a common thing with people who lack confidence. I've definitely had to train myself out of that habit. I tend to look downward a lot irl. It's also easier to get in a habit of if a Mercy does not GA often.

@@jackmeister4354 I personally find Lucios much harder to get and kill than Mercys in my elo (low plat), there's something I kind of find... Dunno, hard to predict with their movement I guess ?

I had an ana in random heroes that would not heal me as a winston despite being nearly dead and standing right next to them yelling for some healing

PSA: the game doesn't advertise it very well, but there is a training mode that lets you group with others to fight against an AI team. You can even select from three difficulty modes. If you are brand new to shooters (which this Mercy seems to be) please try out that mode.
absolutely! never played a shooter game in my life before ow2, and that practice mode against ai helped me gain confidence in what i was doing and practice aiming. it also helps to understand character skills
The game actually advertises well when your new. The game tells to to play the tutorial the go to the practice range and then finally play an ai game before it wants you to play against humans

THANK YOU, FLATS! Finally, someone who said what all of us support players wanted to hear from someone like you. Support is not a fucking easy role and Mercy is NOT an easy hero!
Ehhh I wouldn’t just say she’s not easy. More easy to play but hard to master. Big skill ceiling on mercy.
problem is not that you can't be fucking nuts with these characters, it's that you can be absolute gargabe and still function (as seen in this replay). compared to that sombra that was shooting point blank at the ulting junkrat and couldn't kill him because they were somehow missing, this is not an issue for mercy or others that require zero or near-zero tracking.
skill floors shouldn't be this high in any character.
@@BattousaiHBr nah high skill floors/ceilings are a draw to some people. Even if they’re coasting by playing the, even though they are garbage, they won’t climb much at all. The ranking system is pretty good at recognizing where we all belong.
Mercy may have easy tracking but a lot of other people easily out heal that easy to do healing. Mercy is fine.
She's not easy at high level play but she's a magnet for people who are shit at the game because they don't even need to aim which is why you see so many mercys who never pull the pistol out or damage boost. Sometimes they barely move at all.
Heavy disagree. Healers are easy to play. I play all the roles pretty equally and healer is by far the easiest to do well with. You don't have to be amazing to be effective/useful. They have a very low skill floor, but a very high skill ceiling.
Flats: “you should be dead”

the way mercy was standing there and was literally close enough to see dva's asscheeks through the spandex has me absolutely losing it... manifesting this kind of luck for myself in a game soon
1 small thing, when attached to an Invisible Sombra, the beam fades away after a short distance from the enemy's perspective. It does give her general location away tho but it isn't directly connected as the mercy's perspective sees it.

The thing I got mad at most was how they had their crossair constantly at a 30 degree downward angle, so barely anything could be seen. If I was looking at the ground all game, I'd probably be lost too.
As a mercy player movement is incredibly important. I think this mercy would do well after watching a few mercy tutorials! Super jump might be good to start learning. Though movement is best to learn, especially learning when to damage boost.
From my own experience I always switch between heal and damage boost in valk and you always damage boost the player that has the best view of the other team
i think she needs to learn a lil more before moving onto superjump

UPDATE: For all those asking - I'm no longer bronze, I'm now gold in support. It's been great to finally climb, and I haven't dropped from gold.
ORIGINAL EDIT:
Oh boy, knew this was coming. Hi, this is my VOD. I started playing Overwatch in June of this year. I have never played an FPS game so I have no experience. I'm definitely learning. All the points he made are valid. I absolutely deserve low SR, I have improved slightly. I'm definitely working on self preservation and not doing dumb rezes. I'm currently taking a break from OW and doing some research and hitting the aim trainer. Hopefully I'll get a higher rank in OW2 after some practice. Thanks again for the roast!
P.S. Dragoon is the best skin and I'll die on this hill
As I'm seeing lots of comments along these lines, yes, I have unfortunately gotten in the habit of clinging to the payload, it's something I'm working to fix. In bronze people very rarely push the cart so it's almost always support on the cart to try and get point
@@siray66 im by no means the best mercy player but i have some experience and while i dont really remember much from when i started playing i do know it took me a while to get used to everything and learn from my mistakes. a lot of the issues here are just from lack of experience (not knowing/reacting to ultimates, not understanding your job as support and/or mercy etc etc) that you will eventually learn from as you become more familiar with the game :) some tips i think you should try incorporating into your gameplay as mercy in the meantime:
1. always use cover no matter what EVEN IN VALK!! you don’t have to fly up when valking - dont give your enemies a chance to kill you (this is especially important when playing against snipers like widow and hanzo)
2. avoid being a healbot - i noticed you tended to heal allies who were full health a majority of the match and only used damage boost a handful of times, get into the habit of switching to damage boost as soon as you get them to full health
3. always prioritize your own life above anyone else. if you notice your teammate alone in the middle of the entire enemy team, don’t fly to them and get yourself killed too. this goes for res as well: it may work in low bronze but i promise you resurrecting in front of a reinhardt will only result in death in higher ranks. remember the 1st tip and always try to find any cover you can when using res and if you think its too risky or that you will probably die then it’s usually not worth it
4. alwayskeepmoving.
sorry for the essay but i hope this helps even a little! good luck climbing ❤️
@@ailuroses thank you for the tips!
As a mercy main with over 400 hours on her here’s some tips for them.
Learn to move around more between your team, you should never be standing still or even walking slowly in the open only in hard cover. Hop around like a bunny while still using hard cover as much as possible.
Blue beam your dps!!! You don’t have to heal everyone to full heath constantly. Mercy should almost never have gold healing lol unless you have a zen / lucio as your 2nd support. Even then mercy isn’t the correct pick along with them. You give so much more value to your team if you boost your dps. Boost dps = Quicker ult charge which could make a team fight.
Also pull out the blaster more often, if your team is full and a dps is trying to chase you don’t be scared of them fight back especially in valk as you can escape easily if you need to!
Great advice! As a plat support I cannot agree more about positioning and movement. Constantly moving is what makes mercy a fun pick and not doing so defines her as a "boring character"
I have to say, as a Zen player, I love Mercy / Zen. If the Mercy is actively damage boosting (I had a cracked Mercy even boosting me yesterday on Hollywood) and you have a semi self sufficient tank and DPS, it's a winner. It may be more viable the higher you climb though since your team has to understand theres no burst healing for then.
i will say though, as a silver support, in the lower ranks mercy will probably have gold healing 99.9% of the time. damage boosting is obviously useful, yes, but getting value out of it also depends on the teammate you’re boosting being good-which isn’t as reliable in the lower ranks. i don’t think saying “mercy should never have gold healing” is necessarily correct for bronze/silver/low gold.
then again, i’m not a mercy main. but i am a lucio main who somehow always ends up with gold healing even when i’m speed boosting half the game.
@@thisisforaclass6919 I love mercy zen when it works, it’s so much damage and harmony orb works great for a mobile mercy who shoves the blue beam down everyone’s throat (I am said mercy🌝)
I find doing the mercy parkour maps help with mobility and positioning since some teach you how to do them consistently.
As someone who started after my friends, I had to choose to play competitive separately because they had taught me the fundamentals of the game, and they were just plain wrong. Without them I climbed and they stayed where they were because they refused to accept another POV. I also of course caught shit because I climbed as mercy and they consider that a no skill role, as does majority of the plat and under section of the community. There is nothing I respect more on any role than an unkillable, evasive, slippery mercy.
5:49 I am fairly certain they were attempting to rez the Junkrat, but the cart pushed forward and blocked it, so they decided to just go back to healing.
The fact that I didn’t see the blue beam once killed me
@Flats at 5:42 what was so confusing? The JunkRat died and she was hiding behind the payload waiting for her rez to be off CD to rez him. Mei threw in her ULT so she had to bail. Maybe not the greatest idea but thats what was happening.
Pulling the glock out on a Widow really is a wet dream 🤣 Also going for the enemy Mercy / Pharah in Valk.
Hard to do without a good deadline but damn satisfying to lead the shots.
As a Pharah player the absolute worst experience is being locked in Barrage animation and then notice how the valking Mercy slowly turns around in your direction and dropping their attention on allies. That split second of "of for fucks sake she's about to go for me isn't she?" And there's no chance in hell barrage will ever hit her matrix ass valk hitbox XD
@@Real_MisterSir Oi, can't outheal a barrage, so might as well yatata.

I feel this hard. I’m a pharah too and these days whenever I play mercy, I do the same thing due to the PTSD that damn glock has given me lmao
11:00 It was actually confirmed by Blizzard that it was supports in Diamond or above that were dying up to 15% more in OW2 compared to the lower ranks. These are the support players who don't healbot and do exactly this. Supports were genuinely more difficult (and felt bad) to play
That's because DPS & Tanks in Plat & below can't aim. Lol
i agree with linx here. i’m only a masters ana/mercy player but it felt significantly less satisfying to play either in OW2. i’m used to the APM requirements of ana, and the high-speed playstyle mercy utilizes to be effective, but it genuinely just felt overwhelming in ow2. at least as ana and mercy, high level ow2 feels like it requires multitasking and min maxing of your kit that neither dps nor tank need to do in order to play competently at the same level. i will say though, ow2 lucio felt engaging and fun to me for the first time ever, and i think kiriko is going to fit ow2’s style so much better than the current state of the majority of the support class as it stands.
it’s a kit differential, and i hope ana and mercy have a chance to fit in to ow2 the way they do in ow1. i’ve played mercy since ow1 beta and ana since release. i’d be so sad to see both of them fall behind in the support roster.
(i’ll also be stoked to not have to fight against muscle memory when mercy’s superjump rework is finally polished too. this might have colored my experience with the beta, so i’m disclosing that)
@@vedhil Baptiste used to be healer I love to see, but with OW2 I hate seeing him right now lol. Because his playstyle feels so great for juicing up two big tanks and absolutely horrendous for trying to heal a bunch of chaotic dps around the whole map.
22:23 The other team's Soldier 76 stood at that doorway for a longer duration than this Mercy did on cart.
Definitely needs to damage boost more. Valk for me is mainly used for that purpose. Besides Orisa’s bongo, there really isn’t another ability that lets you boost your whole team. But also I can understand why they don’t, because that would mean your team would actually need to do damage. Or trust your other support to heal. If it’s an aim based support, they’re likely to miss most of their shots. If anything, lower elo gives you trust issues.

You can always instruct to push the payload too if you're busy with your dps rolling everyone up ahead. It's realistically a team responsibility anyway.
Unless you're literally the only one keeping the overtime going and you walking away would look like what Shanghai did on Dorado in 2019 :D
Another thing that might be helpful is realizing mercy's beam stays connected even if you're not looking at who you're healing or boosting. You could be healing/boosting while looking behind you to check for flanks, looking at your other teammates to see who needs help next, watching the enemies and paying attention to ults and cooldowns. Just looking around will generally help with awareness and reaction time. You don't need to follow and stare at your teammate while you heal them.
This person is a prophet. They saw the healing pylon in the future and tried to communicate their discovery to the rest of us
One time I bubbled an invisible sombra when my rein moved out of the way. I have never felt worse about my actions.
Turns out she's been there all along.
This mercy is just Drax, staying so still that she becomes invisible. notice how the second she moved away from the cart she died.
seeing this as a high rank mercy hurts my soul, because all I want to do is help this poor person achieve their full mercy potential
My first thing I would tell this Mercy to work onis 3 things: Don't go near the objectives, always hug natural cover like walls (don't trust shields), and learn your max beam range and try to always be at max beam range. If you don't know where to stand, find a wall.
Staying on payload and yellow beaming full hp players is driving me insane
Not gonna lie, this Mercy gameplay reminds me a lot of how a lot of people would probably play Medic in Team Fortress 2. Not having played Overwatch myself, the fact that there is a lot of difference between the support classes of Overwatch and of those in Team Fortress 2 is really interesting to me. (Obviously there's differences, but I've never been in-tune with OW enough to know them super well lol)
Yes, this is basically the average TF2 Medic (with a disappointing lack of ubercharge building) rolled up with a sneaky kart spy (without the backstabbing).
A good rule of thumb is to let Ana sit on the cart and heal you as you swirl and twirl around the battlefield... Ana/Mercy is my fave support duo ever.
I actually cheered when I saw them pull out the glock for the first time. like "YES YES YES! F*CKING FINALLY!"

For Siray66 one suggestion is practice to get comfortable switching the beam quickly between heal/dmg during play, and try to split the time closer to say 50/50 on each. Kind of more like dmg is the default mode and flip over to heal when you see someone needs it. One way to flip modes fast is press both mouse buttons then release one button to toggle the mode.
I actually do that for healing, I never thought about doing it the opposite way! I'll definitely try that
A few advice for beginners on Mercy which will make you more active in game and/or lower the size of the target on your back:
- When you see several teammates critical, don't pick one, heal them full, then change. Change all the time (especially Ana or Mercy who can heal only one at a time) to heal them a little very fast to make them survive until fight is won or lost. A tank beginning to be critical still has more hp than a crit supp or dps.
- You dont need to look at who you're healing/dbing. Their health bar is visible on your screen even if you turn around, so put your beam on them, then turn around to target the next ally to help. You can even GA to someone else before your current target is full health, as beam will break around 1 second after reaching max range, and it will make you move more frequently so more difficult to target for enemy team while still helping an ally.
- Overall, tunnel vision as Mercy is your worst enemy, even more than the enemy itself. If you always look around, you know who you need to help, and at this elo, as players might miss critical shots, you have time to go help them before they die. Pay attention to "I need healing" and sound cues from your other supp. When they start taking damage, they make a pain sound or say something, so when you hear that, you can react and help them right away.
- Dont be where your team is. They're close to cart? Stand close to a wall, dbing or healing at beam max range, it will make you avoid (or at least easier to survive) most of ults (Tire, Grav, Flux, ...). It's even more true in Valk as your beam length and GA reach is doubled. Walls are your best friends! Unlike shields, they will never break so love them, and they will love you back and protect you.
- An easy reflex to have to help with db at the beginning is to switch to db once your ally is full hp. Even if it's half a second, it will help and you'll eventually learn when to db allies when it's most important. DPS are priority targets to DB, try to identify the most active one and db them, but dont go out of position for them (like a tracer or genji living in enemy's backline begging for heals, ignore).
That's all for now, for beginners I think it's already a lot to remember and apply in game. ^^" Hope it will help!
1:45 Unlike Zarya bubbles that are a dead giveaway, Mercy beam will not connect all the way to an invisible sombra, it fades out, the enemy team can't see it. It will alert them that there's a Sombra in the area, but not the exact location
This mercy game play will improve once they realize they are a support and not a healer. You can support through healing but you are not limited to healing. And by that one change of mindset it makes a difference.
Back when deathmatch came out for arcade I would regularly play Mercy. It was so satisfying. Helped my regular play as well.
So I’m a mercy main atm and I had this video running in the background, while I played solitare. When I heard him tell the mercy to go play solitare I just started bursting out laughing. The timing was too perfect.
This is the video that introduced me to you, Flats. And I've been hooked ever since. New OW player with around 50 hours to my belt, but watching these videos really help heighten my awareness. :D
Haven't even watched it yet...but I know as meerly a gold level player that supports usually cart sit because other players are to busy chasing enemy players to worry about the payload
I was gold now Plat and I can say that one time a zen was with the tanks leaving me on the cart alone -_-
That literally happened to me a few times. Once, when I was on tank, 2 of us were dead but we were winning the fight. So the other 4 teammates pushed up basically to defender spawn. The cart didn't start moving again until I went through a full respawn countdown and ran to it. The lucio who died just before I did, did not wait for me and just wall rode away to join the rest of the team so I had to slowly sigma float to point. Had to be around 30 seconds of 0 progress, luckily the enemy team was just as dog so nobody died during that time and I slowly pushed cart to the checkpoint completely uncontested.
That doesn’t matter, if ur team is up just go help them and get the cart after the team fight
@@curse4384 i once won a team fight on kings row all the way to second point...only for us to realize we didnt have cart the entire time so we fell back to cart...and then we ended up not getting second point...
@@kaiseremotion854 99% of the time the reason u win a teamfight overextending is bc of positioning
I will never forget getting potg as mercy when I was newer to the game, I had an ana nano me by accident and I popped valk and tore out a 4k with my glock (one including a high nooning cass) and that was my ow peak.
The second round of this video had me crying laughing with how much is going on and nobody is dying, I could seriously watch it all day
Of all the spectating videos you've done so far this one was probably the hardest to watch for me. My blood pressure was pretty high watching him hold left click the entire game.
And here I was, thinking I'm a healbot whenever I play Mercy but it seems like I'm actually doing alright, I guess 😅
6:20 YOU PUT IT INTO THE MOST PERFECT WORDS!!!
I did once solo valk a widow because I thought that she teabagged my widow. Then I just spawn camped her the rest of the game. My widow even popped infrasite for me to spawn camp her
i love that these spectatings have been more educational as of late to prepare the bronzes for climbing in ow2 :D
1:00 wooot legend of dragoon is called a smelly lizard? shame on flats
1:40 I always have to chuckle when I see Zarya bubbling an invisible Sombra xD Looks just funny seeing the empty bubble running around ^^
Also, the Mercy might have just watched too much Stylosa xD "Valk is a throwaway ult" ^^
To be fair, the number of times I committed to flying up into the open air as Echo or Mercy just as an enemy Soldier used his ult...is more than once.
Most players: 'Overwatch is TDM and I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this cart.'
This Mercy: 'This cart is mine, I own this cart. No one will take my baby from me!'
Awesome advice and tips in this video. Thank you so much ❤
I would have them check to see if they have the mercy setting on where your GA priorities whoever you’re beaming, that could be why their movement is messed up.
thats a setting?!
@@kaiseremotion854 Yee. On Mercy settings specifically if that wasn't obvious. Since you're a Flats enjoyer, I doubt it needed saying, but felt like covering the bases
Yeah, during the stream chat gave me some super helpful tips and I immediately changed the setting :)
@@SomeKindaHero117 i knew the lucio one, didnt realize that mercy has a specific setting, which one is it?
@@kaiseremotion854 Options -> Controls -> Mercy -> Hero (Right under Reticle) -> Guardian Angel Target Priority
Obviously in "wood league" where nobody can aim, standing still and running in a straight line at your opponent keeps you safe! LOL!
Thank you for another great video, catch you in the next one
THANK YOU FLATS!! say it louder for the people in the back, I main support and tank and it’s frustrating when I see healers complain about dying and when they don’t shoot the other team, if you are dying to a one on one that’s your problem we gonna start adapting that call duty battlefield mindset of killing
Mercy advice from Silver player but first a map.
[ENEMY SPAWN]
Front/Forward
^^^^^^
Left Flank [MAIN] Right Flank
^^^^^^^
Back
[ALLY SPAWN]
- If you have Line of Sight (LOS) with the enemy, youre in danger and need to move to cover.
- When you're team is fighting at a chokepoint, dont hang in back, instead go to one of the sides of the choke and alternate between facing your flank and the opposite flank.
You'll break LOS with the enemy,
Be closer to ally DPS for heals,
And be able to keep eyes on MAIN to support your tanks.
edit: After seeing another vid, when I say look around I don't mean randomly.
Who you prioritize will depend on your partner support. If you're with high output healers like Baptiste, Ana, or a supportive Lucio or Moira, the prioritize your DPS and partner healer. If you're with an aggressive Moira, Lucio, or Zenny, then pocket youre Tanks and prioritize main.
I rarely play Mercy but one time I got potg and it started with me blasting a widow away, it was very satisfying
im sorry but flats really does have like. the skin equivalent of a toddler’s palate
Agree 💯 🔥
The skin is ugly tho get over it
6:42 as a mercy player I can confirm it is indeed a wet dream and also as a widow player whenever I see a mercy in valk charge at me I run in pure terror
Played Overwatch hard few years ago and just getting back into it, i respect anyone who plays Mercy, one of the most op characters and best team picks imo and shows how valuable supports are
lowkey impressive mercy play by doing the unexpected and being AFK lmao
I could imagine a Cassidy clicking all around her frame expecting her to strafe but she's just like on the cart 🧍♀️
i just don't understand why people who are new to the game and are still learning the basics go straight to ranked, instead of just learning in quick play? there's no sr you'll lose in quick play, but i guess some people don't really care about rank?
your friends only play ranked, so you have to too
I can understand this sentiment but Quick play games often feel even more like a fustercluck than ranked with no comms
My friends only play comp so I usually end up with them. I usually play qp solo for practice but eventually I go back to comp out of sheer routine
There's a pretty low ceiling on how much you can really learn in qp and if you do it too long you'll end up with a lot of terrible habits that need to be broken before you can keep improving
@@siray66 if you're having fun with friends, then comp is definitely worth it even if you lose a bit of sr in the process lol. it's only a game after all
mans is actually telling the only one pushing to stay away from cart on a payload gamemode
5:44 They thought rez was off cooldown so they were going to the Junkrat soul, it wasn't off cooldown yet (still 2-3 seconds). Then Mei Ult so they had to dip instead.
I think it would be more helpful if you got in depth about ~why~ mercy needs to make these decisions and helping them get into the headspace they need to be in. I feel like telling people what to do will just make them a sitting duck when you’re not around bc they don’t know why you told them to do what they had to do in the first place
Lovely video as always, Flats! And I wanted to give some tips, too. I'm not a pro Mercy t500 but I've played her for years (especially recently since my nicer mouse broke and I'm on a dollar store one, lol) and I think siray66 has potential.
DAMAGE BOOST: if your team is full hp, dmg boost!
WHY: dmg boost can help turn the tide of teamfights, especially in lower ranks where the enemy mercy might not utilize it at all.
WHO: dps, for example junkrat, widow, mccree, soldier, even backline harassers like tracer can be fine sometimes. tanks can sometimes be good dmg boosts too, like hog when he hooks someone in. if you see your dps or tank engaging, especially on a low dmg target, boost them to secure the kill!
MOVEMENT: mercy's movement is one of the best of all the supports. her cooldown for guardian angel is VERY low, so always keep moving.
WHY: a sitting duck mercy is an easy target. she is very slippery when you keep flying from dps to dps, high ground to low ground. always be vigilant, look for flankers and escapes, keep track of where your teammates are.
HOW: familiarize yourself with mercy's various techs using mercy parkour maps! guardian angel, slingshotting, superjumps, stopping GA early, etc. you ALWAYS want to be doing SOMETHING on mercy, and you should be pushing up with your dps, not sitting on cart, that way they can be dmg boosted and keep sending enemies to the spawn room.
BLASTER: use her pistol! if you see an enemy support or dps standing perfectly still, quickly whip it out and try to secure an elim. even if they only get to low hp, your dps may finish them off or they have to retreat to cover to heal up. i have forced back many flank dps by engaging them in the 1v1 and forcing them to retreat or risk dying to secure the elim on me.
POSITIONING: mercy's beam allows her to position more safely than other supports, since it'll remain locked onto a target for a good second or two even if you round a corner. you can also attach a beam to your dps on high ground, for example anubis gate 1st point, fly to them but stop GA short, fall a bit, then keep flying back up without ever landing on TOP of the gate. that way you remain behind cover but in distance for your beam to stay attached.
WHY: standing in the open isn't good, unless you want to get headshot. always look for cover, use the terrain to your advantage!
HOW: attach your beam, say to a dps at hanamura point a's gate. if they push past the gate, you can quickly peek to get line of sight on them then hide again to refresh the beam and keep it from detaching, while also keeping the cover of the gigantic wall. ALWAYS watch and listen for flankers (enemy footsteps are louder than teammates!!), and be ready to pivot and fly to a teammate to reposition in a moment's notice!
AWARENESS: keeping track of your teammates' health, enemies' health, positions of teammates for flypaths, keeping track of enemy ultimates and having a general sense of what's going on around you is critical to playing mercy with maximum efficiency. is your ana being flanked in the backline? is your dps flanking around to set up a big ultimate? being aware and vigilant is necessary!
VALKYRIE: mercy's ultimate is an engage ult. don't bother ulting if your team is dying ; that'll just be a wasted ultimate. her chain heal is strong, but if everyone is critical and they have good dmg, they're all going to die. if your team is pushing in, valk dmg boost to help them take point. if an enemy mercy valks her team in, wait a few seconds if it's viable to do so and THEN pop your ult to counter-valk. those extra few seconds of chain dmg boost/healing after hers has ended CAN make a difference in fights!
RES: always try to res behind cover, be that the payload, a wall, a prop on the map, etc.
WHY: res can turn the tides of a fight, especially if you res a teammate with an ultimate ready! always press tab to see which teammate has what ult to quickly decide if it's better to res a rein with earthshatter or a soldier 80% to visor.
HOW: res wisely! is it a 5v5 and are your teammates low? is it a 2v6? sometimes waiting a moment before resing to heal teammates first is a better idea. if you're greatly outnumbered, don't res! fall back and regroup instead of resing someone to just die again. you can also bait the enemy team into thinking you're going for the res. look at your dead teammate, act like you're going to fly to them. the enemy dps will be looking to punish this. i have started GA to a res target then stopped short, distracting the dps from the main team fight onto myself. when they notice i didn't res, they're forced to focus back onto the teamfight that's ensuing instead, THEN i go in for the res. i only do this when the corpse is more so on my team's side ; don't try to go into the enemy's backline and do this! also, learn to superjump res. people in lower ranks will be confused and not look up half the time when you spring up over their heads to secure the res.
Oh my goodness this is perfect. This is going in my notes for when I come back to Overwatch. Thank you so much for the tips and kind words! I've literally never played an FPS game before so any tips I really appreciate
@@siray66 You're so welcome!! Mercy is a GREAT support pick for 1st time players because of her flexibility. She allows you to learn the game without being massively punished if your aim/positioning isn't that good since her beam locks on and you can fly away to reposition on a whim. I'm definitely not a pro, so I for higher ranked Mercy players I recommend Niandra, AquaBoost, and even ML7 has done some Mercy content, and he's also just an amazing supp to watch in general. OW was my first FPS too, so it takes awhile to adapt, but you'll get better!
Also I forgot a CRITICAL part of Mercy: PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR OTHER SUPPORT'S ULT CHARGE!!! Don't siphon all the healing away from them via tanks and deny them that ult charge! Mercy should primarily be focused on healing/dmg boosting the dps, but if your main support is lagging behind or struggling to keep the tanks healed, it's fine to help them. Always be aware of what your other supp's ult % is at. if they're ready to ult? sure, heal the tanks and get yourself some charge. Nothing is more irritating than a mercy holding M1 on a tank and taking all that ult charge away from me when I play ana, because then when we engage i don't have nano (as an example).
@@hanicakes that's a great tip, our poor ana was definitely deprived of ult charge this round
Clearly this player just knows the new meta is turret mercy
Since Sira is still at row ranks, I know, that healing matters more than utility since no one knows how to survive. So that their teammates would panic the moment they get low. So being a heal bot as a start is not that bad. (not to mention going Battle Mercy with no kill, will get them bullied eventually. They better get used to Mercy's projectile shots before.) However, if they ever read this, just once a teammate reaches full health, flick the right click for like a sec. This way you are "boosting", so you get used to Mercy's kit by switching between two beams little by little.
I also noticed they barely used GA at many occasions, and when they do, it's to reach a hopeless teammate which might get them killed.
While using Valk, stay low, flying to heaven won't save you, and stay next to a cover because no one knows when a Visor might pop up.
Great video as always Flats, thank you
Thank you so much! That's my biggest thing in bronze, I am still finding the balance between healing and dmg boosting. Definitely working on not healing full teammates 🙃
Ok I’m actually getting annoyed with this mercy, use damage boost my guy!!! I beg!! Pls use it!!!
im saying, this is like if lucio never speed boosted, ana never naded, brig never bashed, zen never used discord etc. Its way too important to just never use.
This reminds me of when I first started playing Mercy. Right now I'm working on becoming better at staying alive, I've stopped making bad calls for the most part, I just struggle when the fighting is in an open space. I'm a little better than when I started, I hover around bronze/silver and I usually get 3 or more endorsements each qp. Sometimes when I've got bad teammates I manage to get gold healing and eliminations
So Pepe was already adorable, BUT PEPE MERCY IS THE CUTEST THING IVE EVER SEEN LOL. Also from a tip from a mercy main since OW1 beta, if youre not in a match, practice the Super jumps (Guardian angel to a teamate and before you reach them press crouch to get launched into the air vertically) and flying around 24/7. *You dont ever wana be walking anywhere if you can help it. Being on the ground means death. Also master the art of Rezzing, The only time i die as mercy is when im getting cocky and think i can rezz someone while just standing there. thats a big NO NO. Rezzing makes you SUCH an easy target. LIGHTLY super jump over a coprse so you still have momentum while youre trying to rezz so that you are moving slightly and not just totally standing still.
I think the best advice for a support is that is not your job to move the payload, unless you're a healer that has to stay behind (like an ana), you have to go to the fight and heal aggressively.
Also I've got to say that as a Mercy main i have used my ulti to murder a widow more times than I can count
