The violin Hadelich is playing here is a very special instrument. Before acquiring it had not been heard in a public performance since 1988. It was crafted in 1744 by Gesu -- whose instruments are regarded as highly as Stradivarius made instruments. It has an exceptionally clean but still rich and lush tone. We should all be grateful to be able to hear it played after 36 years in private ownership.
Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges was a French violinist, conductor and composer. His historical significance lies in his distinctive background as a biracial free man of color. Bologne was the first classical composer of African descent to attain widespread acclaim in European music.
I'm usually so in love with the compositions of the romantic period, but the sound of violin by Augustin again got me and really enjoyed listening to this piece. I'm also mesmerised by the story of composer, who lived as a biracial in the 18th century...Thank you Augustin! 🤩
It's astounding to think of what humans are capable of. It's inspiring is what it is. Thank you for giving us hope of what a human can do in such a short time.
A fresh breeze of grace and charm from the 18th century (when they likely clapped btw movements). Augustin's patented singing tone is addictive: can't stop listening! And a special thanks to the Detroit Symphony, "the most accessible orchestra on the planet," for allowing us to enjoy this and many other of Augustin's concerto performances. ❤
Since Augustin performed this piece with Houston symphony in 2021, I have been looking forward to a release of a video recording by him! I even did a deep search on RUclips over the past few weeks. So glad to see this!!!
Saint George was, above all, a high-flying virtuoso, accustomed to shining in high society thanks to his brilliance; interpreting his compositions while ignoring this fact causes them to lose a large part of their brilliance; Thanks to HADELICH for understanding everything...
BRAVO an ALLE 👏👏👏👏👏 ( Like 626 )
Omg thank you Augustin for uploading! The same concerto that I saw live in Newark NJ in 2021. It was actually streaming on PBS for two years but it was taken down couple of months ago. I was so sad they took it down but not anymore after seeing this upload!! I'm so happy now! ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for the background on this composer. Was not familiar with him, or this concerto.....!

Thank you for the informations, it looks like kind of Mozart music if I didn't know who wrote this I was thinking that was a Mozart piece
@@elenacezaMozart himself was a sort of a fan of him😊😊😊 And the Queen Marie Antoinette was his fan too. Remarkable man of that period 😊😊😊😊😊
Just glad no one said this composer was full of "bologne"....🤣😂🤣

I Can’t get over how clean, and bright this performance is!
He is the best for me. It takes care of every note. Fantastic!

WHOOPPP!!! I DIDNT KNOW HADELICH PERFORMED J. BOULOGNE!!!!
When I read "Chevalier de Saint-Georges" I was hopping to hear his violin concerto in G major 😿
They are both nice concertos!
Has a Mozart or Vivaldi vibe. Superb in all respects.
squeaky clean as always
Who let Prince Harry play with the cellos?
One of the most gorgeous violin symphonies ever written. Its a shame it's one of the least played.
Hadelich wonderful, orchestra very good, conductor bad.
I don’t know about the orchestra as well, they just don’t really blend in sound. But yea conductor is probably the main issue here
COMMENTS ARE LACKING OF THE RECOGNITION THAT THE AMAZING CHEVALIER DESERVES!!!!😒
