For people who can't succeed with the grid.png file, I had the same probleme but resolved it with the following values: Make a white square of 1024x1024 pixel then insert an empty black frame of 25 pixels large. This will work for the grid. Smaller black frame won't be visible and won't work.
update for this: use a box field (inverted) on the displacer to create the street / use the default wireframe material in redshift (turn off show hidden edges) to create the texture :)
Thanks a lot! I'm new in this, and it was really useful for me. Kick question: I tried the exactly same project in Arnold renderer, as well, and, even though I leveled up the reflection of the floor, and the amount of ray depth and samples, in Arnold I coudn't see the reflection of the buildings! In Physical they are so much there.. not in Arnold. Do you know what it might have happened? Thanks!
@@thepolybox Don't worry! Some how, I've fixed it :). Now It looks good both ways! Thanks a lot for your tips, and support! I Really enjoy your videos! They are really useful!
Not really sure what you mean with plane material. This is a Standard / Physical Renderer Tutorial as well. These converters suck at anything that is not a simple texture in a channel, so better build that material yourself if you want to use Redshift. Should be very straightforward.
@@thepolybox I created it originally with physical materials and tried to convert the grid material into redshift but it doesn't work and gives me a bright green texture so it might just involve re-doing the grid entirely in a redshift material.
Hey, ive looked at multiple threads on how to get the push apart effector, but whenever i go to MoGraph it doesn't appear, would appreciate some help, also im using R17. Im not sure if it has something to do with the version im using.
If it's not in the MoGraph menu then you don't have it. I don't remember when it got added, but I assume that it was after R17. You can try Shift+C and search for it. If it's not there either then sadly you don't have it, sorry.
I really want to follow this tutorial, however because i am a total newbie when i add the noise in the beginning nothing happens, even when I increase the height. Any advice?
@@thepolybox I am loving this tutorial. Halfway done, but again because I am a total newbie, when I go to render preview all i see is black. Any suggestions?
@@FeedingWolves Really impossible to say without having the project file, sorry. There's just too much stuff that can go wrong. If you want you can provide me the file and I'll have a look.

Very good friend a hug ..and cheer...from italy
i'm having some trouble with the texture... i'm not sure if i made it/applied it right =_= but nothing happens
Very very very good!
Hey!! Can you upload a link to download the grid.png pls
Just do a square in paint with black border, export it as png and drop it. I did that and it worked!
Thank you so much for this!
I have lines missing or blinking on and off on the grid? How do you rectify that?
Awesome.
Thanks for the great tut. Not sure why but I had to swap my sky gradient to go from white to black instead of black to white ie white at the bottom.
very good tutorial
So much thanks for sharing!
You're welcome :)
Thanks Polybox. Can you make some more tutorials about octane and c4d?
I plan on making more tutorials of course, but not about Octane since I don't use it, sorry.
subscribed, thanks!
You're welcome!
Cool
hey, bei mir funktioniert das mt dem grid irgendwie nocht... wenn ich Soft ausschalte, dann ist bei der textur bei mir absolut nichts zu sehen.

Hi, at 9:34, I setup a Alpha Texture by using white color to replace using a withe background image, is that same function for it, right?
Sorry, I don't really understand what you want to know. Can you try rephrasing?
I’m new to c4d and I don’t see the displacer am I looking in the wrong place?
Which version are you running?
@@thepolybox lite r21?
@@kenwithdreads It is entirely possible that Lite doesn't have the Displacer. You'd have to look up the restrictions on the lite version.

Hey man! Sorry, but I don't use Arnold at all so I have no clue what the issue could be. Anything I'd say would be just blind guesses.

The plane materials no longer work in redshift renderer even when I convert them, do you have any idea how to fix that?

@@FrozenDozer oh sorry I meant my basic materials in the physical renderer. Ok thanks ill try and re create it somehow.
If you're using basic physical materials and you recreate it like in the tutorial it'll work ;)

Yeah I couldnt find it, thanks for the tho.
thank you , it was not easy for me but I succeed :)
As long as you learned something the time is not wasted!

nevermind, i had the plane as the child and not the displacer.

you don't need octane for any of this right?
Nope!
What render engine did you use?
Physical.
man how do you see how its gonna end up like on 11:11 ?
That's just CTRL+R on Windows. The function is called "Render View" in the "Render" menu.
@@thepolybox thanks a lot and btw where did you find the grid, any grid i use its not good
@@PyroHUDDA You can just create it yourself in Photoshop / Illustrator or something similiar. Just has to be tilable.
@@thepolybox okay thanks man
No worries. Good luck with your project!
You're German? :)
Perhaps ;D
