An excellent tutorial. It is a shame I had to dig so far to find your tutorial on this topic, but it was worth it. While I only really need parts of it - it has a lot of great information, especially regarding animating the sun and grid.

Hi, Great tutorial. Really informative and well explained. I am having an issue when i pre comp the skybox. When i set up the skybox in its precomp layer it looks fine. When i go to the main comp to see what it looks like, the moutains and stars are blurry and out of focus(i assume the sky is as well but, could you help me figure this out. Thanks again for the amazing tutorial
Thanks mate. Well, the my sky is also kind of blurry in the main comp. As you can see in the tutorial I added a fast blur to it to make it out focus. The size of the sky precomp is 8000 X 4000 which is actually a too small for a HDRI. If you want you could go full high res and make it 16000 X 8000. But remeber to prerender it because it could be too heavy for AE to run.
@@CapVFX Thank you. I was able to adjust the output in the E3D layer settings and it helped alot. However i think your suggestion may be the more sound way to do it. Looking forward to your next tutorial.
hi, i love this tutorial. looks super cool. i have a question about animating the rotation of the wheels. i downloaded .obj files from another website, btw. but when i try animating the rotation like you did, it seems like the anchor point is somewhere in the center of my entire group 3. i tried putting the wheels in its own separate group, but im having the same issue. any advice?
First of all thanks! Are the wheels in pair, then you duplicate them and get a total of four wheels, like in my tutorial? Or does the entire group consist of 4 wheels all together? If so, try delete one pair in blender (or another 3D software), then save that pair as a standalone OBJ. Import it into E3D and adjust the anchor point. Once you done that, duplicate that pair and move them in to place, like in the tutorial. I hope it helps
For anyone having an issue with the sky, change your project depth to 32 bit. I forgot to change mine and it caused some issues when it came to transitioning to different colors.
I’m at 26:34 in the video and when I select the grid layer for the texture channel nothing happens. Even when I turn the diffuse colour to white. Could you please help!
Love this tutorial, thank you, I just have a problem with the sky layer. The sky.mov has good quality, but once I import it in e3d it shows up but really low quality. Any idea why? I can't figure it out
Thanks. Is the resolution set to full in the comp? Check the render quality in Element 3D as well. The size of the sky precomp is 8000 X 4000 which is actually a small for a HDRI. If you want you could go full high res and make it 16000 X 8000. But remember to prerender it because it could be too heavy for AE to run.
@@CapVFX After I posted my reaction I saw more comments with the same issue. I increased my sky background to 16k, and it looked way better. Took me 2 hours to render the final clip but it was worth it :)
When I exported the sky as a mov file and imported back again the resolution looks quite low even thoough i followed exactly what you were doing. Do you have any idea why would this happen?
Is the size of the sky mov file you rendered 8000 X 4000? If it is, and you're not happy with the resolution you could go back and increase the sky comp. 16000 X 8000 could be heavy to work with but will increase the quality alot
@@CapVFX I will give this one a try. Also I was working with the grid, when I tried to loop it with offset every second or so all of the 9 grids randomly spins around. it's hard to explain but a weird thing that happened, first i expored the grid lay-out without the offset loop and made a offset loop with it and exported again and used it like that. but now the grids disappear on main scene every 10seconds. just small bits of things i couldn't manage to do it. i would like to send an e-mail and get more help from you if that is possible?
@@tankaan That's strange. Did you put the Offset effect after the Repetile effects? And did you enabled Time-remapping and made a loop from the imported Grid file, as mentioned in 11:00? Hi men. Excellent tutorial. I have a problem with the tyres. They turn backwards as if the car is backing up, but they should turn forward. How can I modify this parameter?
Thanks. Well, maybe your rotating them in the wrong direction. Or this could be a wagon-wheel effect thing. The tyres are moving forward but it looks like they are going backwards. You could try to rotate them a bit slower then. Read more about the wagon-wheel effect here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon-wheel_effect
@@CapVFX Hi bro, me again. I have a question about the "noise phase" of the grain in "vhs look". My video lasts 02:45 minutes. How can I extend the life of the grain in motion? Thanks.
