To provide some context: X rose to fame with his hard hitting 808 aggressive grunge-rap style before the release of this project. He released a song called "Look at Me" which is raw, vulgar, and loud. Music made for mosh pits. It quickly went viral. He released a number of songs like this (with Ski Mask the Slump God) and other Floridian rappers. ruclips.net/video/wJGcwEv7838/видео.html He then was arrested and his mug shot went super viral. The face tats, his hair, his overall look jarred people. He then gained even more notoriety with his live shows - people said they were insane. Mosh pits, stage dives, fights in the crowd. He had insanely good crowd control. He started building almost his own cult following. There are videos online. It's insanely impressive for a 17 year old kid. But clearly, he had a lot of life experience, confidence, and wisdom that resonated with young folks that also connected to feeling empty or like an outsider. He then did an interview on No Jumper with Adam22 where he barely shows his face. It's still the biggest video on that channel. He fascinated people. He built a feud with Drake, calling him out publicly during his rise (Drake was accused of stealing X's flow on "Look at Me" for his song "KMT"). He then had beef and had altercations with the Migos. He rubbed some established industry folks the wrong way because he was uncontrollable and raw. He released 17 at the height of this newfound stardom and it shocked everyone because the album didn't have any aggressive mosh-pit style rap songs that he got famous for - instead it was introspective. Love this album. You should really watch his live performances to understand the power in his music and its influence over his fans.

I never used to listen to music as a child, only heard it when my parents played it. X was one of the first people I ever listened to on my own and I was almost scared with how relatable some songs and lyrics were. He really made me get into music and ive become a whole different person because of it. Ive shed many tears to these songs and I really appreciate you highlighting an important part of my life.
deeply troubled individual, especially at such a young age but an incredibly unique musician. The vulnerability in his voice is disturbing yet so comforting
I never felt like that listening to someones music honestly. You can LITERALY feel pain thought these songs. Idk how to explain it, but they make you extremely emotional and feel some typa way. X was truly different
I hope you can react to his second album "?" He has a lot of rock songs there, pop, more singing with acoustic and also rapping his ass off. Once you hear him rap you'll know what we mean by versatility. One of the greatest artist of our generation. Tragic the way his life went and turns it took. But the music is the statement that makes his name pop up

i love the concept of timeless music that people still to this day are able to listen to this music for the first time it will still hit the same among the masses
This album saved me. I was at my lowest of lows. Never felt so lonely. Never felt so much like no one cared and then that explanation came on and I listened to it front to back and I felt heard and seen. I listened to it over and over that night and the next think I knew it was the next day
Thanks to the RUclips algorithm, I ended up clicking and watching the entire video. First, I want to say thank you for this reaction. X's music is very important to me when I feel depressed. R.I.P. to him. I also want to thank you for your wise words. My mindset has improved.
i've never even listened to the album so this was my first listen too, but I just wanted to say that this is probably my favorite reaction by you. your son is lucky to have you as a father figure in life
im from austria in europe, and Ive been listening to X since soundcloud. for me he is my top 1 artist all time for several reasons. his complete sound and versatility, the raw talent with so many music styles, u got a song for every mood. he helped me through 4 hard depressive episodes and i thank him and trippie too for my life now, bc i wouldnt either be here or in a much different spot. i love how u get into the song immersively and can feel what he was picturing. for me the best reaction to 17 by far. thank you for sharing it
I’m so sad I missed this generation of music. I’m 42 and my son is 19, and I listened to rap my whole life, and he showed me X and Juice about a year ago, I can’t stop listening to them. Now my favorite rappers are X, Ski Mask, Juice WRLD & the $uicideboy$ 😊
I remember being depressed when this came out and it helped me a ton cus for the moments of listening I actually felt like I wasn’t alone, like I wasnt the only person feeling how I felt. It’s been long since I heard this album from start to finish, I don’t usually listen to it cus it takes me back to how I felt. If I even attempt to sing along, my voice cracks cus and I end up wanting to cry. There’s no way I don’t shed a tear listening.
You shared some really beautiful and meaningful to me perspectives in this. Through my teenage years I listened to this album on repeat, like you said I absolutely tortured myself reliving the un-changeable past. It took me until about a year ago to stop listening to my depressing playlist and I realised I’m better without it. Although I love X and this album especially it just wasn’t healthy. I became addicted to being miserable and still struggle with that to this day, but I’m getting better. I tattooed x’s 17 with the tree of no attachment (the tree on his forehead) on my arm as a reminder of that dark time and the masterpiece of an album that described perfectly how I felt. I never want to forget x and he was a once in a lifetime artist who never got to show his full potential. The reason why he has such a cult following is because nobody describes pain quite like jahseh did, especially at that time. His music saved lives and helped so many through dark times.
Bob’s sentiments about relationships and depression are spot-on, specifically on the second half of the album. Great commentary here! So wild how big this guy was when he was around, his songs on SoundCloud especially. Some of his early stuff was so abrasive and angsty, makes sense why it resonated and was an entry point for so many kids
I say this with all my heart. X was a complete star, a new musical genius of the century, you don't see what he did nowadays, he really brought his genius to everyone in music, eternal X, he left his legacy and his history! Excellent video, thanks for that.
The thing with X and this album in particular is he was one of the main artist bringing the saturated 808 screaming mosh pit rap into the scene, he was known for being angry, loud and for his troubles in the past that always resolve in violence, theres a lot of clips of X just fighting people, and this album was the start of his healing journey and becoming a positive figure for his fanbase, he started doing lives on ig and twitch giving people good messages about the future, playing games with his fans and admiting his problems, working with charity and squashing any beef he had with any artist in the past, trying to be a guide for new artist rising up and literally about to become a father when he got killed, so this album was shocking for a lot of people, he is probably one of the most dynamic artist ever, i recommend you hearing some singles from the past, and the "revenge" project where he shows the "rage" type music and some variety too (he even dapped in Rock) so yeah A Man is a Man when he owns his mistakes and use them to guide others so they dont do the same when the sucess is just another tool to heal and help others X was becoming a man inside and outside (he died at 20)
This is more than a reaction channel. It’s getting to know bob as a person and his personality of open mindedness and understanding of life being portrayed through listening to rap music as a new experience to him
9:57 I just wanted to say you are beyond blessed to have never experienced a friend taking their own life at your age. I've experienced 3 at the age of 24. Lost one of my closest friends at 16, another at 18, and another at 22. As well as a few other friends/mutual friends in highschool, another guy named Nick I was in photo 1 and 2 with, shot and killed himself my sophmore year, he was the first person I ever knew that took their own life, he was an amazing person. Just like my other 3 friends, kade, nick, and lakota. May they all rest in peace.
X was a young man who made a lot mistakes and as he matured he started tried to make amends with the people he wronged he lived each day trying to become a better person and role model
I hope you continue to listen to X. His music helped me in a dark time and when hes passed ik a lot of people including myself were HURT that someone who helped so many adn had finally gone through his own pain died so pointlessly and young
I was dating a long time friend last week when I watched this for the first time. Today, we’re no longer together and usually when I get into an emotional phase I’d go back to this album and sit and obsess over the sadness. Last week Bob, you said it’s a familiar devil, and today I’m battling the obsession and negativity because of the words you were able to convey that I could not see on my own. Thank you for dropping this, ironically enough I’ve waited years for it but didn’t expect it to be so personal now
Glad you reacted to this, very impactful album for a lot of us. Coincidentally went through my first real heart break exactly when this album dropped and it I clung onto it hard as it reflected exactly how I felt at the time. Listening to it now is not so painful but thinking of where I was back then still makes me sad. You got me crying at 8 am Bob. Great album and great review
X’s music got me through the darkest times in my life, I would listen to this album and cry knowing I wasn’t alone in my sadness and that it’s possible to use your pain to create something beautiful. Thank you for doing this.
I think I found my new favorite RUclips channel. I feel a lot of "song reaction" channels bank on bias and circle-jerking because it can be easy to pretend you like the music your audience listens to. Because of this, I've avoided a lot of these channels over the years despite my interest in these types of videos. However, you clearly care deeply about music in general, and even more specifically, each track you listen to. You're passionate about music to the point where you have the capacity to find something to appreciate about seemingly any music. It's a wonderful treat for a fellow music lover. Thanks Bob!
17 was a album that I bumped a lot in middle school years ago when it came out. I don’t love it as much as I do now but I can’t lie and say it didn’t help me at all when I was younger and had a impact on me. Shout out to you for reacting to this Bob ❤.
Bob, you are incredible. Seriously no doubt in my mind your top tier when it comes to music reactions. The insight you bring feels authentic, I deeply appreciate what you do for music.

Thanks again, revisited some old moments and feelings listening to this with you as if it was my first time again.
I spilt this reaction up over the course of two days, and is a testament of why I’m subscribed to you. I love the messages you share and the way you digest these albums. As cliche as it is, X & Peep are two of my favorite artists. I can’t listen to either of em’ the same as I’ve gotten older, but I enjoyed this watch. Would love for you to react to some Lil Peep one day, “Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.1” The documentary titled Everybody’s Everything is a fair insight of his upbringing as well. X was a Legendary artist, one of a kind. Bro was 20 years old making like 15 different genres of music, Not just rap music. 🔥 (his versatility & talent in general was unreal)
X was one of the only artists to be able to channel feelings and tap into to certain frequencies with his music very clearly. He may have some confusing thoughts and feelings but you feel it. You relate to it. That’s why he was the “Protector of the Youth”. He wanted us to be heard and not ignored.
damn i haven't listened to this album for a few years now.. i was really obsessed with the album and it helped me through a rough time and after all these years ist still hits the same. 17 aged so well
I’ve heard the final track interpreted as closing that chapter of his life by admitting to and listing his regrets. I’ve also heard it as taken one step further as his list of regrets he wrote as a note to leave behind as he takes his life. The best part of music is we can all interpret things differently, great video!!

Love this album. You should really watch his live performances to understand the power in his music and its influence over his fans.
This is a really great summary of x and why people were so drawn to him
Unfortunately, Drake the 🤡 had a hand in offing X.
@@pig0001That Canadian could never hurt a man
So interesting how now everyone recognizes X with his depressing sound but forget how diverse his music was.
look at me didnt quickly go viral, it was out for a long time and didnt get any notice until he got arrested and the mugshot paired with thesong went viral iirc
man x hit diff in 2018
2017
2016
this was 2017, and it still hits to this day. He got more monthly listeners now than he ever had, and i know more people use spotify now than back then but point still stands, how many artists have less listeners now than 2018 and still drop
@@entabruh august 25th, 2017 Uzi dropped, asap mob dropped & X dropped all in the same night, crazy shit at the time looking back on it
@@okayfn9918 I was 12 and remember my brother listening to this album, I got to know X by my brother, I love my brother and XXX, RIP Jah 🕊
I wasn’t a fan when he was alive but I checked this out after he died and it’s honestly one of my favorite albums of all time
I never used to listen to music as a child, only heard it when my parents played it.
But the music is the statement that makes his name pop up
as someone w severe depression, everything you said around 30-35 min in was so beautiful and meaningful and definitely didn't come across badly, don't worry 😭🥺
im intensely depressed as well, and hes right
@@willoverdoseonmusic ❤
wasn't expecting this album, so keen to hear your thoughts on it man. im not a huge fan of x as a person, but i think his music and this album in particular are so special. bro even kendrick (who never uses social media) tweeted out this album saying "5th listen. listen to this if you feel anything. raw thoughts."
In 24 and this is STILL one of the only albums I ever go back to and just listen from start to finish. Takes me back to a feeling rather than time.

i love you a lot. you aren't just a reaction channel, you're a man who is as an audience get to hear your thoughts and ideas in a clear consensus. you don't title yourself as "dad reacts" or any baity title; you're just a man who is well spoken and well minded. truly the only reaction channel i enjoy watching because i don't just learn how you feel about the music i enjoy, but i get to learn more about someone more people should get to know. ❤
He actually used to title his videos as "rocker reacts"
@@eddiep118 Back when he was basically only a rock fan. And he did that before all of these other channels started making title's like that.
@@mrfrostwingI think Bob actually started or at least popularized the wave of “___ reacts” to music and then stopped when everyone started doing it, what a legend
Although X did make many mistakes, I think it's important to know that he was doing his absolute best to change, he was becoming a really beautiful person and trying to fix his wrongs.
He was also only like 18 when this stuff happened
Still condemn the behavior but it’s important for context
no way this was so unexpected thank you so much Bob this is my favorite artist ever
i love the concept of timeless music
that people still to this day are able to listen to this music for the first time it will still hit the same among the masses
The thing with X and this album in particular is he was one of the main artist bringing the saturated 808 screaming mosh pit rap into the scene, he was known for being angry, loud and for his troubles in the past that always resolve in violence, theres a lot of clips of X just fighting people, and this album was the start of his healing journey and becoming a positive figure for his fanbase, he started doing lives on ig and twitch giving people good messages about the future, playing games with his fans and admiting his problems, working with charity and squashing any beef he had with any artist in the past, trying to be a guide for new artist rising up and literally about to become a father when he got killed, so this album was shocking for a lot of people, he is probably one of the most dynamic artist ever, i recommend you hearing some singles from the past, and the "revenge" project where he shows the "rage" type music and some variety too (he even dapped in Rock) so yeah
A Man is a Man when he owns his mistakes and use them to guide others so they dont do the same
when the sucess is just another tool to heal and help others
X was becoming a man inside and outside (he died at 20)
This is more than a reaction channel. It’s getting to know bob as a person and his personality of open mindedness and understanding of life being portrayed through listening to rap music as a new experience to him
Such a beautiful and raw reaction, this is probably my favourite album of all time and it helped me through many tough times
so much respect for being able to verbalize that preface to X so precisely and inoffensively. i’m of the same mindset. thank you for that
absolutely incredible review, love the detail you went into, the analysis of his lyrics and relating it to give the audience advice is beautiful
Definitely my favorite reaction channel. Tries seeing a deeper meaning, where others just go for the shock and buzzwords in the album
Everytime i hear his voice i cry 😢 R.I.P. X
He was my favorite artist when I first heard him when I was about 15 and still is today rip x..
This might be my favorite video from you. It feels like a therapy session
Just subscribed. Talk as long as you want bro! X had a message to give to the world.
Bob you just gained another subscriber today. It feels good to see someone being himself in front of the camera.
1:03 Absolutely right, a lot of people don’t get this but I’m glad someone else finally said it
I am so glad you popped up on my recommended, you gained a new fan! this album really helped me when I was down in the dumps in my teens. Luv from MN!
“Save me” literally gives me 007 James Bond intro or outro theme music. So eery, melodic, meaningful and beautiful
X still gives me chills
Bob, you are incredible. Seriously no doubt in my mind your top tier when it comes to music reactions. The insight you bring feels authentic, I deeply appreciate what you do for music.
Even if you aren't super animated in your reaction, I feel like your authenticity is what keeps people engaged! Good stuff!
Will forever and always be a die hard fan of X
Appreciate the listen. Would love to hear more of your thoughts on the rest of his work, and even some earlier songs in his career. He goes through “stages” of his life with the music reflecting that. Also, I would love to hear some juice wrld reactions. Thanks again, revisited some old moments and feelings listening to this with you as if it was my first time again.
I was 17 in high school when this came out and bawled my fucking eyes out everytime lol
Would love for you to react to some Lil Peep one day, “Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.1”
The documentary titled Everybody’s Everything is a fair insight of his upbringing as well.
Two polarizing figures of mid 2010s
Thanks Bob!
this video made me a subscriber, your inputs and discussion after each song really made it an incredible watch. thank you for making this video about an album that means so much to me and so many others
i met his family and his son this year in China and they were wonderful people. Happy he still is able to connect with people too this day, His spirit can still shutdown streets even in countries that don't speak English. Maybe one of my generations greatest Artists gone way too soon RIP Jah
carry on is one of the hardest to listen to just because if you can relate to what he's saying then it is exactly what you're thinking from day to day but don't think of, and cant say. carry on life flies so just carry on with this pain inside of my chest got no choice but to carry on.
X was a Legendary artist, one of a kind.

17 was a sad and meaningfull trip, it's like a feeling you cant forget, damn... RIP X.
It's sad that some of the people can't understand his artistry. They hate him blindly.

Yo bob I strongly suggest checking out the album he dropped after 17, it’s called “?” (Question mark), absolute work of art.
I really resonated with your closing statement and your thoughts on the album. Thank you for the video.
Wow bob didnt expect this today! Thanks pookie
I almost forgot how special bro was ,the nostalgic of hear this after years .beautiful 😭
bob you are truly the goat
X was one of the only artists to be able to channel feelings and tap into to certain frequencies with his music very clearly. He may have some confusing thoughts and feelings but you feel it. You relate to it. That’s why he was the “Protector of the Youth”. He wanted us to be heard and not ignored.
Lol I feel you bob, woke up feeling good playing Denzel and first track I got a frog in my throat😭 have a good day y’all

Had no idea ur reaction video was going to help me through my heartbreak lol. Thanks Bob
I’ve heard the final track interpreted as closing that chapter of his life by admitting to and listing his regrets. I’ve also heard it as taken one step further as his list of regrets he wrote as a note to leave behind as he takes his life.
The best part of music is we can all interpret things differently, great video!!
