Hey everyone! A new original composition for you today, Lover's Lake. I originally wrote this last summer for "Tales of Hyrule", a fairy-tale themed BOTW charity zine.
Since all the submissions combined Breath of the Wild characters and fairy tales in the art and stories, I wanted to do something similar with my composition. What came to mind was Swan Lake (one of my favourite pieces of music of all time), combined with the Breath of the Wild Main Theme. Then I thought of Lover's Pond in Necluda - the heart shaped pond where you go to meet your true love :)
The piece is pretty obviously divided into two sections. The first is largely modeled off the beginning of Swan Lake and channels that tragic fairy tale energy, with the fear of losing your one true love hanging in the air. The second section is modeled after one of the waltzes from Swan Lake, ending with a triumphant classic Zelda VI-VII-I harmony. Fill it out with some showy arpeggios and we're ready to go :P
I hope you enjoy the result! See if you can pick out the influences from each material :)

I love how dramatic & somber the first section is, juxtaposed with the more lively, spirited second section! Just an utter delight! And the lighting during the second section is just PERFECT. Honestly, I would be quite stoked to see an album of all original compositions from you, some day! 💚

This piece is absolutely beautiful. It sounds simultaneously like something from a videogame and a piece of classical music and I love it. It's always a pleasure to hear any music you have to share, but your originals are always especially stunning. Thank you.

Wow, Samantha! A beautiful composition and a beautiful performance. I learn so much from watching you play. Your technique is impeccable and you play with such wonderful musical expression, something my teacher is trying to teach me to do. I’ve been taking weekly lessons for 2 years 9 months now in Alabama. I’m 78 years old now. I get a lot of inspiration from watching your videos. And, incidentally, your video and sound quality was also excellent. Thanks for sharing this with us! (Jim)

I have listened to it a couple of times now because I wanted to say more than "Whoah, it's pretty!". I mean, whoah, it's pretty! But you again have told a story here.
The first part reminds me of the longing lonely people feel when they wish for a partner. Then, a decision is made! The person goes looking for the lake. Determination (and a bit of desperation) fills them. And then, at the lake, there is someone. Lots of questions, a dance of social cues: Did the prophecy come true? Is the lake what they say it is? Have I found the one? How do I approach them? What if they don't like me? The situation comes to a halt. And then - the main theme sets in - there's this guy that drops down from an impossible height with his hangglider. "Can you help me?", I ask. And in the end it turns out that the other stranger had a beautiful smile all along.
Well done, Link- uh, I mean Samantha! (‾◡◝)

Oooh, this was so beautiful, Tchaikovsky is my favorite classical musician and Zelda music is one of my all time favorites. Perfection.
But I must know, can this be played on the Lever Harp??

Thank you so much Zabrina! 🥰 and no, this one is for pedal harp, I think the key changes would be too much for lever harp
