You can't even hear this on the ride but the sound effects that play on every drop and turn and rise in the track are awesome and really tie together the experience.

It's all a matter of opinion. I love the orchestral grandiose that the California SM provides despite it not being my forte.
I don't know if it's the quality of the video, but while this theme is more upbeat and futuristic, it sounds more phoned in.

I really like this new music they added to the ride. It has a very modern feel to it, and a little bit of a classic touch added to it as well. The Imagineers have definately plussed Space Moutain!
Space mountain was one small step for man, one giant leap for Disney.
I know you said this as a joke, but space mountain was pretty revolutionary as it was the first coaster that used a computer to manage the ride.
They need the music to be as loud as rock n roller coaster

The best place to hear this is in the unloading area at the end! The music comes from speakers below the tracks. So, it still plays on the tracks when you finish. Oh, and a few overhead speakers. The only difference is that the remix they use on the MAIN ride is slightly different to this one. For example, the ‘woah’ you hear at 2:15 is a continuous loop on the ride!

Jonathan's Coaster Reviews Hey Jonathan, unfortunately Disney have an annoying habit of re-releasing audio on certain attractions! The remix of this particular song contains the vocal mix (the woah remix), the space sound effects and the space shuttle sound effects.
As of now, this is the only version available to the public. I’ve searched Heaven and Earth to find the remixed version. I’m almost at the point of just finding space sounds, recording my own vocal mix and throwing it together on my own remix.
How do you plan to mix this one? I’m not trying to be annoying I am just curious because I want to do it myself.
When you hear the more orchestral piece, it is a small excerpt from the 2005 Giaccino Dinseyland version. Listen to the Disneyland one again and listen to that part again

For all those people comparing it to Disneyland, SHUT UP! The music for WDW's serves a completely different purpose than the music for DL's. DL's plays with you on the ride, so it is a soundtrack for all of the movements dips and turns that you make, happening as you make them. WDW's is 100% atmospheric. It plays distantly in the background, getting you pumped as you zoom through sound and lighting effects, giving the atmosphere some excitement. Both pieces of music work perfectly for their respective versions of the ride. I would never want to ride WDW's with DL's music, nor ride DL's with WDW's music.

The DL space mountain audio is from 2005, this specific audio from WDW’s space mountain is from 2011 so that segment is really from DL
i think space mountain at wdw should at least make the music louder, and make it heard even up the lift hills. otherwise, i like this recording.
If this were an onboard soundtrack then I'd understand why they should make it louder, but this soundtrack is supposed to be more ambient. That's probably why it isn't as loud.
love this music. since it isn't choreographed to the ride like dl's version, the beat of this track actually distracts me and makes the drops even more thrilling :)
I’ve always viewed the space mountain music in Disneyworld to have more of an 80s vibe while the Disneyland one has more of a 70s even though Disneyworlds space mountain was opened in 1975 haha

Space Mountain in Disneyland is my first love, but seeing how they used the soundtrack to make the original Space Mountain in WDW more enjoyable, what is there not to like? I LOVE this soundtrack!

This is SO a song I could imagine being done by Capcom (in fact, it kind of sounds like a heavily-remixed version of the Space Mountain theme from the old NES game "Adventures in the Magic Kingdom").

I know the guy that composed this music. He's a nice guy and don't talk crap about the music. It's really good and although it isn't as good ad DL's track, he tried his best making a techno sound track. don't be jerks and make fun of it.

@redique Strange, when I went during the summer I heard rather well throughout the ride. Some of the speakers might have been turned off for maintenance and the reason the Disneyland version has speakers in the cars themselves not on the track like at WDW. This is because the track can't support new vehicles with speakers built into them (management is very strict on what gets replaced).
I hope Disney never gets rid of this ride
The very first time I rode this ride they had it playing on one speaker aw you zoom by, and it was right at this part 0:23, whooshing by it sounded so cool
I kinda miss the silence of space. It was creepy, yet fun at the same time. More realistic in my opinion.

@rocketrodlover Haha, Disco Mountain! True i miss the glowing rockets, theres no point going on the TTA anymore you cant even see the cars whizzing arround! And you cant see anything from the loading area, not even the flying asteroid cookies :P

For all of you who want to hear it louder again...go to guest relations and complain because people have been for the past 3 days and maintenance has been notified, but they could care less...so if enough people "guests" complain they will get the ball rolling sooner

Revetting Ay, but the DLR will always be better known for it's soundtrack. Unfortunately, for a lot of Disney fans, this is not a case of the original being better. I have never been to WDW so I can't quite judge yet until I do eventually go, but from MANY Disney fans I've heard from (even very biased WDW fans who will agree with everything from WDW) agree that DLR's SM is better in terms of music. Again, I can't quite tell you yet which I prefer because I've never been to WDW, but from what I can tell by the music, I prefer DLR's orchestrated spacy music rather than WDW's retro dub (not quite sure what to call it) music. Of course, this is just my silly opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs.
Revetting Ultimately, WDW may be the original, but Disneyland will continue to be more of the standard for SM and will be better known.

I love contrast of DL and DLP space mountain theme relative to WDW’s one DLP and DL’s sound like your crew died in some attack or something and you the last Joel and your goal is to get back to earth you know dramatic WDW’s on the other hand sounds like the select character menu of the video game adaptation of what I just mentioned

@fancysnake1 Just like ThemePark said, there is music on the ride, but you don't hear the entire track. Hear hear parts of this one, along with other sounds on the ride. There's over 100 off-board speakers located inside the ride, to accomodate for the Starry-O-Phonic sound.

It took ages to find this track anywhere because any search, even if you specify Walt Disney World, brings up the damn California music.

@drstrangelove1968 It is, but you only hear parts of it, not the whole thing at once. There's also several different sounds played during the ride. I think the reason why you only hear parts of it is because they've installed over 100 off-board speakers in the ride.

I just went to this and really you cant hear anything right until the very end really they should inprove their speakers really the disneyland one u can even hear it in videos but this u cant even hear it on the ride itself unless u pay really close attention and I do recall being able to hear it at times and I have to say if u want to hear it the most go to the people mover.

I think this theme suits the Disney World Space Mountain better than the Disneyland one. I like both themes, but the feeling would be completely different.
