Space Mountain proves that a rollercoaster doesn't have to be a hyper coaster to be great. The speed and loops of newer coasters are fun, but theatrics and a good track layout matter just as much as coasters that boast 8 inversions.
This ride even goes only like 30 mph.

When I rode Disneyland's space mountain for the first time I wasn't sure if I was about to love or hate this thing reaching the final ascent, but the moment the drum beat comes in at 1:28 just as the ride really starts picking up, I laughed out loud and couldn't erase the smile from my face the whole rest of the way. It's impossible to say if the ride makes the music better, or the music makes the ride better --- they're perfectly made for each other.
This is exactly it!! The ride and music are just perfect for each other - when you have one without the other it’s good but it just doesn’t feel the same. When I ride Space Mountain I laugh like a frickin howler monkey and the gigantic smile doesn’t leave my face for a good half hour even after the ride is over:)

I remember sitting on this ride over and over again thinking... why does this music sound so familiar! Then i found out that the composer is the same guy who did The Incredibles soundtrack, and a bunch of other stuff for Disney. Hands down, a freakin awesome theme for a freakin awesome ride!

+Edgardo Rivas I looked up Verbolten, X2, and Bizzaro on Wikipedia, and nothing is mentioned about any on-board soundtrack. Where can I hear the music for those rides, if it exists?
+Edgardo Rivas X2's theme doesn't seem to be as unified or special, and I couldn't find a good video showing it. The video I found of Verbolten didn't seem to have any soundtrack or music, or it was too noisy. And it seemed shorter than it should be. Bizzaro is just a bunch of Superman quotes and characters talking, not really a good music soundtrack. And again, not much mention of these soundtracks on other websites, talking about their composers or sound designers as I would have liked.

Came here after they brought back Hyperspace mountain. Love the coaster but this song just always makes it a million times a better experience no matter how many times I've been on ot its just so fun and magical
i did hyperspace for my first time the other day. it was fun, but it definitely doesn't compare to the original in my opinion. the hyperspace soundtrack doesn't give you that sense of speed and thrill like the original one does!

Thats what I love about Disney Rides. They create such a memorable atmosphere with simple things. The coaster itself may not be the fastest or the tallest, but when you can create a story and memorable experience with a simple accompany of music? That is when you come across real talent and real memories.
That is what Disney does. They want the memories from their attractions and parks to create magical moments that will last a lifetime!
I love how the music transitions into a calmer version of the song at the end. Its almost like the results screen of an arcade game.

Honestly old disney rides are absolutely amazing at syncing the composed track with the ride. so many attractions wouldn't be what they are without a wonderfully written score.

The most exhilarating part of the ride is the very beginning when you first turn that corner and you look up and you can see the control tower. You also just have seen the other people go by and you can slightly hear their music.😎Best Part😎

So? They put fans in the ride & abstract your vision so you can't tell how fast its going. Also I don't care how fast it is. If I wanted fast i'd go to six flags, but I love the effort & theming put into each & every ride at any Disney park.
I like the Florida version better because you spend more of the line in themed areas. It is also a much more thrilling coaster (plus the it's the original) I also just like it's theme much better than the DLR one. And there may not be ride music but the music in the line is just fantastic.

I’m addicted to the fact that so much effort was put into single ride like this, everything was well planned to maximize the fun of your experience.
Nothing can beat those iconic rides comparing to today’s rides like Mario kart ride, new Spiderman ride.
New rides nowadays seem to be very budgeted in my opinion.
Though I've been to Disneyland probably 8 or 9 times, I never went on Space Mountain until I was 20, two years ago. When I did finally go on it, I heard this music and thought, "Holy crap, this is what I've been missing!?" Epic ride, hands-down.

I don't know why, but I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain last week and I rode all the rides there, but Space Mountain is still my favorite ride even if it is not that thrill.
Definitely not a child ride. It's for all ages, plus my favorite rides at Six Flags are Twisted Colossus and Full Throttle.

I would disagree. As a child, I remember my sister being very afraid to ride it. I also remember seeing many adults riding. Sure they may be riding with their kids but this ride has no presence of childish things. For example, a child ride would be Winnie the Poo's ride or the Mad Hatter's ride. I mean, look at the picture shown on this video; they are all adults. And if you think about it, Space Mountain is a roller coaster in disguise. Coasters are for non-children while "rides" are meant for child, the tea cups. Tea cups are a ride. Space mountain is a coaster.

Certain parts are mainly for kids. But space mountain and splash mountain can be for anyone. I was very scared of splash mountain. In fact, I had my chance to ride it a long time ago when I was a kid and scared. And I've not gone back to DL since. I wish I had rode it now ;)

Definitely not designed for children. It's a ride designed for all ages, and the theming really helps with that. It's such an incredible ride.
The music really sells the ride. You feel like you're on a mission to save the earth.

Just sit back, and close your eyes. The musty air, the amount of wind blowing in your face, truly one of the best feelings to ever experience on a rollercoaster. Forget what people say about how the ride never lives up to today’s coaster standards; remember, it’s a rollercoaster TYPE ride.

The 90s version was way better!
Not even a comparison, the old music used Rock N' Roll and perfectly fit the theme of the ride, along with getting you pumped up for the ride. I don't know what part about random violin screeches makes me think space or get hyped up for a roller coaster. The new music completely ruins the whole experience.
One of the best rides. As a gamer though, you can HEAR the inspirations from this ride that went into Kingdom Hearts and the Gummi ship segments. Even the ending part of this ride sounds close to what the status screen for the Gummi Ship sounds like.
This made me realize how much I don’t like hyperspace mountain.

I love this ride so much. When I went to Disney World for the first time (I had previously been only to Disneyland), my experience was almost ruined because the Space Mountain there didn't have this music.

Rode it for the first time recently and this was one of the things I first noticed about the ride. It was great having a late welcoming to the ride with this kind music. Now I know what I missed out on for the past 10+ years lol

I still don’t know how they did it. This ride should not exist. There is no reason for a ride to be this good. The music, the coaster, everything. This is the best ride I have been on and will ever go on. This is the only Disney ride that makes me feel like I am not in a theme park. 0:57 makes me feel alive. This is the peak of not just Disney rides. But rollercoasters as a whole. There will never be a ride like Space mountain.
