Vikinger Thank You
The conversations between Ivar and Heamund are the most interesting parts of the season.
Really powerfull scene. It looks like Ivar respects Heahmund more than he respect his brothers
? what to me this made him look weak and it confirmed it later when they played chess, he knows he cant beat Bjorn, so he getting what he thinks is a great worrier to kill him.
Respect is given when it is received.
Ivar didn’t trust any of his brothers and oddly trusted the bishop more. He was right to do so because all of his brothers rejected him except Hvitserk, but Hvitserk was conflicted and couldn’t be fully trusted.
The other brothers were to busy trying to protect Ragnar’s legacy and achieve his farming dream. But Ragnar wanted his sons to be better than him and only Ivar knew that. Floki even tells Ragnar in season 1 that his son will want to do better than him and Ragnar never seemed bothered by that, he wanted his sons to be greater.
That is only him manipulating Heahmund. He is trying to look humble so he can better persuade Heahmund to be on his side.
Ivar like his father Ragnar had lived an entire life of treachery, brutality and using just mere strength and fear to rule over others.
Heahmund on the other hand represented an unseen soft power, that is unwavering loyalty, a code of honour and duty which is representative of Christian values he adheres to. That is something that Ragnar and Ivar both appreciate, and respecting it, even wanting to learn more.
Heahmund would play a part in bringing Hvitserk to England where he knows that it will be his final resting place. In the final battle, he did what his father Ragnar had wanted, to leave one son to be converted to Aethelstan's faith, to expand the ideas and the minds of Ragnar's people. It was the final will and it was beautifully executed in film to show the legacy of the Vikings
Beautiful scene....finally the real ivar!!!! How he really feels
Floki always throwing gang signs to the Gods
"because i am jealous of you!"
i thing this is the most emotion ivar's ever shown.
This is one of those scenes that really elevates Vikings to the top table of TV for me. The cinematography, script, music, and acting are all top notch. Such an intense atmosphere.
Stephen Carter straight to the point!! I agree
Ivar wants to be like Ragnar. Ragnar had a Christian monk friend. Heahmund is a Christian Bishop. Bonus points that Heahmund is smart resourceful and a great warrior. Ivar knows how to exploit people he wants to use his talents. And even though ivar will never want to be a Christian he's curious about it.
Yup. History repeats itself...Ivar seems to be repeating Ragnar's finest points, while Bjorn's inability to keep it in his pants seems to have doomed him to repeating every single mistake his father made with women!
What I love about this scene is the great camera perspective. Because they aren't looking at each other, and the facial closeups, it becomes a very intimate confession. Ivar literally being a "sinner" and headmund a literal priest. Ivar admitting something so honest like his jealousy and self-hate to a christian priest, all the while being a devout pagan goes deep
Heahmund is Ivar's Aethelstan.
^^^ love the parallels this show makes between Ragnar and Athelstan, Ivar and Heahmund, and Ubbe and Alfred!! I think it’s wonderful how both similar and nuanced they make them
One problem with shooting in Iceland is that it looks nothing like how the Vikings found it. Iceland was full of trees before the Norsemen cut them all down.
Ivar was feeding the Bishop ego, because we all know that he's not humbled.
I don't know man...whether Ivar is sincere or not, what he says is what I was thinking in terms of why Heahmund lived. Heahmund is so much like Ivar and Ivar knows it
Ivar definitely meant what he said. His legs are the source of his rage. He has never considered himself a "whole" because of them.
Ivar's not humbled, he's envious. It's an entirely different emotion.
The Flame On Fire!!! I want to be honest he's more than whole in my book.
I really hope that Heahmund will join our side. As Ivar said, the worse thing will be that he will get to kill heathens. He has nothing to lose.
I understand Ivar on a deep level. I’m a cripple and that’s all people see me as. I wanted to enlist. I want to be whole.
Chandler Redmond I am a cripple as well and I want to become a surgeon. I want to be whole as well. But everyone around me keeps saying I can't.
Ragnar: I'm not going to stand here all day watching you try to be normal when you never will be.
Ivar: I am normal!
Ragnar: No, you're not. Once you realize that, that is when greatness will happen. Now CRAWL!
Ragnar Lothbrok I love how Ragnar treats him. Wish someone would for me.
I'm Asper. I'm not physically or mentally disabled, but I've spent the past 20 years of my life being relegated to low paying or "volunteer" jobs because the dimwits in charge of the job placement programmes learned pretty much all they know about autism spectrum comes from movies like Rain Man, and warding off any number of offensive come-ons from paraphiliacs who think I'm "retarded" and therefore unaware of the traits that make THEM unattractive...but I KNOW I'm already whole!
@@sarahgray430 Learn to conceal it from the world Sarah. I did and I was able to do well because of that. Learn how to hide that in plain sight as the world will never understand it.
I love Alex and I loved Jonathan! They are both great actors!
anyone know the moment when ivar said to hvitserk you remember u used to pull me through the streets in a cart?
"I am already ON a journey!"
The vulnerability and open hearted attitude of Ivar when he admits his jealousy and admiration to Bishop Heahmund really set up what I had HOPED would be a friendship or mentor-student relationship, even if only for a short while between the two. It ended too short. I know there are fans of the Lagertha-Heahmund affair and I'm not saying that shouldn't have been done. I'm just saying, this moment seriously set up for a great chemistry between Heahmund and Ivar. There was a LOT of potential there. It's very unfortunate it wasn't explored more.
greatly agree
lagertha x heahmund sucked we all know she was not loyal to him, she didnt even think about him after he died
ivar with heahmund is a better relationship, no romance just two cool men with eachother as friends
Bishop Heamund gained my admiration, this is the way a true Christian and bishop must carry himself. Not like these days modern bishops getting richer and richer and abusing children.
Hahaha, what?? His introduction in Season 4 consisted of him presiding over a funeral then telling the grieving widow God would console her over the loss of her husband....then in the next scene his supposed to be celibate ass was screwing her. Definitely a moral noble bishop indeed 😂
kynta12 correct
He's only human and the problem of the Vatican run church is that the clergy can't get married which is unscriptural.
They should marry and serve the Lord to be fulfilled
It is highly likely that Heahmund will convert the Kingdom of Norway under Harald Finehair.
In history, it was the son of Harald Finehair, Haakon the good who was Christian when he was a child and converted Norway to Christianity. Haakon the good was also a saint, just as much as Heahmund is a Saint not only in the Vatican church but also in the Byzantine Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
That is how revered Heahmund is. A archetypal image of Christ like ness
Bishops didn't have to be celibate in those days.
Favorite scene of the season so far!!!
Who's cutting onions here..?
Ivar and Heahmund reminds me of Ragnar and Athelstan. Just more.... ruthless.
More ruthless, better dressed and better groomed!
You know, both Ivar and Heahmund have very clear eyes o.o
Awww...BFFs
Their relationship had so much fucking potential, but it was ruined (like most things on the show after season 4). That scene alone is more than enough to prove that the characters together had a lot to offer. It's a shame that the writers chose to make Heahmund fall blindly in love with Lagertha overnight to the point of giving his life for a woman he barely knew, which in my opinion only harmed the character by making one of the best character traits: his loyalty.
Does anyone know the ambient music used in the background?
I can’t find any of the season 5 soundtracks.
Shhaaunn Vikings - Aftermath
Efraín Medina you’re awesome. Thank you 😀
Shhaaunn My pleasure!!👍🏻👍🏻
TEAM IVARRRRR

Lol Floki’s special place... their faces were as if they just found it it was Butlins
what does ivar say after strong
and whole i think
thank you
damn i thought he said Holy lol I thought he was turning Christian like Ragnar was with Athelstan hahaha, weird. That's why I came to this scene on YT to see if it had the subtitles or whatever.
Anthony A nah ivar can't go Christian since when ragnar died he saw odin come to him so he believes in the norse Gods
can someone please explain to me how is Ivar able to communicate with Bishop Heahmund? are they speaking the same language now??
Lleone Either Ivar knows how to speak Saxon or Heahmund knows how to speak Old Norse
Heahmund knows how to speak Ivar's language
Late to the discussion but imo Heahmund's character is shady af. He switches sides and beliefs faster than Rollo. Hope 5b will explain a good reason for it.
Wtf.... Why wasnt this in the episode that I watched wtf...
