Hey Everyone,
In today's video, we're going to show you how to do a SUPER EASY mod to your F30/F32... the Strut Brace! As you'll see, this mod is extremely easy to do and only takes a few minutes to install. Not only will it add a little bling under the hood, but it will help to tighten up the front end of your car, resulting in a minor improvement in steering and handling!

These braces help noticably with stiff coilovers. The brace spreads impacts between both front coilovers so you don't get jackhammered as hard when hitting a bump.
I've done something similar in my F10. DO NOT OVER TORQUE IT. The strut tower threads strip pretty damn easily for some reason, and if you strip it you'll need to either drill and tap a size larger, or so a helicoil repair.
is doing that extra 90 degrees over torquing it?
That’s what I did. Went for larger size
How many nm would you concider ? Like 30 and avoid the 90d turn ?
The bolts are listed as single use by BMW. Although you can reuse them I would not torque past the 30nm. Only do the 90 degree turn if you are using new bolts.
Installed this on my F31 & wow! you definitely feel the difference, I would also suggest the Autoteknik lower reinforcement brace also!

I sourced 5mm longer bolts to allow for the thickness of the brace plate.

I don't have a BMW, but well done...so, what difference did adding the cage in the back(seat) do to the car? That should have made a difference too, yes?
I have a 330e I would imagine the difference would be even more noticeable given the cars extra 500 lbs of battery
So I have to take it out every time the engine cover needs to be removed? And do those bolts need to be replaced every time since they’re aluminium? Thank you
Once you've torqued the bolts to spec, why are you torquing an extra 90 degrees?
Looking at ordering one but it seems BMW lists the strut tower bolts as single use since they stretch. Has anyone used the old bolts again?

My question is, how should the oil be changed when the tower struts are on? I have one with tower struts on, problematic !?
I can attest that it makes a noticeable difference and that is with 17" wheels on my F30. I am having 18" M400 wheels installed and looking forward to how that feels. Has anyone other than Osama Bandi installed an Autotecknic lower reinforcement brace? Is this a DYI that a newb like me can do? Is it worth it? How about a video on that?
will it fit in a F36 and is the carbon version full carbon???
Aren't those strut tower bolts a bit too short because of the extra height of the base plate?

The base plate isn’t that thick and the stock bolts are pretty long. No issues. I can measure both and post the measurements if someone is really interested.
I removed the thick oem washers & put thinner ones, works fine.
Lowes has some aluminum anodized washers, or stainless steel should be ok also. Maybe just put a thin film of anti-seize compound or silicone grease in between.
Does this help with lame light floaty feelings that these 340i f30 has?

u say it tightens it up. the electric power steering is already super tight or sensistive, too sensitive for my liking to be exact. ! if this tightens it up more, u can just blow on the steering wheel and ur in the other lane. so is that what u mean by tightens it up?
So when trying to remove the bolts like at 2:34, I heard a pop and the top of the bolt sheared off, leaving the threaded portion in the socket. It was on the center of the three front-side bolts. What can I do to remove the remained of the bolt, and to make sure it doesn’t happen to any more of them? I very much want to install this!
You can use make a hole on the bolt with an electric drill
The strut tower bolts on my 2014 328i (RWD) are 16 mm not 13 mm. Does this change the torque specs?

If this improves handling as claimed, why doesn’t BMW do this themselves instead of leaving it for after market?
BMW does, It's one of the many differences between f30 and f80. Not all base cars come with these kind of upgrades because these ad on's help when the vehicle is driven hard. An F30 will be fine and last long without them, but performance wise it's better to have them. Inexpensive upgrade, very worth it. Noticable difference.

That is the actual torque spec for those bolts from BMW. It’s in the Bentley manual and I would assume on sites like newtis.

For my 2015 F32, the manual stated 28nm + 90 degree extra turn.

I have a BMW 320i XDrive, how do i tell what engine i have? If its an N20 or not?
Google a BMW VIN decoder & enter in your VIN. It should provide you with a breakdown of your car's specs/features (including engine).
