What about the other side?? One side is for the starting system, the other for the movement. You get it to start but will anything else work? Ive had mowers that'll start and run but will die if you try to move or cut grass. If theres a problem you could melt wires with that jumper you used.
This switch was for the blades and failed opened. Its mechanical when the lever is pulled the switch closes and it grounds the wires allowing the mower to start. You could cut the wires and crimp them together and it will work forever. The only drawback is you can go in reverse with blades on and start the mower with blades on. If you sit up the seat switch will still still shut off mower. If you dont use brake the mower still wont start. This has nothing to do with anything else. Its still hooked up like that and working a year later.
What is the thing you put in there just a piece of metal having same problem and got the switch off now I am a female live alone so I got to fiqure out how to fix things myself please tell me how to finish this been jumping the solenoid off to crank it for a year now
i just did that as it had came to mind as i seen it moving up when i hit the brake all the way down but still nothing at all even did the seat also got dark on me still need to do the pto as i always have a hard time when it runs to get it to work right my ex took the solenoid off before he left and took old one with him i had no idea what to even get or do to fix it so i assumed i put new one on right as it still only cranks by jumping the solenoid lights dont work either anymore i dont know what else to do i got a fuel pump on the way as i been needing one then i guess i will just have to keep doing it this way new switch and all also
@@sherryhowell8697 I would make sure you got the solenoid on right. Should be 1 thick wire to starter and 1 thick wire to battery. The green wire will be signal from key switch that turns it on. You can put a test light there and see if it comes on when you turn key. The other connector/wire would be ground to frame. Could put test light there too and see if that lights up and if it does you have a ground issue.
@@dirtypocketsct i did the big wires right but it use to have a 3 port and my new one is a 4 which they said it wouldnt matter but the end i had to change to hook up to bolts in stead of the little slide piece got that fiqured out but i have only the 2 thick wires and a little tiny wire attached to one of them that is not hooked to anything dont see anywhere it would have went to and then 2 other wires that are small that go one the little nuts one is 2 black wires that are together and the other is a white wire i did try a tester not sure i did it right but it only lite up when i touched the thick wire that goes to the postive on the battery and the little wire hanging off of it lit up nothing on the other 3
the way they talked watching videos of how to install it by mounting it on the metsl frame was the ground i dont know im a female so dont know as much about doing things like this as men do i try hard to dont mind doing it kinda like it when things go right dont have anyone to call to help me but it sure kicked my ass today will try to regroup and try again sfter work tomorrow just to get it to turn over with the key would be huge it takes 2 people to crank it and its dangerous as well thank you so much for your advice made me feel like i was going in the right direction as it wouldnt do anything at all if it was either safety switch it should crank without the seat one hooked up but wont engage the blade without it i remember unhooking it one time and had to hook it back i guess they work in a certain order seat being last in line

Yes a paper clip, a wire, anything metal
