So 300 dollars gets you an af lens, that has metallic build, weather sealing,f1.8 aperture, sharp optics, and pretty much none focus breathing
I think we can say that this has been a good year for sony APSC cameras. It's been some time since we got so many good quality lenses.
In terms of lenses, yes. Cameras? Update much needed.
I've bought a Yongnuo flash trigger and 3 receivers 17 years ago and they still work as new, never missed a flash. I am glad that they got into lenses.
i always do not skip ads on your video to support your channel,. because i only trust your reviews in camera lenses,. other than other reviewers,.
Really watching ads gives anything to channel? I thought that they get money anyway, because it's about views/subscribers. So it only count when subscribers watch full duration ad? :O
Wow! The fullframe coverage is a big big bonus! At least in video will be so useful, around 20mm I think. Good job Yongnuo!
Especially since you a crop in 4k 30p on many FF Sonys.
Add 10% crop with active stab and to completly get rid of vignetting you will need to crop 5-6% more in post. Pretty pretty good I would say, for a 290$ 273 gramm lens. You will get around 18.5mm f2.1 after all the cropping.
Another proof, that these chinese lenses aren't as bad as some years ago. Looks to me like the first good lenses from Tamron and Sigma, 10 years ago. With the SP line of Tamron and the A, S and C lines of sigma. I am curious to see whats coming in the next few years :).
I agree. Viltrox 24 and 33mm are so good.
When I saw this lens brand new on sale for $149 I immediately ordered it.
Hello, what would you recommend for astrophotography - Yongnuo 16mm or Samyang 12 mm ?
£300 gets you a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and some change and the best built wide lens for Sony APS-C
It is, the only drawback is the size.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH and that’s why I’m looking forward to buying into this travel optimised small but decent lens.
The Sigma 16 1.4 may be bigger, however being careful how much, in fact very little, camera equipment I take when travelling, has not seen space to be an issue. I prefer wider shots when travelling, so it's the Sigma 16 and the 18-104 purchased when I bought my a6000- very little lenses available then and still does all I need.
Hey Christopher please do a test on the new yongnuo 11mm f/1.8 da dsm wl
5:38 That's a rainbow, that is! :D
Hello Mr,.Christofer.
Is this lens available now in England for purchasing and where can i buy it.
Hola me gustaria que probará la lente Meike 50mm f0.95
This lens for fuji x mount would be incredible
hi Chris
would u please test Yongnuo 50mm F1.8 DF DSM for sony FE mount? many people said its image quality is even higher than that of zeiss 55mm f1.8, and can be comparable to Nikon 50mm F1.8 S line.
Damn my dream is a mirrorless aps-h camera to use all these modern lenses potential 🙏
This might be of interest. I never bought the Sigma 16 as it was just too large.
Please, do a YN 50mm F1.8 DF DSM (for Sony FE) lens test
It would be an ideal street photo lens for my weatherproof EM-5 II...
Isn't the Sigma 16mm 1.4 still better overall and only slightly more expensive new?
Hi, which is a better choice between Samyang 12mm F2 vs Yongnuo 16mm F1.8?
I need this on fuji x mount.
Chris, what's you opinion on Canon closing the RF mount? You are one of the most prominent lens reviewers on RUclips, your opinion matters.
I've been thinking of doing an opinion piece on it for a long time, and Tony and Chelsea's awesome video is encouraging me to do so...
Please can you review the Yongnuo YN11mm F1.8S DA DSM when you can? With the quality of previous lenses, I’m excited to see what this lens can do and for the future line up they have promised.
1st from Indonesia 😍
Would you recommend it at $288 usd over the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 at $370 usd? What offers better bang for the buck?
Great review like always!
Which wide angle lens for Canon R would you recommend on a budget? Maybe the Irix 15mm Firefly?
Laowa 10-18mm
@@zegzbrutal hmm I thought about it, but I would love to be at least able to make astrophotography as well. So something faster would be nice
Compared to the Sigma it’s smaller and gets closer to the subject. You lose f1.4. I like having the choice!
Could you let us know if the lens is vignette free with 1.3 crop?
Yes
There are already a Sigma 16 1.4 and a Sony 15 1.4 for APS-C.
I should like a 16 mm prime for full frame.
Viltrox has a 16mm F1.8 for fullframe that's almost G-Master level :)
Is the thumbnail always with your full frame camera even if you test an aps-c camera for clickbait?
Wow what a cynical guy you are haha. No, it's just because I think my black a7R III looks much cooler than my horrible white coloured a5100.
@@christopherfrost get ‘em chris
@@christopherfrost Okay thanks for explaining, because I clicked on the video because I saw the full frame camera, then got disappointed it's for APS-C. Like always. But I get it now, the black camera looks cooler
Was thinking the same thing.
@@jeroenvdw Man it's kindda fullframe indeed! Not 16mm of course but difinitly 20mm at least! And it's great!
Meike 50mm f0.95 please brother 😁
a decent lens, but theres mighty sigma 16 1.4 as direct competitor,i dont see it has any chance
Sigma is large, though. Which is why I never bought it.
Yo dawg!
Is there any fuji version for this?
The downside of Fuji unfortunately. And of Canon RF, as well.
Bought the lens for $200 and it's pretty good for the work that I do.
where did you see such a price? I see it selling 290$ on aliexpress straight from a Youngnuo store.
@@visceraljourney I got it for 140usd
Why this and not the sigma 16 1.4? 😊
obviously its cheap and can give you the "almost" same quality of that sigma
Maybe Yongnuo will improve?
It seems like a good lens to me. I like that it is small, I have the Sigma 16 / 1.4 and it is pretty big. This Yongnuo seems to be a good competitor.
@@pizzablender I finished watching and it definitely performs decent for the price. I wouldn't be confident buying for the long term of course, but those on a budget would appreciate.
This is a clearly good lens for the price...
Now Canon will ask to YN to not make lenses for RF mount! then Canon soon will be like Leica - just for stupidly rich photographers...
They don't care because they have the reputation that attracts the professionals, who care very little for the budget.
@@haaspaas2 Pro dentists and lawyers!
@@haaspaas2 Professionals are just less then 5% of customers... Good luck to Canon with professionals, or there will be also customers with amateur camera+kit lins and that all...
Been watching your videos for a while and love them, but i have to say that the video vignette of lenses on full frame bodies when the lens is actually meant for aps-c is quite misleading...
Some lenses cover almost ff to those who want it, the first gen Viltrox 85 comes to mind
@@JJARCHIE I didn't mean the vignette of the image, sorry, I was talking about the thumbnail of the actual RUclips video : mounting an aps-c lens on a ff body made me click thinking it was a ff lens
@@Robin.F96 fair, its just his apsc camera on collection is an a5100 and wouldnt look as good
@@JJARCHIE agreed, but now he mentions aps-c in the title for the recent videos, wich he didn't at the time, so it's all good now 👌
I just bought it and it's shocking quality. I have cheap Chinese lens which look way better than this. just can't pull sharps on it properly at any stop. I see ghosting a nudge from the focus point. the lens flare is horrible and asymmetrical. I am hoping mine is just a faulty specimen or not properlymanufacted (uncalibrated)
Renders like an RF cheapy lense
chinese lens for Sony e mount(af):
(in my opinion)
viltrox>YONGNUO>ttartisan>meike
CHINESE LENSES ARE COMING
AND THEY ARE GOING TO BE CHEAPER AND BETTER
JAPAN LENSES BEWARE!!!
😆
Stop it wumao 😅
