      I straight up disagree with the notion that those destined for Hell are living in Hell on Earth and those destined for Heaven and living Heaven on Earth. If anything my entire life has shown me the complete opposite to be true, and the writings of the Saints allude to this as well. Personally I think it's a dangerous idea, and may even lead some very Holy people who are constantly suffering for God to become despondent.

      I don’t want to burst your bubble but this only speculation. Plus we should be driven to go to heaven because it’s the dwelling place of God. But I like you probably every Christian doesn’t want heaven to be boring. But ask yourself can this life be better than the one to come? Of course not. That is not speculation. We k ow that we won’t have pain or crying or mourning that is NOT speculation. If we won’t have these things there must be many things to have joy in doing in heaven. It’s eternity there will never ever ever be a “moment” in which we won’t have anything to do

    • @familyt1588
      @familyt1588 2 года назад +1

      Don't worry, you don't have the power to 'burst my bubble'. I'm also not concerned heaven will be boring at all. Fr. Pine's 'speculation' is based on his deep, prayerful study of St. Thomas Aquinas' 'speculation'...and that's good enough for me to be inspired. God knows my heart and that I love Him and that heaven is truly being united with Him. You can be excited for the details of your wedding day and at the same time, understand that the depths of your heart are with your spouse.

  • @mattsigl1426
    @mattsigl1426 Год назад +1

    A beautiful vision, but the actual phenomenology of the beatific vision remains obscure. Does memory persist? Does our imaginative space in consciousness (like ability to imagine images, sounds etc.) persist? How does understanding conceptualize the fantasy unfolding before it? A swirl of temporally infinite beauty that can only be made sense of as the direct perception of it? If so, how is the soul experiencing it ME and not merely just “a soul, per se”. What about the ability to perform abstract thought, like math equations? Do mathematicians THINK for eternity? How does the phenomena of heaven relate to the past of life in creation? To what extent does one have a CHOICE about how the beatific vision is experienced? How different is eternity from soul to soul? (The assumption of a universal template to the experience of the vision of God for all saved human souls is, I suspect, naive. Perhaps.) the claim is we have our bodies returned to us, but do we experience movement through reality wholly bodily as we do now, tethered to a sense of gravity? And consciousness itself, is it the same SIZE? Is it literally larger? We take what’s it’s like to be a human now as a given, and project forward. But what COULD it become? It is hard to imagine eternity not getting boring without a creative imagination. Big questions.

    • @thequietkid6454

      The way I think of it is that since we have limited bodies, so we are limited people. Limited people have limited desires. When we drink water on a hot day, we eventually will stop wanting to drink water. In heaven, we are eternal people with eternal desires. With an infinite amount of possibilities, comes infinite desires. We just can't comprehend is through our limited minds.

    I’ll start off by saying I disagree with much of Catholic theology... With that out of the way your discussions have been a huge blessing to me. The Lord has using your ministry to soften my heart. Fr. Pine does a great service to combating the question, “Will heaven be boring?” The only point that made me squirm a little was when he said, “The degree of charity you merited in life is the principle of your enjoyment of the beatific vision”. That theology wreaks (for a lack of a better term at the moment) justification through works. That our merit is gained through what we do after genuine salvation rather than by virtue of being gifted genuine saving faith. I think the Bible is clear that salvation without works is not genuine salvation, it’s also clear that our works do not earn us anything because even our greatest deed isn’t righteous in the eye of the Lord, and the only merit we have is gifted to us as a result of Jesus’ sacrifice.
    Either way, you’re doing great work!

    • @marccrotty8447
      @marccrotty8447 4 года назад +7

      Jacob Cox. Salvation and 'degree of Charity merited' are two different things. Trusting in Jesus Christ and His redemptive act of the Cross are necessary to be saved. Baptism makes one a Christian. This act prepares the soul to participate in the Sacraments and life of Christ through His Church. Charity and good works express this belief and build treasure in Heaven. I think this is readily understood. Discover what Catholics actually believe. Read The Fathers, Augustine, The Summa, Cardinal Newman, GK Chesterton, Hilarie Belloc, Frank Sheed and numerous other orthodox writers. You will be drawn into the Catholic Faith. With complete knowledge, the First Church of Christ is irresistible. Come join us.

      I’ve always understood that it’s because they can’t do anything further for themselves, like pray or do acts of penance. They need our help. Much like asking a friend to pray for you while you’re both still living your earthly lives, You appreciate and have hope that your friend’s prayers will be helpful to you, but you can still also pray for yourself, as well. Once your soul leaves your body at death, you can no longer do anything for yourself.

Unfortunately so many people listen to this guy as if he’s been to heaven yet the Bible says what no eyes seen and what ear has ever heard. This is mere speculation in what this man says. He is not an eye witness. People need to have faith in God. He has prepared a place for us. We know that there will be no mourning or crying or pain. I like to think of God as Creator. He's capable of creating for all eternity, which leaves us open to new experiences in Him. I asked this same question in real life, about Heaven getting boring, and it was explained to me that "Revelation 21 and 22 give a wonderful picture of God’s people serving him and ruling over his new creation. It was always God’s will that he would rule the world through human beings made in his image. That rule has now been spoiled by sin but it has been restored through Christ and one day we will perfectly reign with him. The new creation is an affirmation of the present creation and of culture within it. We will be using all the gifts that he has given us in community to continue to use all the resources of creation to build a culture that goes from one degree of perfection to another for God’s eternal praise. I know that leaves many questions unanswered, but it certainly won’t be boring!"

      It's important to not have an anthropomorphic view of God. Some (erroneously) think that the Christian view is anthropomorphic, but it's not; the whole point is that although God is personal, he is entirely different from us. "I AM" is his name. And so is "Love"; "God is Love".
      God is not just some person like you and I, except much more powerful and wise. God is Love. He isn't just loving, he is LOVE. He is the Good itself. Think of the concept of value and beauty; think of what is common and shared between things that you call "beautiful" and "good" or "valuable". God is the source of all that. God is literally Goodness, the perfect form of value.
      Is there anything bad in being a slave to Goodness? A slave to Truth? Love? Such a "slavery" is actually freedom. We won't be "singing and praying for all eternity", we will be perfectly satisfied and fulfilled as we explore more and more of God - who is sheer goodness, beauty, and love - alongside our loved ones in the communion of saints.
      Anyway, I hope my words don't come off as being too hard to understand or anything. I hope they help a little. Have a great day.

    • @africanwarlord5946

      We wouldn’t be slaves. God isn’t forcing us to do anything. As Christians, we want to worship God, right? Well in Heaven that desire is greater than ever because we aren’t effected by sin or Satan. We get to worship a perfect God in a perfect place with a perfect new body.

      @@regirock7313 Goodness is the common form behind the good things you mentioned, as well as behind virtue, wisdom, and everything good. An "old man in the sky" is irrelevant and indeed you shouldn't bother praying to an "old man in the sky", the whole point of my post was that one should not anthropomorphize the concept of God. God is supposed to be perfect goodness; anything else would not be worthy of worship. Goodness in its fullest extent does seem to me to include personal powers, since wisdom, love etc. are great paradigms of goodness, but while God/the Good is therefore personal, he is not comparable to a finite, limited person like you or me, or anything remotely close to an "old man in the sky".
      Now, this is all metaphysics and classical philosophical thought and theology. If you just don't care, I think that's too bad, but I hope you'll nevertheless find a way to live your life in a healthy and happy way, with or without believing in God. The Kingdom of Heaven is NOT eternally sitting on a cloud playing a harp, nor is it eternal church.
    There are homes in Heaven, and trees, horses, food, rivers, streets, and gates so there will most likely be exploring of God's vast creation.
    AND there is NO crying, NO sorrow, NO pain, and NO DEATH in Heaven.
    The Bible says, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has it entered the mind of man what God has prepared for those who love Him." This means we can't begin to imagine how great Heaven will be.
    Hell, at the very least, will be eternity without all that Heaven is.
    AND eventually God will bring the New Jerusalem (Heaven) down to a renovated earth and we will live for eternity in perfect Health, perfect Peace, perfect Happiness, on the earth the way it should have been BEFORE Adam and Eve sinned.

    bro. Idk if this is right or not. But my parents always say that the Bible says that, In Heaven, you can have anything your heart desires.
    so i know how to not get bored.
    I live with anime girls for eternity.
    and if i get bored of that, I send myself to an alternate Isekai reality whilst still having my heaven powers thingy, and i go on a epic advintue, and live out a normal human life there for like 100 or so years.
    then i go back to my anime girls. and i can just set myself in an alternate reality where im the protagonist of my favorite anime like Naruto. I live their lives for 100 or so years and then i go back to heaven to see my anime girls.
    and whenever I get bored I just live in an alternate, epic reality for 100 or so years and then hang out with my anime girls.
    and i kee repeating that process for all eternity. PERFECTION

    What about married people in heaven?

    • @DanUtley
      @DanUtley 5 лет назад +10

      That short answer does barely enough except piss off the person asking it.
      While there is no marriage in Heaven, because it is an earthly sacrament and thus channel of grace, marriage won’t be NECESSARY. BUT, that does not mean you will not have a unique love or relationship with your spouse. To think that the one person who was INTEGRAL to my salvation, and I to hers, becomes just another Schmoe in Heaven is laughable.
      To put another way, thinking of your kids, parents, or your best friends, you can have deep, abiding love and strong relationships outside of marriage.
      Also, if we are perfected in Heaven, think of how much greater your mutual love between you two will be in Heaven, even though you’re not married the way we understand it.

      @@MarkJohnson-dr4ws I'm 15, but I get what he's saying. Since you won't need Babies (since everyone has been made by God already), you won't need sex. If you don't need sex, you don't need marriage. In heaven you will feel the same love for everyone as you do your spouse, of course you know them, so that's the first person you go to, but we are all the same age when get to heaven. Your son will be like your brother in heaven, and God is your only father. You only have authority and roles for your family on Earth due to Reproduction.

    This sounds horrible.... why can't we have a heaven of our own desires our own making and if God is so great and is so awesome then why can't not getting to meet him or missing out on what he has planned be punishment enough? Why did he even create us. Most of us didn't even get to have the lives we wanted, much less lives worth going to hell over and heaven sounds like....well hell... Why did God create us? None of us asked to be here. I'm sorry but I think we should get more than just God and Heaven when we die

      God created you because he loved you and wants the best for you. He could give you everything you want, but the truth is that not everything you want is necessarily the best thing for you. Since God created you and knows you better than yourself, he knows exactly what it will take to satisfy you and make you whole. With that in mind, why would the thought of being with God in heaven be horrible?

    Do not try to understand what Jesus was saying by thinking of what you have been told by priests and pastors. They can only repeat from the Scriptures and have no personal knowledge of the Kingdom of God or Heaven.
    God is not contained within any one place but is everywhere, as are the heavens and air above you. The Holy Word spoke truly when it says: in God you live, move and have your being.
    For the Kingdom of God is above, around and also within you; and you can enter the Kingdom of God.
    But what is it?
    It is a state of mind and heart; which is fully possessed by God, our Father. When you are in this state, the Father is the head of your body and directs everything you do and all of your life.
    How can that be?
    It is possible to be so emptied of selfish desires, enmities, angers, jealousies, greed, and vindictiveness that only God is left in control within your mind and heart.
    What happens then?
    Then you enter into the State of Being which is God-directed. It is altogether beautiful and glorious. It is Love, it is generosity, it is caring for other people as you care for yourself, it is non-judgmental since you accept other people exactly as they are, knowing that they too are God’s children and are equally in the Father’s care. It is happiness beyond measure, beyond description, it is joy in the beauty of the world, it is life unlimited and increased energy, it is health and it is the fulfilment of your every need before you even know that you have such a need.
    You suffer because you do not understand how you have been created, and the true purposes for which you were born.
    You were born to be sons and heirs of the Father, you were born to enjoy all that the Father is in Himself and all that He can give you. But you have turn your backs on all the glory of the Kingdom and try to find pleasures in earthly things. While you do this, you will never find the Kingdom of God; nor enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
    How shall we enter the Kingdom?
    Jesus has already told you. You enter the Kingdom of Heaven when you repent of all that you are in your heart and mind. When you take your evil to the Father and ask forgiveness and pray for the strength to be cleansed of your evil thoughts, words and deeds, and you finally get rid of them, then you may be sure that you are about to find the Kingdom of Heaven. When you have accomplished this, you will find that your attitudes towards others are changing, for the Father will be doing His Love Work within you. You will be free of the chains and thongs of evil desires and deeds which previously bound you and made you a captive in the world. More than this, you will find that the Father does satisfy your every need.

      It's an extremely valid question, because as he says at the start of the video, kind of, is that without pain, the pleasure or release or whatever afterward doesn't feel as good. A glass of water after a hard day's work in in the sun tastes sweeter than it would have without the challenges of the day. You appreciate your health more after being ill. You appreciate sustenance more after going hungry. I'll have to finish the video but I've wondered it myself many times, I might not have used the word boring but still it's a valid question. All questions are good questions to ask
