I agree about the multi-franchise and Yamaha/Ducati thing you were talking about. It's the reason why I like going to dealers like P&H in Crawley. They have a lot of manufacturers under one roof and it just makes it so much easier to browse potential new bikes.
It is frustrating when manufacturers have tantrums about sharing the bike dealer sandpit, it costs us money to go to a dealership often, so having to go to multiple locations will make me most likely avoid the ones on the fringe when I can go to a multi-franchise dealership and see more of the bikes I like. We have a Triumph dealership around 30min from me, I never go there now as it is just not worth it, so I get no face time with their bikes to persuede me to get them over another brand. I do hate the driving "flim-flam" time of day.

Yep, multi franchise is best and so are their mechanics. I’ve seen too many Harley Pro Mechanics struggle to work on other brands and vice versa.
