The lawsuit against Brian over the publishing was understandable. Murry Wilson sold the publishing out from under Brian which Brian hated. But Murry was dead and Love's only recourse was to sue Brian Wilson because had owned the publishing with Murry. All the lawsuits after that were IMO just dark-hearted money grabs and little surprise that Jardine was given relief in appeal and the suit against Brian over Smile was dismissed for lack of merit. It can be spun in different ways but Love did sever ties with Jardine, Wilson, and Marks after raking in some serious cash for the 50th Anniversary album and tour. Initially explained as the expenses were too high with the three other original Beach Boys included, Love switched gears to blame the split on Brian's wife Melinda. The difference between Brian and Mike was that Brian saw the Beach Boys as the catalyst for making music, and Mike has always seen the Beach Boys as a business. Among other artists, Brian Wilson is seen as an all-time master musician, and Mike Love at best as the frontman who wrote lyrics about surfing, cars, and girls and by many as an all-time a-hole.
I have to add, the lyrics to GOOD VIBRATIONS were the result of Mike Love having Brian change from his original lyrics. That is what i am led to understand from my research. Brian recently re-released GOOD VIBRATIONS with his original lyrics, and I found it less impressive. Now, Mike claims he insisted on the change in lyrics and judging from the intended original, this seems to be possible. Mike and Brian were always at odds. Mike was the front-man but also a major pain and self indulgent. Without Brian, the band would never have become so famous. In later years, all the Band members were involved in writing and creating and did prove the Band had many a faceted talent. With Carl, Dennis, Brian Johnson and Al all showing great talent as writers.
As one who grew up in that era...and a BB fan...first seeing them in concert in 67...Back Bay Theatre, Boston...Most fans...HATED Pet Sounds....How about side 2..BB Today

Mike Love became a very underrated lyricist when working along side the young Brian Wilson. His lyrics, especially on " The Warmth Of The Sun " , " Good Vibrations" , & " Surfin USA " . His bass voice was a perfect voice for the 5 part harmony of the group. -------------MJL< 75 y/o
Some comments are saying that love, wrong or right, was still a singer in the Beach Boys. This is true. My point of contention is the group could have had just as much success, probably more with another person singing lead and a lot less theatrics ( r & r induction) along the way. To those that say nay, Love's voice is not stellar by any stretch of the imagination. In conclusion, fans wouldn't have had to wait so long to hear the finished album, Smile.
''California girl's', ''I get around'', '''Fun fun fun'', ''Surfin' USA'', ''Kokomo'', etc all Mike Love on lead vocals...Mike Love was an integral part of The Beach Boys sound when it came to vocals and songwriting as well.

Ins-DARK into Hateful Mikey.
Looked up ASSHOLE in my dictionary,
saw a picture of Hateful Mikey!

Mike Love has always been a legend in his own mind. His ego is larger than the national debt which is why he and Stamos get along so well.
Al was a high school pal not college. They were both on the football team. Brian broke Al's leg on the field.
Mike Love breaks wind, lol.
Mike Love ran cross country in high school so I doubt he played football.
@J yes, thank you, the guy made it sound like Brian was a loan shark.
Alan played football? What was he back
then, a buck 50 soaking wet?
I am SO glad Alan stayed. (Or, came back
after he tried dental school.) He is the
glue that keeps The Brian Wilson Band
together! Matt also.

Dude, do you bother reading those, even in your head before you record them? Buddy Holley is from LUB-ock Texas not LU-bock!
Mike Love sung one of the best Beach Boys songs ever called All I wanna do off the Sunflower album. Now, In the search bar above type in this following title....In defence of Mike Love Part 2
Mike Love is right down there with the Kardashians. 👎
Mike killed the Beach Boys. I can't/won't listen to any of their "music".
Brian still rules!
Mike Love I had met at Dunfey hotel i was a Bartender at Tingles Disco Mike was wearing blue jeans so iam talking with Mr.Love the door floor manger said you cant come in we have a dress code . I have watched and listened to a few of your videos. I also have read some of the comments and in almost every video someone comments on how poorly you narrate them. Please, please, please either practice/rehearse the narration, redo the parts you stumble through or get someone competent to do the reading.
it blows my mind how this guy… is the uncle of one of the most loved (no pun intended) basketball players… oh kevin, you will be missed in cleveland
Mike's brother (and Kevin's dad) had a brief NBA career
Basketball is for morons.
Never admired him...don't know why.just my gut
How could Jardine be restricted from incorporating his identity as part of his tour? Outrageous.
Well-researched and accurate. Thanks!
Murray’s sister is so pretty. How can they be related?
Kokomo? 😂 I remember hearing it when I was 9 years old and thinking it was corny as shit!
Narrate this sometime when you're no drunk
What no mention of his wacky marriages!?
What a shame they were not mentioned, he's had the same number of wives as Henry VIII and one child more than Captain Von Trapp in the SOM!!
@@pyro273He's been married five times.
Mike Love developed penicillan
'Kokomo' was a terrible song
I am in no way a Mike Love shill, but I strongly disagree. Carl's vocals on that track are heavenly.
I think no talent Mike played tambourine for Mick Jagger didn't he?
Mick didn’t show up. He was still in England.
@@mikemcconville2495 - You have no idea what Ric is talking about, do you. I'll give you a clue, RRHF.
@@warmswarm earlier in his speech he said Mick was still in England
@@warmswarm you must not have seen his RRHF speech. Look it up.
@@mikemcconville2495 I would love to know what Mick Jagger thought of Mike love comments about him.
Mike love is a Punk' He wouldn't of been anything if it wasn't for Brian
Never had an original thought so he sued to own the "Beach Boys" name. True to form, he calls the band "Mike Love's Beach Boys."
Sorry Mike, but if it ain't Brian it ain't the Beach Boys.
PS: Stop that goddamned finger popping showboat routine of yours. 50 years of that and it's still trite!
nothing happened to him , he's still performing.
Compared to women, Mike Love is a nice person...
I've never once heard Love slam Brian
Mike Love became a very underrated lyricist when working along side the young Brian Wilson. His lyrics, especially on " The Warmth Of The Sun " , " Good Vibrations" , & " Surfin USA " . His bass voice was a perfect voice for the 5 part harmony of the group. -------------MJL< 75 y/o
You really think Love, WHO WAS NEVER A SURFER, wrote "Surfin USA"? You're as crazy as Mike Love!
Could you try not mumbling?
what's with the marble-mouthed narration?
Mike love has a chip on his shoulder, both of him.
I know what happened to Mike he's still trying to sell out State Fairs. He has the cash why doesn't he get singing lessons and a rug
Mike got TOASTED, bro.'
Nothing happened to him...he was always an a..h...
I think Mike Love has a bald guy Napoleon complex. And the less hair he had, the more of a jackass he became.
Who cares?
Mike Love wrote 113 songs including 3 on Pet Sounds. His voice and contributions to music will live on 4ever
My guy Mostly Brian And Tony Asher wrote on Pet Sounds pls just no
@@niggato23 Not true Mike love contributed wrote Wouldn't it be nice, I know theres an Answer and I'm waiting for the Day.
Mike Love now uses the alias Neil Smith. Noted.
he was a key member of the group and his singing is the signature sound of the group.
I didn’t know mike still had 2 fans!
Why so much hate against Mike Love? I really do not understand it. I love the guy.
Same
I mean I understand the hate but I can’t hate him myself he’s just too cute
Then you don’t know Mike love
''California girl's', ''I get around'', '''Fun fun fun'', ''Surfin' USA'', ''Kokomo'', etc all Mike Love on lead vocals...Mike Love was an integral part of The Beach Boys sound when it came to vocals and songwriting as well.
too bad he’s a piece of shit… you can have all the talent in the word but if you’re an arrogant asshole i will have ZERO respect for you… is chuck berry responsible for influencing many of the greatest bands ever? yes. but i did not respect him
He got lucky and sang vocals , wow , he’s like Kesha , sure they sing but boy they do the bare minimum and sound well.. nasal 👃
They could've easily have been done without him.
