  • Eric Von Williams was tubing down the river with Nicolae Miu, but he'd met him the day they got to the river. Von Williams said he was the only person from the group who went over to help after the altercation, and when he returned to his group, none of them asked what happened or spoke and they floated away with no music playing.
He testified after the altercation, he never spoke to Miu again.

I am perplexed by the two people from Miu’s group who have testified so far. With the exception of this man’s efforts to contact 911 for the victims, no one discussed what happened, no one asked Miu what happened, they continued to float in silence and leave as if nothing happened. I am shocked.

It doesn’t seem believable. He assists with a dying teenager and a teenager who has been gutted. Any normal person would have been traumatized. I believe he was too by admitting he called 911 repeatedly and was ready to get off the river afterwards. But didn’t speak a single word to any of his friends in his tubing party. I call BS.

Especially since it appears his friend Ernesto was right there in the mix. He is shown in one of the photos, so he’s right there. No possibility he was unaware Miu was the perpetrator with the knife. Unless Miu was refusing to speak to anyone 🤷‍♀️ because he didn’t want to incriminate himself. Remember he came back to their tubes and put a hat and sunglasses on (disguise?) He anticipated getting to the exit and escaping, he had no idea his picture was given to LE and they were waiting for him at the exit. Hence he didn’t want to speak to the people he was with, pretending he didn’t do anything 🤷‍♀️

Mr. Williams provided excellent testimony. As he was the only person in Miu’s
group to go assist the injured people. Going back to his group, everyone was ‘silent’ and pretended like Miu hadn’t just stabbed 4 people and murdered another. They proceeded to float past the carnage of Miu and go to the exit. Williams was the only person to show humanity in Miu’s group and also thought Miu snorkeling was creepy.

His testimony was excellent. The teens said Miu said nothing, group 2 said Miu said nothing when they came to help the teens, this witness said Miu said nothing. Miu is a psychopath. It was creepy that Miu was snorkeling in ankle deep water. This witness knew Miu was drunk and something bad was going to happen. Also him being the only person in Miu floating party to help the victims and call 911 says a lot. Generalizing that all young people are trouble especially when they are drinking is unfair. However when the teenagers were creeped out about an older man by himself carrying goggles and ignoring their questions about what he was looking for by their tubes, they are considered trouble makers.
The lawyers are desperate to blame that they were at fault for harassing an old man and therefore he had no other choice but to use brutal force against them because he was punched for assaulting a young woman, even after being told to leave the teenagers alone and was eventually knocked into a couple inches of water were he proceeded to slash his knife into human flesh.
I pray the jurors are more intelligent than the commenters saying that this man who stabbed several people, gutting one, and killed another, is innocent, because that’s absolutely asinine.

Ok let me try to get this right...So after a loud altercation that involved Nicolai being called a "raper," Nicolai being involved in a fight and being punched into the water, Nicolai calmly returning to his group while people scream in terror behind him, Eric seeing people injured on the ground, then Eric returned to Nicolai and the rest of his group - no one talks about it??? No one asks, "how are the injured people?" "What just happened?" They just tube down together in silence - no music or anything - and expecting to leave without talking to anyone else about it?
If this were true - who are these people? If this were true, they'd be cold-hearted, have no sense of empathy for others, have absolutely no sense of responsibility or accountability to their community, and/or would have to collectively be so incredibly repressed/detached from their feelings that they are incapable of expressing themselves with each other and would also be too scared of their feelings to say anything. They would all be significantly mentally ill if this were true.
Or..... they are lying - and probably made some agreement while they were floating down the last part of the river together - to cover for Nicolai. This is the same Nicolai who, thinking there wasn't a video taken, ditched the knife and lied to the police about what happened. These are the actions of someone who thought they did something wrong and didn't want to be caught. This is the same Nicolai who had that weird smirk and creepy look in his eye while he held the knife waiting to use it.
Also - this dude and the wife both seem off.
The whole situation - comfortably violent Nicolai and his creepy and/or lying group, the teenagers being drunken childish ding dongs, the bystanders escalating the situation (with good intentions) - and then the obviously underqualified prosecution - it all feels like we're in some sort of bizarro world.

The defendants group was trying to help him get away. In my opinion some of them should have been charged with accessory after the fact especially the Ernesto guy who actually walked away with him and was with him when he threw the knife. Because if you're with somebody or a group of people and one of them or some of them commit a crime, and you guys leave together and you end up knowing that they committed a crime and don't say anything or call police, you turn yourself from a witness to a co-defendant. There's actually many people in prison right now for just being there with someone who committed a crime and leaving with them and not saying anything because they didn't want to get involved but when you know that the person just committed a crime and you're willingly leaving with them and fleeing the scene you now put yourself into the criminal category

People act inappropriately every day of the week and in every city and state of this country. That's not the point. The point is that five people were stabbed and one died. No one can use lethal force in the absence of lethal threats or the serious potential for great physical harm. This was not self-defense. You can't stab unarmed people for yelling at you or even threatening to punch you (Miu actually threw the first punch). That's absurd. These people were not waving guns or knives. I can see we’re all split just about 50/50 on this incident from these comments. There’s a chance the state may have overcharged this case, but here’s my take -
These boys were underage drinking and drugging - terrible.
They were creeped out by an old man they thought was high or trippin, and acted like a bunch of mean girls - terrible.
Others came around to their defense and escalated things - terrible.
That being said, this man acted like a total creep that day, and if you’ve ever had teen brothers, or raised teen boys, you know that they act like idiots a lot of the time, whether drunk or not. This man ran over to them, stuck his hands in their stuff, touched one of their legs, stayed there after being asked to leave, and refused to just walk away, which he EASILY could have done over and over again. He got physical first, and then it was on. No one pulled weapons, no one threatened to kill him, no one trapped him. He gutted and stabbed several people, and walked away like nothing happened. The most damning thing for me is that he took no action - he should have called 911 himself, should have looked for or approached police himself, tossed the knife, acted like he had no clue what happened, lied to detectives, and played dumb. That is total consciousness of guilt! And that’s why I believe they charged him the way they did. Personally I believe he’s guilty af, but we’ll see what the jury says.

He had to have known the cops and everyone were looking for him. Same with Ernesto and the rest. Ernesto had a front row seat to the stabbings, why did he just remain silent and not let the cops know? I get it that these people came with Miu and possibly did not want to rat their "friend" out but Eric had just met Miu that day. So to just act like they have no idea who stabbed these people is insane. That makes them accomplices or aiding and abetting.
