I watch a lot of guitar based RUclips clips and rarely comment. I'm over 60 and have been playing for over 50 years. You, young man have a beautiful, beautiful playing style and tone and are frickin' incredible. I wish you every success in your career. R.L.
Robert Lyon Super work with his volume knob! There are many excellent players on YT. Only a few “get it”. I’m 62, and have been immersed in the “biz” for 50 yrs (almost) Now, set me up with that amp, and an early 60’s tele (rosewood board) and you’ve got MY dream rig! (loose the wrist watch) Peace
Truly a Strat master. Chris' confidence and aplomb with the knobs and switches - while never an intrusion to the soul of the music - never ceases to amaze. Great work.
This video just furthers my belief, that CB is set to move into the upper echelons of the great players. I think of him in the same vein as Derek Trucks, John Mayer, Jeff Beck etc. Chris really is world class ... I could listen to him endlessly.
Chris, I like the Yamaha but, man, when you pick up that Strat you move into the stratosphere (pun intended). Who else would buy an instrumental album of Chris on his Strat?
Jesus Christ Chris.... No one plays with so much emotion. I can feel every note. Almost taste and live the very music you create. You sir... Are the God of your musical multiverse. Don't ever stop creating souls.
Agreed, his slides are both masterful and emotional. I've watched many of Chris's performances but can't remember ever seeing him use a glass/metal slide, I think I'd like to see/listen to that.
Just watched/listen 1 min of the video...And...Man! You deserve to play in large stadiums! You are the next David Guilmour! It's not the gear. It's you. What a Tone! Now, I have a problem. You made me bought a RS502 Shop Black. And now I'm going after a 60s Am Original Strat. Should I? Well done! Cheers,
Such skill, such emotion, so much space. I'm hoping this isn't all learnt, I'm hoping there is a story, a pain that is the source of such great perceived emotion. God help us the day we can all just learn how to assimilate such true human emotion.
This is a rather different sound for you compared to the usual, this being more rugged, tweedy so to speak. I like both, but this suits you so well. More of this, please.
My favourite part of the jam beginning with the tasty bends at 1:00 to the growly upstrokes @ 1:12, pure tonal magic. I keep imagining what it would sound like in a live concert. Run out of room on the fretboard, no problem let’s move over to the string tree. Between the vintage 62 Strat and the custom Yamaha Chris has assembled a formidable arsenal to complement his tonal mastery.
I keep coming back. Just to listen to the opening. Man...... And just after I finished my firebird build. You make me want to build a strat. Then just sit and loop this video endlessly till I can play it!
Chris, that intro solo is so good, and inspiring because I can feel every note you play ....very Gilmourish if I would try to describe it! Love it :) keep up the good work and thanks for bringing great content to us.
God, I love it the tone when you're continuing to play even as the the volume is decaying almost out. I've started incorporating it into my playing. I normally set my rig so that when my guitar volume is at 5-6, it's at a level where if you play at 10 all the time, you'd have down at 7-8. Then my 7-8(ish) is what would be 10 for other players. So when I'm using vibrato on a long note or double stop, then I slide it up another position until it's almost died out before i slide up again. I'll shake it right to the point where the volume is all but gone, then slowly dial the volume up as I'm still shaking the note. I've only been doing it for a couple weeks, but everyone who's heard my play or have played with ALL comment on it immediately. I love discovering things like that; nothing that really is all that unusual, but still because it isn't something that everyone does, it sounds so original. Of course that applies more to people who aren't guitarist.
Damn, Chris. When are you going to make the "big time" The world needs a "new" great guitarist like you, especially a Welsh one ;) This was the most stunning tone and technique I've seen yet. I kept looking for the Strat's tremolo arm in your playing, which wasn't there (à la Jeff Beck)! I'm building a 5e3 right now and just hope that I can get a tone in this 5e4 zone!
@@ryanboshell6124 Yep, I thought I'd be the first, lol, way back in 1974... alas, I only made to "very good" status ;) Still SO happy that I continued to play guitar all my life though. And even more happy to see guitarists like Chris makes it against the odds!
You are one of my favourite players since I watched the miss you vid long time ago but recently I've been noticing that you are getting even better! I dont know man, there's something in your playing lately that sounds more special than ever, does anybody feel the same way? Thanks for the content Chris!
The way these amps break up is the sound of Rock and Roll. The dynamics of dialing them in, and back off the volume is a righteous thing. I have a 5e3 (Deluxe) clone a Celestion Blue, which also reacts the same way. There is very little headroom (starts to breakup around 3), but there is so much color, clarity and nuance with “how” you play. The sound is completely “Old School, familiar, dated”, but to my ears just how a guitar should sound.
Sweet sweet playing. I have a tweed super 5f4 clone built by Achillies amps in Australia. Its the best, well its hard to describe this but necause it is so touch sensitive, it really allows you to be expressive without a whole bunch of pedals. I absolutely love it.
You are always tremendous, but this one really was something else. That opening piece was so rich and dynamic that I honestly was completely blown away. 😎🎙🎸✅
My god that opening tune was....and those other tunes were..... my god! I'll go back and watch again and I swear I will listen to what you said about... amps? Amps right?
Sounds like the best Pink Floyd song never heard. I manage to steal one single lick from you (so far) and play it convincingly. You've changed my playing, dude.
As good as the Strat and the Yamaha sounded through that old Super, my favorite tones came from the Gibson ES-335. I no longer wonder why the late, great B.B. King favored the Gibson guitar/Fender amp combination! Gorgeous!😎❤️️🎸‼️
Sorry Chris. That's a wide panel tweed at 3.05 not a TV front. Unless it's a widescreen TV front ;) But that Strat jam at the beginning - I've said it to you in person and I'll say it in public, it gives me chills. Utterly amazing tone and playing - H
This brings back a few memories, since I had a 1948 Fender Super for about a year, and it was a killer little combo amp. It still had the original tubes,(valves) in it which were not glass bottles, but military grade metal cased tubes! Regrettably, I sold that amp to go buy a showroom condition 1969 Fender Dual Showman Reverb TFL5000D, with the original JBL D-130 speakers in it. It sounded exactly the same as the Super, but much louder which is what I was looking for in the 90's. I should have just kept the Super. Hindsight is always 20/20. Great video, and playing! Thank you.
Wow, wow, wow! Chris, I’ve watched a lot of your videos and have always been impressed with your touch and feel (and quite frankly more than a little jealous) but that playing in the intros section gave me goosebumps man. Bloody marvellous mate. Thanks 👍

Chris Buck, my favorite guitar player I've discovered in the past 5 years ...and I watch a lot of guitar players and live in Nashville.
Agreed he is a great player with an equaly great sound.
I've only discovered him on the last 5 weeks and slightly obsessed now. Sweetest tone and lovely touch.

That solo had Gilmour written all over it, booooootiful.
Happy or Girls?

Yes please, Chris, instrumental album!!
He actually says his main guitar is a strat. He plays a highway 1 strat
Ya not wrong Chris musnt realise how much better he is on a strat it is his perfect axe
Pretty much a dream rig Chris.
How many kidneys do you think I'd need to trade for the Strat?
HE is hereeeee!!!
62 strat, 55 tweed and a guy who has the potential to be one of the greats
